Who's Going to Worlds?

So for all of you fans who aren't completely worn out from watching skating all day and plan to stay up late on the weekend: today the MBTA decided to end the late night service mid-March. Currently on Friday and Saturday nights the trains run until 2am but they are cutting back to 12:30am. Just thought this was worth a mention if anyone is planning after-competition shenanigans.

Dang! T don't run all night!!!! Oh Uber!!!!

Thanks! While us old men are all too happy to hurry back to the room and sleep, there are some youngin's here that will acutally go out for a drink after an event.....good to know about the T. (I am still curious about what the orange and green lines will be like going back to the hotel ghetto after the last event of the evening lets out. I realize that this is analogous to other major sporting events letting out and many folk I am sure come from out of town and stay at the hotels we all are staying at, but it boggles the mind to think about thousands of folk being able to get on the trains and get back to the hotels even in the space of an hour....
Chris who lives where there are no trains

No outside food is allowed into the arena. The North Station food court is a good option before heading in or between events.
Tammi, the official site (under FAQ) says we can bring in unopened bottles of water. Is this still the case? Thanks!

That is great! As far as the food court or anywhere close, be careful when you leave and try to come back and when....
From the FAQ.
Can I leave and re-enter the arena during the event?
There will be no re-entry during competition events or the Exhibition of Champions. However, re-entry during TD Garden practice sessions will be permitted.

Also from the FAQ
Can spectators stay in the TD Garden between events?
No. The TD Garden will be cleared between each event. Fans may stay in the arena following the short dance competition only.

That's a change from nationals! At Nationals you could get a wristband and use that to re-enter. Oh well.

^ I think the wristband allowed All Event ticket holders to re-enter through a particular turnstile so they didn't have to exit and then stand at the end of the line behind single session holders. I don't recall that it allowed re-entry later in the same event once your session ticket was scanned. I believe it will be one scan, one entry, but I'll verify and have our FAQ updated if necessary.

In my very humble opinion, these kinds of rules change on the fly and at the Boston Nats, sometimes changed more than once...
Simon says, use this door to exit and this one to come in.
Simon says you cant go out
Simon says you can....
If one event is ending and a practice session is beginning, I dont see them emptying the place....also I dont see the bag rules being upheld.....they might check them, but I bet you are allowed to have them.....

Thanks Tammi. Basically, I was able to rush down to the North Station food court during ice resurfaces. And now that I think about it, I did with with someone that wasn't an all-event ticket holder, so maybe it wasn't the wristband.

ETA: I guess apparently North Station is technically part of TD Garden...so maybe that's why I was allowed to go down there?

Does this mean that we will have to have the men's short ticket scanned in order to stay in the arena after the short dance to watch the opening ceremony afterwards. I'm trying to figure out a good time to take a break either to run back to the hotel to check in or grab a quick bite.

I'm also curious how that works. To attend the practice on Wednesday, you need to have a practice ticket and get your Short Dance ticket scanned. Then, you are allowed to stay in the arena after the Short Dance. When does your Men's SP/OC ticket get scanned?

The wristbands will not be used for 2016, so that is a different policy to what existed at 2014 US Nationals. You have to exit the Garden to get to North Station, it's not part of the facility.

Once your ticket is scanned for an individual event, there will be no exit and re-entry allowed. The bowls will be cleared at the end of each event. Wednesday mornings policy of scanning your short dance ticket when you enter with a practice pass is because there is no previous event. After the short dance, you'd exit and enter again scanning the men's short ticket.

OK, so, just to see if I have this right....On March 31st, the Ladies short will be at 12:15pm and will go for ever how long it goes....then, 12,000 people (give or take) will be cleared from the arena, presumably to eat somewhere, and at a certain time before the FD at 7:30 pm, 12,000 people will be let in? I will be happy to get the PDF schedule so I can plan my meals and exit and entry times....also, the skating order of the free dance will be important so we dont miss any of our favorite skaters. What is the cut for the folks that make the FD? 24?

Then what are people allowed to do who have dietary restrictions and cannot eat the stuff offered at the event food stands?

Is there any kind of pass either to bring in food or exit and return in such cases?

My recommendation is to contact Andrew at the LOC. He can advise on specific Garden policy questions that fall outside the Worlds FAQ.

Thank you, Tammi. I sent a note to customer service at TD Garden, as is suggested by the FAQ, but I have not heard back yet.

I will give Andrew a try.

Just got my tickets to the men's free skate. My first World Championships. Looking forward to seeing Chan, Fernandez, and Boyang Jin live.

This of course was in the FAQ:
"Guests with specific/special dietary needs due to medical conditions or religious requirements should contact the TD Garden at 617.624.1331 or send an email to [email protected]."
If it were me, I think that three days is adaquate to recieve a response from CS. If not, I would be on the phone. I would be nice and polite at first, of course. If they kept ignoring me, I would
gently remind them there is this thing called, "Americans with Disabilities Act" If they kept ignoring me, then I would turn into a real S** O* B****. We are people who pay lots of money to be there.
We are not cattle. If I wanted to be treated like cattle, I would fly on an American Airline.:dev2:
