Yulia Lipnitskaya

I seriously wanted to kill when the streaming was so horrible!!! Agree, ugh so sad to see her at the bottom :(

I have been prepared. I was sure in the summer that she will have another difficult year and after all this is the "right" season for that. Still it hurts though. I hope she will stay focused and determined. Bad times will pass.

I pray she doesn't give up! I think her on ice presence is something so rare and something that can't be taught. It must be harder on her than anyone to struggle like this. That is what breaks my heart more than anything. I just hope she can find her center and move forward. She has shown me so much about this sport and about myself and she has a way about her that is almost surreal. Best wishes and happiness to a very special person.

:agree:

I think this was better than Finlandia so she is moving in the right direction and that is the important thing. She also didn't seem upset with the program so I think that is a good sign too. The important thing is that her spirits are high and that she keeps moving forward.

I loved watching her as usual.

Some major confidence issues with her flip and lutz...but well done for holding it together during the second half. The audience seemed very supportive in the end...and as always, it is nice to see her smile, appreciative of the audience and in a relatively positive state after her performance.

Checked the results before watching her ... Low results but no deductions .... You know that, apart the technical known problems, I REALLY enjoyed her skate ??? It will be a loong way back. Just Be strong Lady and endure this period ...

I am both amazed and worried about Yulia. It seems to me that she shows the will of a lion to fight her way through the crisis, but that will not be enough. I still think that Eteri is the key person to Yulia's future, and I'm afraid that she might already have given up on her and turned her main attention to "easier" skaters like Evgenia.

I think the judging today was a little strange.
The judges were hard on Julia.
There may have been some kind of an agreement between the federations.
Today was a good presentation and Julia can't lose 7 points in the PCS.

Well, if that's the case it's her least problem. Change the coach. I would love for her to work with other choreographers like Dickson, Buttle or Nichol in the future also. Yulia has a special thing about her as a skater and I would love to see that at full potential because she deserves the best.

With that TES every skater would lose a lot in PCS. That's the way it goes.

p.s. The american commentators sucks in this event.

I completely agree, Yulia has something about her that is just unique. But this is not about coaching or choreographing, it's more about education and "growing up" resp. learning how to deal with your feelings. Puberty may play a certain role, but I believe it was mostly the Sochi experience that put her on the wrong track. Now she is all hopes & fears and does not know how to return to a clear and settled mind. And Eteri does not seem to teach it to her. If they have not considered getting a psychologist aboard they better do now, before it's too late. A different coach would have to start from scratch with Yulia to build up trust.

I think there's some truth in that, it seems pretty clear to me right at start, Evgenia is the one they will put their support from the get go.
I hope she will come back stronger and not let go of her confidence, because she will need it if she wish to continue in the sport. The programs are improving... and can only get better if she believe.

She looks prettier and prettier. That last look had everything in it: anger, disappointment, determination, contemplation, sadness, hope...
Not sure about acting skills, but those are definitely cinema eyes.

You learn how to deal with your feelings and difficulties when you go through them. She is a sensitive and sensible person. She will get through it. Anyway, I wasn't referring about this period only, when I said that I want to see her work with other choreographers. I say this in general and it's been sometimes now that I want her to work with other choreographers. Good choreographers do help you a lot with discovering new things about yourself, your own feelings, skating quality, about your potential but above all they know how to get that out from you. I want to see that developed despite technical issues she might face now or in the future.

A different coach would have to start from scratch with Yulia to build up trust.

In many cases that's needed and the best thing to do. Even small changes do often help. As I said, I don't know if this is her problem but if that's the case it's much easier to resolve.

p.s. I don't know what's going on with So Youn either. I loved watching her in 2014 and I thought she would be a strong contender in the future. She has so many good qualities yet she's struggling a lot also. My favorite Pair are regressing. :disapp: Thank god SA is over.

You do not teach someone how to swim by pushing him into the deep water. That can go badly wrong. Yulia will somehow get through this, the question is if she can remain a competitive figure skater afterwards.

I think Yulia will still keep her crosshairs set on 2018. If she does well I wouldn't be surprised if she just TRIED to compete the next season and if she's does well she might keep competing. On a lighter note, did anyone here what Eteri had to say about Yulia and Evgenia? They NEVER talk and Yulia refuses to skate on the same ice as Evgenia, but when they are forced to Yulia "makes a lot of faces"

I actually think that is too bad to hear...

Well that's contrary to what some of Eteri's skaters being saying on ask.fm
The question of 'do Yulia and Zhenia communicate?' comes up quite often, and the answer is 'Yes'. They may not be bffs by any means, but both seem to get along quite well with everyone else in the group.
Also, did Eteri 'actually' say that? Or is this gossip/assumptions made by commentators who loves their DRAMAZ wayyy to much?

Tara Lapinski said she spoke with Eteri and that's what she said
