I think they got Marina and Mishin mixed up...unless I totally missed something
They were indeed quite encouraging, honest and understanding about Yulia's current transition period.
There was the standard huge screen in the middle of the arena, and there were smaller screens at each corner...So "coincidentally" I was looking at the screen right over my view of YULIA (it was clear I wasn't staring). And I SWEAR TO GOD, as I was looking down, I took a quick peak and SHE WAS LOOKING DEAD AT ME. I FREAKED THE HELL OUT AND casually looked back at the middle screen. Not only that, but it kinda happened A COUPLE OF TIMES. I HONESTLY NEVER FELT MORE PANICKED.

I think it might be some type of hyper-vigilance that some skaters tend to have when they are in situations where they are recognized and approached often.
In the middle of the Men's SP, I decided to head to the concourse real quick, so I got up out of my seat and started walking toward the aisle with the stairs. As soon as I did this, a blonde girl from the next section over swung her head around to look at me... and I was thinking, "Girl, what are you thinking at??" But then I noticed it was Tanith Belbin, sitting next to Charlie!![]()
) But when she sat down in the stands, you could tell she just wanted to relax and cheer on her fellow skaters (she actually had to leave a few times because crowds were starting to form.) Your reasoning's probably more likely, but I wasn't constantly staring at her though. I was actually watching the replays on the big screen and BAM!! It was still pretty awesome either way but you can't take that away from me
I did not expect how easy it was to randomly run into these athletes! I was walking to the arena from the mall and Mariah Bell just appears next to me. I saw Carly Gold about a dozen times. Almost hit Charlie White while I was walking (didn't expect him to be shorter than I). Other skaters as well...
I give you props for looking up those interviews Alba, but please tell me - do you recall an interview where she said that after many hours of training, she was fed up with her music?
I'm so sure I read it somewhere, it's killing me!![]()
Such boring choreography. One just and a bunch of repetitive movements. But Marina shouldn't be sexualizing a child no mater how mature someone is.

Hi everyone! It's my first time posting, I've been a lurker lol but wanted to share my views on Yulia because I'm such a huge figure skating fan since I was little, and she's my favorite female skater now. I've been following her since 2013 and I have not given up on her. I've seen a lot of harsh comments on her skating since last season (on other forums or threads), like she's over, she can't do anything else, she's boring... but I don't think so... I think every skater has their own time to grow up and she's still young, and I absolutely love her long program music this season and she has definitely improved her artistry. I agree with someone who posted that this may be mental, she needs to regain her confidence. I'm really happy that she hasn't given up!!![]()

) woman and she needs a lot of work to overcome this problem. This is the reality. But every girl has to do this step during the life, so it's nothing impossible or tragic. She'll understand it (if people stop to talk about trash things) and at the end she'll be so pleased that every little victory will give her a bigger pleasure than everything else from the past. That's the message that we have to send to Yulia. Not imaginary problems that don't help anyone.Welcome!
I can't stand all this chitchat about Averbuch, Eteri, Eteri's daughter, Medvedeva, Tara Lipinski etc.... Really, I can't stand people who talk continuously about it, exaggerate the thing, making it a crucial world's problem with international conspiracy and so on... Please everybody, cut it out. Let's see what Yulia is ACTUALLY doing. She's struggling because she's growing into a (WONDERFUL) woman and she needs a lot of work to overcome this problem. This is the reality. But every girl has to do this step during the life, so it's nothing impossible or tragic. alkaid.weiyuyang: When Zhenya was late to the SP warm up, Yulia kept looking back and trying to find her. After her Gala, Coach Eteri kept encouraging her despite this was a really light program compared to her usual routines. Yulia is improving and everyone loves her.
Here's the story:
I was sitting front row right where the skaters enter the rink. So I already saw her up-close a few times...So after she did her free skate I thought she was going to go back to her hotel and rest and that was it for me (I didn't go to the EX today. I went to Notre Dame and tomorrow U-M to check it out).
So Free Dance started 3 hours later, and who shows up? YULIA and a few others...but YULIA. I was thinking about approaching them, but they were there to enjoy the event like the rest of us, so it was better to just let them be. But still so cool! Now here's the interesting part:
There was the standard huge screen in the middle of the arena, and there were smaller screens at each corner...So "coincidentally" I was looking at the screen right over my view of YULIA (it was clear I wasn't staring). And I SWEAR TO GOD, as I was looking down, I took a quick peak and SHE WAS LOOKING DEAD AT ME. I FREAKED THE HELL OUT AND casually looked back at the middle screen. You know what? People, and especially fans here, are spending too much time talking about these "extra" things instead of focusing on Yulia.
I want to talk about Yulia's performance and reactions. She said that during training she's way better than during competitions. It's because she's losing a bit of confidence and I think the main reason is the Lutz. She has trained the Lutz during summer but I think she's still not ready to bring it in competition. And this insecurity reflects on every other jump (where she usually had never problems). I know that in Russia if you don't have the "whole package" you can't shine, but right now Yulia doesn't need to do enormous things to shine. She has to focus on her strong points, and her 2A+3T is beautiful and seems "easy". Why not doing this combo twice on the second half like Miyahara?
Is it a shame if she put the "solo" triples at the beginning? Obviously not. I think without the "obsession" for the Lutz she can perform an easier Flip and bring back the Loop. She needs a clean skate to regain confidence. Once she has it again, she can push herself higher again. Will it be enough this year for Russian standards? I think not, but she still has so many years ahead. Look at what Adelina and Liza has done (but also Mao and Carolina). She has the best examples in her "family"![]()
I don't care what anyone says.....her Leningrad StSeq is amongst the best in ladies skating this season. Considering how busy CoP programs are these days it's nice to see a StSeq that flows and isn't just checking off the requirements with little purpose or done at a brisk pace.
. and finally .....

), this was SUPERB! Racy, bold, whatever, let her BE. The Tempo of the music and the Choreo: superb. The repetitions: loved them. Movements punctuating the words, really daring.
