Yulia Lipnitskaya

She said in the quote above to Lisa (3509) that with the new boots it was "scary to do (certain) jumps at full speed. She does seem to be back up to speed throughout her program.

That was before. She had quite some time now to adjust and that brand she is using it's easier to break. It's all in her head now, and I don't know what's happening in her team but I feel something.

Agree. She skated quite well in the short program. Yulia needs to be strong. With some patience and her team's help, it will work out.

I appreciate Eteri gave Yulia a hug right after the LP. I was shocked by the coldness of Anna's coach after Anna's skate.

I think there's some problem between Yulia and Eteri. Judging by some Yulia's interviews she wants more attention from her trainer and che can't get it. Eteri has many students right now, at the same time as I said before some outsiders are trying to build a reef between them for quite some time. And Eteri is aware of that I'm not sure about Yulia. She's only a 16 years old girl with no experience. In my opinion if they both survive this year they will be unbeatable team in the years to come.

That's what I thought from watching her skate, but wanted someone to confirm it.

Something had better happen in her team. Mama won't let this go on.

Do you have references for the outsiders interfering, I would really like to read about that. You are right, Yulia did want more attention and said this caused her to regularly think about quitting. Didn't Eteri recently mention taking on more students?

You are so right about surviving. Eteri is devoted to Yulia, which is no guarantee of making the best decisions when confronted with this snowballing mess. I hope that they stay together and that they get through this without more problems.

Yep that's why I feel like they are in chaos a bit, as sidj said.
I don't want to blame Eteri. In all honesty I know nothing about their work and approach, and all this season she went nowhere else but with Yulia. Even italian commentators noticed this in CoR.
They said Eteri didn't left Yulia in order to prepare since she was late, and didn't accompany any of the juniors.
So from outside it doesn't seem she is lacking attention from Eteri. But there is something going on. Even China incident was not very well managed. So I don't know.
We'll have to wait an see, and as you said if they both survive this year they will be unbeatable.
I guess this is what we call experience.

I can't imagine a more devoted and caring coach. Eteri is essential. Here is the excerpt where Yulia talks about lack of attention. The problem sounds systemic, allocating rink and gym space, nothing personal. She's not a tutor. I think Yulia wants more of Eteri, that's understandable. Doesn't every normal kid want the adult for herself? Eteri may not know what to do no matter how much she wants to correct the present mess, needs more time and understanding. I wouldn't want to be in Eteri's shoes. This is getting too deep for an ordinary person. They really need to listen to Yulia and stop messing with her mind.

You're right Alba, Eteri should have done better with the medal ceremony. That's right, you've heard me say it.

from Flade: Q: But tell me, why was it so hard for you? Maybe you were bored, got fed up by training?

A: There are two groups now, four practices plus gym. The coaches have to watch everything very closely. Every athlete needs attention, but it's impossible to pay as much attention as it's desired, to everyone. The juniors in our group got really great start. And the seniors are not that great yet. We have run-throughs every day. Maybe it helps to prepare for competitions, but not everyone can endure that. Sometimes I get fed up and want to quit. But if you can't really do anything besides skating, you can't quit.

This is part of my post in the LP thread. It got no responses but I'm really curious about its answer:

Well, I sincerely hope it doesn't shake her self-conficence any more than it is already shaken. She's got two weeks until RN. I have a doubt, however, about her boots: When she announced she was changing them, I think she mentioned about getting stiffer ones. If my memory isn't failing me, what made her go to Edeas? If it doesn't trouble 10 year olds landing doubles, I doubt it is stiffer than Risports... The only thing I can think that made her go for Edeas is the short break-in time, as it appears she was running out of time.

Sigd, I'm 100% that Eteri is devoted to Yulia. I'm almost sure that Eteri's weight loss is a result of the problem she's having with our wonder kid. I have no doubts in that direction, but you mustn't forget that Yulia is an innocent but stubborn girl and sometimes it's difficult to work with her when she's not in the mood. They need to free her mind from the last season and just prepare her to be a better skater. And the success will come, look at the people' s reaction. She's the only one that captures public imagination even when she makes mistakes.

Well, I saw Yulia right now and completely agree with what the italian Eurosport commentators said.

First of all, I agree with Sandpiper who said this was no way CoC. She fought for it as much as she could and in that sense she delivered. She didn't gave up like in CoC. That's great to see and it means she still has it.
The program is beautiful.

Now, what happened. She fell on the first axel, too vertical and on a curve, but that happens. It's not a problem jump for her as we saw in her second combo. The problem was the flip, and here I agree with the commentators who said: The call on the flip, on the short, was unfortunate and send her in confusion. She said they will try to fix it, but it's not possible to change it in 1 day.
Obviously she faced it with fear here, so 2 lutz jump would've been better for today.
Anyway, this is still a new program for her. She should quickly forget the GP's and just concentrate on her work."

That is a good question because she already had stiff boots and that was the source of the pain and boot adjustment issues. She said the new boots feel like slippers which I imagine means they are quite soft. She said they are lighter and helped her jump higher. These errors are purely lack of preparation from day one and playing catch-up from a terrible start. She wasted too much time to start the season and then had pitfalls befall her adding to the problems.

I hope she doesn't mean it the way I'm imagining right now? Because that sounds like a terribly low self-esteem. :(

I think she means that's all I know. It's like saying music is all I have and know.
I'm good at doing it, etc.etc.

I didn't interpret it as an issue with self-confidence, quitting is more of a personal decision tinted by the Sochi disappointment and not feeling comfortable with her treatment in general. But she can't do anything else so she's locked in. Saying that she's locked in at age 16 has to be taken skeptically, sounds like an excuse to stick with skating. In the same interview she said Can you imagine what it's like to be me or the equivalent twice. In many ways her life is a Megapolis. Here is the entire interview, it's outstanding and it will give you context for excerpts: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...autumn-winter-2014.93222/page-18#post-4374031
I think she is being realistic. I hope she can get more inspiration to move forward. Liza can overcome her previous 2 seasons, then Yulia can too. It all happens to every skater.
