Yu-Na has to decide

At your command, sorcerer.:laugh::laugh:

Truth is I don't have much information, either. I've been following news reports and it seems Yuna's team is still considering which, or both to participate.
I think eventually Yuna will go to 4CC, I heard Orser will go anyway with his new Australian disciples(sorry, their names just escaped me), but I certainly can't guarantee about Yuna.

On aother note, it seems korean skating federation has set the ticket price of 4CC ridiculously high, which was gratuitous years ago when they hosted it, I don't know the exact price but it was somewhere between 800~900 US dollars if you're to watch every competitions plus exhibition. So there's been huge uproars among skating fans and some media reports followed then KSF backed out saying they will reset the price until 23th January.

My think is Yuna will make it official after 23th(actually that's what was reported 3 days ago), it seems Yuna doesn't want fans to be ripped off and hopes they will lower the price by giving the thought she might not participate, sure with Mao and Miki and other big stars tickets will be sold out, however it's just not the way to promote this sport they are in charge of.

This is off topic, but recently there's also been a controversial report that KSF is not all that happy with Yuna's achievements, simply it's a power game among short track, speed skating and figure skating, and Yuna doing well only does harm to them with the way they managed to put their bubgets so far since figure skating was almost inexistent before Yuna came along... and who knows there's been embezzlements all over the place.

So here, fans are in rage now and many talk about KSF rather than 4CC or Yuna herself. Honestly many of Yuna fans want Yuna to skip every competitions held in Korea, since they feel KSF use Yuna to bring money without supporting her. I would like to differ but anyway....

OTOH it seems many of Mao and Miki's fans are gratified to see them, preparing banners, presents and stuffs and I hope people to know that we, both Korea and Japan(hopefully?) are not consisted of malicious bashers, there's a lot of genuine heartfelt fans too.;)

Oh, the deadline is until 22th. I didn't know about that.
Now it makes total sense why KSF postponed their announcement until 23th.

I just checked and yesterday there was another media report that Yuna is participating, and now I'm just confused what to believe.

I wonder if participating this event affects so much on the preparation for the Worlds. GPF series are much more demanding in terms of the schedule.

Besides that, I feel that people in Korea would be dissapointed if Yuna doesn't appear. Regardless of the insider politics, I guess that the average fans would look forward to seeing her skate in their own country.

I think Yuna will participate anyway, but I wonder that will both Miki and Mao will really join this 4CC? Miki ,probably since she missed GPF and want to try quad before the world. (She kept doing quad in every practice despite her injury). For Mao who is training in US, will she really join?

I have no idea what Mao team may be thinking.

But personally, I think that this is a great chance for Mao to get better used to competition settings as her biggest problem has been her nerves.

Google gives you this (at this moment) ... but also alerts that the following site will damage your computer.
You click the URL on the google page, and that links to another google alert that says you're risking severe danger.

"Yu-na Starting Year With Four Continents Event(The Korea Times)-"
"01-22-2008 16:18 ... South Korea's figure skating wunderkind Kim Yu-na has decided to participate in the Four Continents Championships ... 19-21 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Lack of training time has Kim performing in only one match. ..."

I imagine the date is mistaken in the full original sentence. It might be a bogus site.
So don't dare make access to the following:

Rather, go to Chosun ILBO, the Japanese version put the story on:
http://www.chosunonline.com/article/20080123000007
Yuna chose 4CC.

The English version is yet to come on:

Yea for Yunie!!!!!! Although I really don't think she really needs to compete at 4CC's.

She will probably use this event as practice for Worlds and the fact it is in her home country :)

Wonder if the Japanese Skating Federation are sending any of their top skaters?

Yes, Yuna is participating for sure.

Tickets were sold out(ladies) in just about 2 hours and I couldn't get it.:frown:
Other disciplines, I can't go b/c of my job. What a bummer.

Wow! Good to hear there are still places where skaters are treated like stars! But too bad for you:( How are other disciplines doing?

At this moment, it seems Dance and Pairs are over 30% . Men over 40% booked.
Given it's on weekdays, not bad.
There's only about 1500 seats available in the first place( it's a small arena), I think every disciplines will be at least half-fulled.

I am amazed too. It never happens in Canada. Skate Canada often has to offer a blow-out deal in their last ditch effort to fill the lower bowl of the arena and then they close off the upper bowl.

Speedy is bound to go after Korea.

Do you have a link to 4CC site, where I can find ticket information?

Thank you so much.:bow::bow: Amen to you.

I do read Korean. In fact, Korean is my first language and my firefox has Korean language pack installed in it.

I think this is very unique to Japan and Korea.

In North America, I have been ridiculed for loving a "gay, corrupt" sport a number of times (yes, Some Canadians are not politically correct). A lot of people don't even consider it a sport. People here tend to associate figure skating with all the judging controversies (i.e. sale-pelletier incidence), money-hungry ISU and network-ISU wrangling over TV broadcasting rights. A lot of Canadian skaters are struggling to make their ends meet, even those who are in the national team.
