Will Mao Asada Score "210"?

I think Mao's PCS (at worlds) is higher than it should be.
That's because of Kim. The judges wanted to place Kim above Nakano at least, to leave her a chance of a medal. Obviously those two falls made them to add points for security reasons.
Since Mao is the better skater than Kim, and after that almost "flawless" FS, the judges had no other choice but to give Mao the highest score. If appropriately marked, I assume Mao's FS score would be around 130, and Kim's was 104.

Hi Rutinia, welcome to Golden Skate. :)

That was an interesting point about how the judges juggle the points to acjeive the final result. I agree,. I think there is a lot of "working backwards" in the PCSs. The judges decide whose perfomance they like the best, who was second best, etc., then they arrange the points to make it come out that way.

It's only the toe-loop where they really dock you points for pre-rotation, isn't it?

The loop is particularly hard to do without some pre-rotation -- as you don't have toe assistance, and as the second jump you have much less momentum. Miki's 3/3 is also pre-rotated by a half turn. Are there slow-mo video footages of other top ladies (or men, for that matter) doing a 3/3 ending in loop?

I can't remember who said this, probable Mathman or Joesitz or someone else rather influent, but I think the loop isn't possible without prerotation. You have to 'snap' your foot to begin the rotation, or you'll never get off that right back outside edge. It's a law of physics, pretty much...

Well, the "correct" take-off for a loop is to have 90 to 135 degrees of pre-rotation. I used to do a loop from a real backward take-off, and one of my ex-coaches (a former UK men's champion) told me I was making things far too hard for myself, and that I was supposed to leave a tracing on the ice showing my toe-pick leaving the ice at about 120 degrees. I wasn't trying triples though. I imagine for a 3Lp you probably need even more pre-rotation on ice just to get going.

So my question is, can ANYONE do a triple loop with less than 180-degree pre-rotation? As the second jump? As the first jump? Anyone got convincing slow-mo footage to share?

I have noticed that even for 3/2 combinations ending in a 2Lp, most ladies pre-rotate 180 degrees, and they don't seem to get -GOE just for that.
