Maybe it would be good for her 'confidence-wise' if she goes to an easy event like senior B and wins, so that she can have a high-note for the season.

This is my 1st msg on this thread after a long period of reading. I was following figure skating since a young age in the 80’s (Hamilton, Witt, Bestemianova/Bukin, Torvill/Dean, Schramm, Boitano, Orser). Then for a long period I just stopped following it ... I don’t know why, actually. In Jan. 2014 by chance I found myself watching the free lady program at Europeans in Budapest. Not even 1 year ago. And I saw the last to go. What a performance! I was mesmerized by Yulia Lipnitskaia. Wonderful program, one of the greatest achievements in figure skating to me.... And when I found out that she choose the music, the character portrayed at 15 ... I was just thinking SHE IS BEYOND everyone else (as Plushenko stated several times: she’s a GENIOUS). In any case I was one of many thinking that SHE WAS ELEVATING figure skating to a new level. I began following once again figure skating and especially Yulia’s career.
After that Sochi OG, the team event, the individual one, the worlds in Saitama ...
Of course I was interested in knowing why she was picked up to be responsible ALONE for the team event (even thought that it was to bust Sotnikova...but maybe I was wrong ;-)) evil of a Federation...). Than I thought maybe because of Plushenko, the only male skater for the team. They were the only one to have to perform in short and long.... all the other teams had little work to do, being busy just with one segment and taking a medal just for that...
After 10 days was it possible for her to replay her performance in the individual event? Too much pressure: Fall in short (at THE END) and in long and I was just heart broken for her, for something that she worked so hard during the last season. I don’t know if the team medal could be some sort of consolation to her...
I saw her confidence rise at Worlds, even with a fall in the long, and with a magnificent short, and also her positive attitude with the russian press at worlds (she was much more open)...Well it was the end of the season and shows all over Russia were waiting for her. Pressure off.
After summer here we go with a new season ... With plenty of bad performances in the free program not once (China), but also in Bordeaux, Barcellona, Russian Nationals. Four in a row with mistakes, falls, no confidence in some of her jumps. Becoming frightening of course. All (high and low) happening in less then 1 year. Of course we’ve got the explanations by Yulia herself, thank God (new boots and problems to adjust to them, injuries, late free preparation with new program made in august-september, adjusting to her new status of known sportwoman).
After China, the free and her absence from the ceremony (why to hold the award ceremony after 11 p.m. after a looong day of competition for everybody???) I was really concerned about her. But then I saw her face next day at the exhibition and thought she was fine.Then I’ve followed the TEB compet. in Bordeaux. I found her much better with the approach to the free program, so even with mistakes I thought that she was on the right track. Unfortunately she couldn’t deliver in Barcellona and at Russian Nationals, with 2 falls and other big mistakes. And it must have been so frustrating for her...I was following the results with my heart jumping all around me. What to say after the last competition? It seems to me that these are MIND TRICKS, which are terrible....and you cannot blame anyone else.
From september on we had a lot of drama going on around her persona, now JUST 16. And if you list also the problems with the Federation (adults with a childish mind at this point for some of them), the answer from Eteri Tutberidze to protect her pupil (I understand), and a new statement from Yulia to say that if she doesn’t qualify for the EC, well that was just HER faults (did I tell you how smart and wise this girl is?!?!?), well that was a LOT going on.
I’m here to express my support to Yulia during this difficult period. Her skating, to me, is UNIQUE and SPECIAL . And Just for reading her interviews, beside her skating, you can say how honest, smart and wise she is. NO TIME TO QUIT. Time maybe to rest and go back to basics and solve the problems. I wouldn’t go to EC in this form (and I don’t think she’s going to be picked for it). She has to build her confidence back. That’s one major thing, if not the only thing to do. Being as old to be her mother I wish her just the best for a long career and a lot of positive energy to reach the heights were she belongs.

Or have another bad LP and lose to weaker skaters. I don't see the point, really. Sometimes you should learn when to stop also. It's not giving up, but there is no need to push it. She will gain her confidence when she is fit, well prepared and skate like she did last season.
Take a break, give the exams. Choose the music that you like. Have a great choreo. Fix whatever you need to fix. Train properly and by august she is in top form, and ready to start with minor competitions before the GP series starts. She should take advantage from all this. Quae nocent docent.
Well, if he specifically mentions Russian Cup final, it means that she's still in the running for that 3rd Worlds spot. But I don't know if Eteri or Yulia would want to just rest and prepare for the next season.

Although it was heart-breaking to watch her at Nationals, I think it was for the best. She obviously needs to take a break. I remember reading some interview ages ago where she mentioned how she wanted to quit FS after she moved to Moscow because she just 'lost her passion' due to some injuries. Then she figured it out. And that's exactly what she needs to do now. Take rest of the season of, maybe catch up on school, friends, whatever... and then decide if you want to give it another go. Personally, I hope she will continue, but I would rather never see her skating again than watch her so defeated...and that's not about placing, she looked defeated even when she was on podium this season. It may sound weird, creepy even, but when it comes to Yulia, I just want her to be happy. If she will be happy competing, yay for all of us. If not, what of it. She accomplished so much, accomplished what most elite skaters never will - her skating touched something inside all of us.

I remember reading some interview ages ago where she mentioned how she wanted to quit FS after she moved to Moscow because she just 'lost her passion' due to some injuries. Then she figured it out. And that's exactly what she needs to do now. Take rest of the season of, maybe catch up on school, friends, whatever... and then decide if you want to give it another go. Personally, I hope she will continue, but I would rather never see her skating again than watch her so defeated...and that's not about placing, she looked defeated even when she was on podium this season. And what so amazing with Yulia is that she was competing with the top top skaters like Mao, Carolina and Yuna. She achieved so much when competing with them, that shows that she is really really good. Although Elena and Eliza have been skating really good (almost..) they haven't really had challenges like Yulia have and tbh they aren't that good. I believe Yulia need's her passion back and also confident. I hope she doesn't quit skating, that would be devastating but I understand we all want the best for Yulia. Yulia can beat anyone on the field that is out there right now! She only needs to put herself together and I hope the support from the fans will help her!

I don't know what to believe, about how she ended up with her current free skate.
But it hasn't seemed to suit her, and she can't seem to "connect" with it, the way she does with her SP.
And personally, I see that as the source of her troubles this season.
So I hope she takes a break, comes back refreshed next season, and is allowed to skate to whatever music she wants, and with whatever choreography she wants - with no interference. If that was indeed a problem this year.
And on a lighter note, I have uploaded some photos I took of Julia at the Grand Prix Final --> HERE
