Yulia Lipnitskaya

Yulia.....Darth Urmanov is your father.

I wonder who her Yoda is? Please say it's Tat!!!!

I always thought Mishin is the Yoda of figure skating.

"Yulia ... Yulia ... you will go to the Sochi system. There you will learn from Alexei, the skating master who learned from me ..."

And I think Yulia has her own ideas who might be in league with the dark side ...

Finally watched her programs and she really does look light and ethereal here. Very happy that she nailed all her jumps and showed massive, massive improvement from all the other competition.

Also, this skate is legit a big middle finger to some who apparently thinks she doesn't have competitive grit like Evgenia or Lena. Honestly, this girl is a little warrior.

So I really enjoyed her performance here, I think that she had something I had never before seen in her and I really loved it. It's like she's broken through a boundary and reached a new level. And I mean presentation-wise. The technical improvements are of course nice as well but this performance gave me a feeling I've never before had from her... And actually didn't from anyone else in the competition, at least in the SP.

Hey, do we have any information about her planned content for the FP? Will she do two 2A+3T, or will she try another combo with the 3T? How is her flip? And the salchow? It was quite pretty at SA. And I take it the loop might out of the question yet. Ugh, I just want her to skate well and be satisfied - if she gets a place in the podium, even better.

We are greedy, aren't we?

Dreaming is for free.

But I mostly want her to actually skate clean, or at least try not to give up in the middle of the program. If it comes with a a medal or not, that's after the skate - which is my main concern.

As we say here: l'Appetito vien mangiando.

I just say yes to all. I think this is what was missing on her - even in the Sochi season. She needs to be more greedy, she needs to want the entire world. And for me, in the SP she was exactly like that. I mean, people were talking how the short wasn't really her problem, but this year she didn't do even a clean short in competition, and she seemed like a total different girl today - yesterday for some already - there was fight and fun, both at the same time. She seemed to be really enjoying herself, and I didn't feel like she was ready to fall apart.

So, yes, I think she should be more like that, she have the talent to back her up.

As I always said, her main problem was psychological. This is the most delicate period and she needed a different management and approach. I had no doubts in my mind that the change was spot on for her. Sometimes it's all you need to shake things up. However, there is still a lot of work to do and patience will be needed. The important thing is that she is in good hands and already making huge improvements. I would be thrilled to see another great skate tomorrow, but if not I'm still more than okay because I have only positive feelings from her.

Oh, yeah. I don't think she actually has it in her to be greedy and want everything right now, otherwise I don't even think she would have been skating until now. She needed a boost of confidence, that was this skate, to make her see that she can do it. I want to see her trying her hardest, even if it doesn't pay off right now - although, as you can see, I'm not opposed to it paying off right the f**k now :yahoo:

She seemed to be on a different page from the entire last season, and even the first GPs this year. You can see that she wants to be better, and now the coaching team seems to be on the same page as her. Now I think we - I - need to be patient for a while.

I just watched her performance and I LOVED IT. All three of her jumping passes were in the first half before but now the 3-3 is in the second half. That, along with the tano lutz should mean that she solved some of her stamina issues. Speaking of the 3-3, her smile when she landed it was so cute and great to see. Yulia was excellent today. I wish all the best for her in the free skate! :)

Still would love to know what TAT shouted as she landed the combo and then as she finished what she said if a Russian speaker could kindly translate? :)

It struck me earlier that Urmavov has experience in his own skating career of being under pressure in Russia with rivals ;) and he could be an asset there as well in helping Yulia deal with the packed field and how that affects one psychologically.

Just saw Yulia’s performance & I literally found myself crying at the end! I haven’t been moved so much since her Schindler’s List program. And I know I wasn’t the only one since Tatiana Tarasova sounded so happy it seemed like she couldn’t breath & at the end of the Russian commentary video of her performance, you can literally see a women put a hand on her heart as a sign of relief. I love how she embraced Urmanov and her new trainer. What a great Christmas present (for those who live in the US). Praying for her to have just as strong outing tomorrow. Literally, the performance of the ladies SP! :hap57:

Yep - I made a remark in the SP thread - whatever she was needing be it mental or technical (maybe a little of both) - she is finally getting from Urmanov. It's a shame that the Fed didn't let her leave last year like she supposedly wanted to.

I rewatched the program now and I really must say that I love her hand/arm movements (she does finish the movements) and that the parts of the program that seemed a little static before (and her performance at TEB was already very good!) are fast and dynamic now. That must be Urmanov's touch.
