Yulia Lipnitskaya

A small interview of Yulia:

- You were getting ready to this GP event in the USA. How was this work going?
- Good. The training conditions were totally different. I was more ready for this event than to Finlandia Trophy. But still there is some lack of confidence. I was ready for this start, concentrated, but still - there was a popped jump, I was doubtful at both flips... The only things that I can be satisfied about are the salchow, the 2A and the toe at the end of the program, and that I didn't fall.

- It seemed to me that you looked more confident in your SP in Milwakee than in Finland, is it true?
- The SP is more polished (than LP). But here, for some reason, I felt less confidence than in Finland... I hope that I cope with these problems during this season... I have such a lack of trust in myself at present. I can't trust my movements, because I'm changing all the time. But I have to cope with that throughout the season.

- But you cope with it at practices, don't you?
- It can't be compared with what was in the off-season. At that time I was already doing the combination of two triples. But at the beginning of the season it was so hard to get into shape. Almost a month was lost because of different illnesses - an injury, than a pinched nerve, I couldn't even raise my right leg for some time... Then I began to skate again, to work, and now I'm still working trying to improve, to catch up...

- Are you going to Moscow after this event?
- Yes, I will continue training at home. I'm going to fight. I think that at the next GP event I'll feel more confident, because the elements that didn't go well here, that was mostly because of lack of confidence.

Yaaaasss! :yay:

Thankyou for the translation borzaya!

Hi-my-friends!Im-here,in-Milwaukee!And-my-space-in-borken...Are-you-see-our-banner-on-Arena?Maybe-anybody-make-photo-with-him?send-me-please!And-how-we-may-meeting-here?

I've seen it on TV during live translation. It's really beautiful. You guys rock! :)

Thanks for the interview translation!

I stop by to say congrats to Julia for holding it all until the end. Shame about the popped jump and missing combination but after that it just got better and better. I feel like she gave it all to her performance even if with the flawed jumps and that, I really appreciated a lot. Show them your fighting spirit, Julia! :agree:
The step sequence was lovely and I adored her performance.. she moved beautifully to the music.
I believe she's heading to the right direction and I noticed her jumps looked higher/a little bigger too so I think it's great. She just needs to put herself in the better state of mind and believe in herself. It must not be easy and I wanna pat her on her back and say she's worked hard and I admire her strength and will.

It's nice to see her smiling too and the audiences sure appreciated her performance. Let's hope she'll get through the hurdle and be more ready for her next competition.

Oh and I hope there will be video of SA from B.ESP (they're my favorite).

Just watch NBC broadcast of the ladies event. Tara shared some inside stories about Julia and Evgenia. She said she had a chance to talk with their coach and according to their coach, these girls barely talk to each on the ice and they definitely don't talk off the ice; Julia refuses to skate on the same ice with Evgenia; and now they sometimes have to share the ice, Julia will then make a lot of faces.

Well, I watch Julia skate quite often but I am not so familiar with her in other aspects like her training, coaching, team mates, and friends. In fact, I only realized that she and Evgenia train under the same coach when Tara said that. Evgenia seems a lovely girl and it is a shame that these two ladies don't seem to have positive dynamics at training. So I wonder what has been happening between these them. Could someone shed some light on this?

Basically most of us don't believe what Tara said.

That's really bad from Eteri. For me that's unprofessional behaviour and worse of all it shows that you cannot trust her. I'm very disappointed. :disapp:

I don't think Tara is that stupid to invent the whole thing by mentioning Eteri. I'm sure
they made it out to be more than it was in reality though because most probably they skate in different groups. Most coaches try to split up their top students to make them more comfortable. However Eteri should deny this publicly. If she doesn't then what Tara said stands still.

Shame to Tara &Co. though
for trying to make Yulia look like some spoiled child that can't deal with people, when she's actually a good friends with Liza and Lena and always respected Adelina. The more I hear these people, Ilia included, the more I appreciate Yulia. The only real adult among them.

I have to admit that Yulia's new programmes are growing on me (I wasn't impressed the very first time). :agree:

I'm also glad to read that she isn't losing her fight spirit, I only hope there's someone "specialist" near her, helping her to overcome this confidence loss. She deserves to live her "career" with joy, without any kind of fear. Everything else will come as a consequence :cheer2:

I don't think either that Eteri made those comments. She would poison the relationships between her, Yulia and Evgenia all the same time as well as present herself as gossipy. I don't believe she is that stupid. In my view it's more likely that Tara made this up or blew a comment out of proportions to put Eteri and her group on the defensive. It would be more dangerous to her if she had talked about a US group, but the Russians are an easier target.

Yes this is my feeling too:thumbsup:

Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski are happy to convey gossipy rumors about Americans as well. They are often not kind people.

I am so impressed with Julia's fight to return to form. You go girl!

Averbukh just stated in interview that he set Zhenia's LP choreo for Julia last year. They created it soon enough, she tried it, it looked very well, but her mother said "no" to the program.
He added: "apparently, being an author of successful Olympic program, my authority was not enough".

He might be a self-promoting narcissist, but if depicted situation is true, I'm a bit concerned.
Always thought her mom stays away from skating decisions (besides costumes). :slink:

Unfortunately yes, this is also the case. I do think soon, if not already, most skaters/coaches are not going to be willing to talk to them actually for fear what they say is going to be repeated, in maximally exaggerated fashion, on air.

He has some kind of grudge against Julia now, I would not take anything he says too seriously either.

I don't know about the choreography but Yulia's FD (after Mulan if I'm not mistaken or before?), was a different movie soundtrack (I don't remember the title right now) not the one Evgenia is using and Yulia said she couldn't stand the music. I'm always against mom's getting their nose in these things but still, nothing justify Ilia's attitude and words that he spent against Yulia since last season. If this is the problem he had with her than he's worse than I though. Only a petulant and prickly person would act like this just because his ego was touched. For god sake Ilia, stop acting like you are some kind of Petipa or Balanchine. :drama:
