Who's Going to Worlds?

Haha that would be a great idea!

Here is what we are looking for prices for patches, BTW....if we could get 50 forum members to take at least one each, we could get them for around $4.17 apiece. That would be for a four inch square patch with 75% embroidery. There are lots of options as far as size and colors and amount of detail....and they are willing to work with us in design, computer mock up, etc. We still have time if we want to do this....and of course if you think you will be going to an event in the future or just want a patch, then of course that is ok also....so we shall just run this up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes.....Ideally, I would like to see the forum design and make available for purchase this patch and use it as a fund raiser for the forum. I would but this in my credetial pouch but you could make a badge out of it or sew it to something....

It is a good idea to have a patch with the GS logo - or some unique design for GS members and thank you for looking into pricing it. I would love to buy one at the price you quoted. However it would work better for me if it's something that's not so permanent - first off I'm terrible at sewing and I'd like to have varieties in my wardrobe - sorry, vanity takes over.... :slink:. Would it be possible to have a pin attached to the patch so we can pin it on instead. Thank you for all your effort. If the patch does not materialize I will keep an eye to look for you so I can meet other GS members.

Okay, I'm going to take some initiative!

Would any of you be interested in a brunch before either the Ladies (Thursday) or Pairs SP (Friday)? I'm thinking maybe 9 or 10 a.m., so that give like three hours before the start of either SP -- and it isn't super early so you guys can get sleep after the evening sessions. I can aim for a place close to TD Garden -- or at least easily accessible via the T.

ETA: Before pairs might be the better choice since that doesn't start until 1:15 p.m. Friday. (Ladies starts about 30 minutes earlier).

Saturday has a huge gap between the Pairs and Ladies FS, but someone else would have to organize that meet up since I'm flying home that day. :(

I have other (tentative) plans for Friday morning, so if that time is chosen I may not be able to go.

I am thinking that before the short ladies take the ice would be good......the problem is that right now, we dont have the official PDF for practices and warm ups.
For instance, if there is an official practice before Pairs I want to see (like the long ladies) then I would probably want to see that.
Us hard core folk dont mind missing certain practices and warmups but for those folk who this is their first comp, and who have seats in the nosebleeds, the warm ups and practices are their only chance to sit in the front row and watch the skaters close up. (For you newbies, practices and warmups are open seating) I suspect that rounding up a bunch of GSers will be like herding cats but I like your idea of setting a time and place and those that can/want to will show up and the rest can watch the stars wizz by three feet away....

You are correct...there are many things one can do with patches, like attach firm backing to them and pins to make badges out of them. In fact, I do not see a reason why we cant just put up a J-peg on my photobucket site which of course you can right click on and download, then print it out on photopaper and stick it in your credential pouch, or go to a local or web based button maker and have the jpg image put on a button.....easy peasy with today's technology....that might be the fastest, best route actually. Everyone can have a button made to the size they want.....

For instance, 10 ea 2.5 in round buttons including proofs would be 4 bucks apiece. If we agree on a design and get that many orders, we would be in like Flint, 20 buttons takes us down to more like $2.70 apiece.
For those of you need a bit of money and have time, I think charging $5 a button or say $7 for a $2. 70 investment would be a good idea. I would buy one.

The LOWEST cost and maybe BEST option if no one has initivtive is to come up with a GS design, put it out there on photobucket for all to download, have everyone print it out, and have the print laminated ( you can do this cheeply with a lam. kit at walmart or have kinko's etc do it) and put it in a pouch lanyard like you see me wearing at events....

That's a good point. I'll wait until I see the schedule.

I wonder if the unwashed masses (at least those with a practice pass) will be allowed in the practice rink (Steriti)?

The practice pass is only for TD Garden. To get into Steriti you have to have won one of the few golden practice pass and have a photo id to match name on ticket otherwise you can probably just look in from the sidewalk

ETA: Here's pics on yelp so sidewalk viewing is possible https://www.yelp.com/biz/steriti-memorial-rink-boston
I believe Boston2016 said on FSU there are no plans to cover the windows.

This has already been asked a dozen times and is actually one of the FAQs on the Worlds website - no, Steriti practices are closed. Only those lucky enough to win a Golden Practice Ticket can go watch.
