Who will be the next Yagudin?

Hi to all!

I registered today finally, so I´m a little late for this topic. Let´s state so far that Yags is a unique and irreplaceable skater. I wonder if there´ll be one standing next to him in, let´s say, the next 10 years. I´m afraid, we´ll have to cope with all these Yagudin clones in the meantime. Plushenko is the only one I can think of as being somewhat unique as well, but in the past I´ve been missing the passion in his skating. This would be the icing on the cake, but I can´t see it yet. So it´ll be Yags forever, at least for me! He´ll be in the big book of figure skating together with only a handful of others.

Alexei is a very unique skater, and I don't think he can be replaced, as I am sure most of you agree.

As for who might be the next really successful skater ... it is difficult to say at the moment.

Personally, I like Emanuel Sandhu's skating very much ... he always has great choreography, spins and footwork ... he just needs to get the jumps right!!!!
He definetely has more potential than most other skaters.

Just my humble opinion.

In any art form (and I would say sport form), a novice will have a roll model to imitate in the beginning. But while honing his'her skills the novice will inately develop his/her own style. (Think Barbara Streisand sounding like Judy Garland in the early years.)

I'm not convinced that Joubert is imitating Yagudin. I am, however, waiting for Joubert to develop a discernible style. Stephane already has style without Yagudin. He needs quads, but that's another story.

Hi, FrozenHeart and Indiaskye1. Welcome to the forum. I hope you'll post often. We are getting quite a strong German contingent! That's great.
