Eteri is fluent in english. But to me, it just seems out of character for Eteri to share inner-group skater-conflict like this opening and willingly (if it is true).
You do not teach someone how to swim by pushing him into the deep water. That can go badly wrong.
It's perfectly normal. Yulia will somehow get through this, the question is if she can remain a competitive figure skater afterwards.
On a lighter note, did anyone here what Eteri had to say about Yulia and Evgenia? They NEVER talk and Yulia refuses to skate on the same ice as Evgenia, but when they are forced to Yulia "makes a lot of faces"![]()
If she can't, peace. At least she would've tried. Not trying is the only thing she should regret, if that happens. Right now she is and for me that's the right path.

I've been thinking exactly same thing. It was clear to me in the summer that the changes weren't over yet, and, of course, she can't keep adjusting on the fly, while her body keeps constantly changing. But on the positive side, at least she hasn't grown so tall as to be unable to do triples (as happens to some female skaters). I think she'll probably still grow a bit, but at 17 her major growth spurt is, in all probability, behind her. (I've also heard of some top skaters growing taller after leaving the sport, as adults, but that's another story.) The other very important thing is that she is obviously very engaged with her skating, despite all the difficulties, and keeps making and delivering mesmerizing programs, and looks upbeat in general. I don't know what impresses me more: her skating or her diamond will. And that leads to the third good thing: even when her technique is not at its best, she's still somebody everybody wants to watch (and often more than anyone else); so even if she doesn't attain her previous form (although I think she will, once her body stops changing), she won't have to give up skating: she'll have show tour invitations for as long as she chooses to skate.I have been prepared. I was sure in the summer that she will have another difficult year and after all this is the "right" season for that. Still it hurts though. I hope she will stay focused and determined. Bad times will pass.
Because they talk too much, or because they're chauvinistic? If the latter, do you know who they are?The american commentators sucks in this event.
Do they believe she'll stay 16 forever?I think there's some truth in that, it seems pretty clear to me right at start, Evgenia is the one they will put their support from the get go.
Of course! I'm very sorry indeed to hear that. I hope it's not at this forum?Also, kind of unrelated but it's interesting how all that hate Yulia used to get has been so glaringly shifted onto Evgenia...I guess the victim will change around but the bullies will be as nasty as ever. Evgenia deserves her moment too, and did beautifully imo.

That's nice to hear. B.ESP are probably the most professional/tolerable in regards to english commentary. I generally watch the Spanish or Japanese coverage, since I literally cannot stand the majority of english broadcasted commentary, especially if the commentators are talking over the music and throughout the entire performance...It's the equivalent of watching a film or a ballet, and having a film or dance critic blabbering on loudly and incessantly within your hearing range throughout the entire show.Just watched eurosport brit and what sensitive comments they had for her situation .... They are really wonderful.... As always

I believe Yulia can still bounce back. Maybe she needs to join a lot of competitions like Tuk did to regain her confidence.

b) who's the skater chatting and saluting during the warm up;
