Yulia Lipnitskaya

I need more reliable source than some translation of some copy of some post of some user on some internet forum, sorry. ;)

Is someone holding a gun to your head demanding you believe it? This is what exists, you don't believe it, fine. You're free to look for something that satisfies your criteria.

As for Yulia being Jewish or not, it's a rumor about her mother's side but I don't recall any official statements by her and her choreographer denied it flat out. So again, believe what you will. It's not like it changes a single thing about Yulia the skater anyway.

OK, but there is a bit of double standard here.
It's safe to say we usually ignore or even condemn rumours regarding Julia from yellow newspapers, anonymous posters, sometimes even genuine Averbukh's interviews. We basically assume fandom is better than that and posting it would be nonsensical. It happened many times and it's one of the reasons I love this thread and respect it's participants. :agree:

Now one alleged post from some internet forum that most of us have never even seen with our own eyes and regarding a serious matter of athlete's health, is being multiplicated and presented as a sure fact (like you did above). :scratch2:

I saw the video before I ever read the post, to me it was obvious she had a shoulder issue, it's quite clear there was something wrong there. This is a forum, nobody should take anything as absolute gospel and everyone can read what was written, where the info comes from and then make their own choices. Even things coming from her team directly may or may not be true, if you want to take it that far. In any case, you can take it as you like but I don't see the point of a combative post as yours. I mean, carry on and all that for all I care, I have way better ways to pass my time :confused2:

"Does it matter" that Julia likes horses?
Is colour of her apartment walls "a big deal"?

Since I don't think she has ever stated her ethnic/lineage background or religion flat out, I'll just assume she's a hippie Buddhist who likes to cuddle lions, paint her living room walls seizure-inducing colours, and is super picky with her music selections. :agree:

Isn't Judaism a religion? Judaism is not a genetic thing, despite what some Jewish people might want to believe. :drama:
Even if Yulia had Jewish relatives from mom's side, that would not make her Jewish. Some Jewish people might want to believe there's a sacred blood lineage or something, but that's just a subjective view. As a matter of genetics she is Slavic/Caucasoid and that's pretty much it. "Race" does exist in Science in forensics, organ compatibility and other fields.

In all seriousness, and this applies to all aspects of life, not just sports. When someone says NO something (and means it), stop pushing!
Anyhow...Alexander Gorshkov has made it clear that Yulia has no intention nor interest in taking up pairs. So that's that.

True, but Yulia herself has expressed strong interest in ice dance. Whatever happens, there will be no change until after the Olympics.

In addition to the Yulia quotes below, she recently spent time with Ekaterina Rubleva and Lambiel. Both emphasize dancing in different ways. Leaves is all dance, there is no programmatic content evident to me. Likewise with Elvis. Her improvement as a dancer is easy to see. Yulia intends to be a great dancer whether in singles or ice dance.

from an interview last season:

EV: While you were still dealing with all the hardships in Moscow, did you consider leaving the singles skating? For instance Sofia Biryukova, who switched to pairs and is quite successful there.
YL: After I skated in Marina Zueva's group at the Autumn I really wanted to try ice dance. So bad that when I came back to Moscow I was driving my mother nuts to send me to the ice dance. I thought everything would work great for me there: I'm tiny, flexible, it would be easy to lift me and am not afraid. In the USA I even tried skating with a partner, it was so cool!

EV: What stops you from doing just that after the Olympics in Korea?
YL: I will be 19y.o. which is a lot. It takes a while to get used to a partner in the ice dance. It's what I was told when I shared the idea with someone: `Are you nuts? People spend 8 hours a day just learning to glide together'

EV: You could switch to pairs.
YL: No, I don't want that. I love watching Volosozhar/Trankov and Stolbova/Klimov, but I can't even imagine being a female partner. It's scary even just looking at some of the elements.

So, is it confirmed, then?

Her last two posts on Instagram show a Sochi sunset (about 4 days ago), and a picture of her practicing posted the next day. I interpreted this as a message that she has recovered and training normally.

Seriously, some people just don't get it. NO MEANS NO!

It looks like somebody asked him to comment, and he responded, because his speech starts with, "I see nothing wrong with this [idea]."

I'm rather surprised that even during the GP journalists have nothing better to do than to mull over some idle comments and bother people to comment on comments! Well, it shows Yulia's popularity, I suppose.

That was my impression. The second article would not have existed without the first and the solicitations of a go-getter reporter. A better approach would have been to research Yulia's interviews and write about her professed interest in ice dance. Then the reporter would have had something worthwhile to reveal rather than misleading his readers further. It's amazing/sad how much is written about Yulia without the slightest appreciation of what she thinks, even though she has supplied everything needed to be sensitive and accurate.
