Yulia Lipnitskaya

Although I really want to see her skate the beautiful sp again, I think not competing russian cup is a good choice for her. This gives her more time to recover from the injury

Plushenko called her the little genius. So join his troupe, it will pay the rent if she has financial problems which I doubt. Who wouldn't want to see Plushenko and Lipnitskaya under one roof? Unlike competitions, shows can be shaped by the performers. With some imagination the dream duo will be rock stars. Then there is the internet. For most of us, watching skaters is limited to watching videos, and those who do attend competitions turn on the videos afterward. The internet would allow for much more than the performance, she can skate, talk, draw us into her world. For the masses, nothing can compete with the internet for intimacy and first-hand experience. Yulia is all about intimacy, genuine intimacy. The competitive arena is cold, it suffocates. Unless the December fall has crippled her, there is no reason for pessimism.

I have a better idea. Plushenko will open his Academy 1-2 months time. That would be great if Plushenko would be Yulia's coach. She could move back to Moscow wouldn't be alone...This is not against Urmanov, they were so unlucky together because of Yulia's injuries. Urmanov once said Yulia is not a difficult personality just she has champion menthality or something like this. Yulia's mother knows what she wants she is a very strong personality..Oh, I would like to see them together so bad!!!!:hap85:

^No offense to him, but has he even proven himself as a coach yet? Yulia just changed coaches not too long ago, and it seems to have improved her technique and performance a lot, despite all the bad luck. Also, I'm under the impression that she seems to really like her new training environment and how there's not a ton of paps/fans following her all the time as was the case in Moscow. The only difficulty she has is that of living independently away from her mother...something she probably would have to do eventually anyway as she becomes an adult. Why would she just abandon a good situation for a guy who only just started coaching? And yeah, he is a legend and all that, but that doesn't automatically make him a great coach.

Hm. Yulia probably likes Moscow, too. Plus she needs to handle the popularity as many other famous persons do it. He is not a child anymore. I'm thinking about my idea and I like it more and more. And don't worry about Plushenko's coaching. He has coaching degree for a long time, but what is the most important he knows the FS world very much he has many knowledges. He had experiences with not only with children but with adult skaters, too. And you don't forget Sergei Voronov said it:

"When you are next to an extraordinary person, and Plushenko is an extraordinary person, it's not just a compliment, you start to feel different. It's another atmosphere, another energy, another attitude. Strong competitors make you stronger."

I'm sure Plushenko can help Yulia.

It would be a shame to see her go, one of the most talented skater we have right now. Even if her technical abilities are a bit down right now, she can sell the heck out of her programs and we need skaters that do this.

Yulia needs to make her decisions alone now, only so she can learn what´s best for her. I wish her the best! ;)

In most situations I would agree. Yulia is definitely not in a typical situation.

There is a strong personal bond between Yulia and Alexei. It has developed slowly. He took her at the lowest point of her career, after about 1 1/2 years of intense work she has regained the skills to compete again. Jumps and spins are just part of their accomplishments. They believe in each other. They are on the threshold of success, what remains is to deal with her FS performance that is so different in practice than in competition. Alexei and Yulia are convinced the issue is psychological, a classic X factor. Psychological healing always requires trust and confidence in someone close who will work together toward change over time. Tarasova said Yulia is loved. All the pieces are in place. At this stage it would be risky for her to walk away from a relationship that potentially is the key to full recovery. How much her injury from the accidental fall has complicated this delicate situation is of great concern.

Here are a few lines from the recent interview where she talks about the shock of her FS failure at Rostelecom, that she feels sympathy for Alexei, and her feeling of regret over how things have turned out. These are powerful psychological forces that can make a difference. After Rostelecom Cup many of our female skaters expressed the words of encouragement to support you in the social networks, but still figure skating is said to be an exceptionally individual sport.
I have received a lot of letters from different people: figure skaters, fans, even from the people who aren’t very interested in our sport. This is very important to me, especially in hard times. To be honest, I was shocked myself because of what happened during the skate. I won’t go into details. This is not called for. Of course, this kind of turn of events was difficult to foresee. My coach and me had absolutely different plans and in any case. To be honest, I don’t envy Alexei Evgenievich. Don’t know how he endures and stands all of this. I feel bitter that everything happened that way.

We can be optimistic knowing that she intends to resume training, the most positive indicator there is. Do you remember this unequaled performance? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YaVfbMwtO0 She was ferocious from 1:40-2:30 , represented the violent music to perfection without a single gimmick. I have no doubt she will find ways to continue skating as long as her body can tolerate the abuse.

From the FSO insider (unverifiable, of course):

"Urmanov is not to blame for Yulia's health problems. These problems are 5 years old already. And about her "underground" manner you know already. "

There were nuts blaming Urmanov already? :roll9:

Nah, just noise. Meanwhile, I took time to translate one of the poems that fans dedicate to Yulia on her VK group's page. No rhyme of course, just the meaning, I just hope it conveys some of the feeling.

Do you see the spectator? No, he isn't a fan.
Why is he here? It was just on occasion.
Something happened, and a ticked would go to waste.
"Perhaps, you will go?" - "Well, if only to kill time".

The spectator just sits there, munching on his popcorn,
And thinking - something about the euro rising and falling,
And that he shouldn't forget to by food for the cat,
And maybe something for himself, to calm the nerves.

The spectator is self-absorbed, not looking at the ice,
But then he catches a motion out of the corner of the eye
A turn... a glide... a brave ascent,
And all mundane thougts suddenly get all mixed up.

They have all just dissolved... for at that very moment,
The wind-girl was tearing masks off of people's hearts
The spectator takes a breath... and, being drawn completely
Into that mystery - forgets to exhale

How much time passed away? The question is moot.
Time, just like everyone, got frozen in mid-tick.
The audience soars away, or, perhaps, freezes into the ground,
As the girl spins, taking the planet with her.

It's enough. Time to stop pushin the universe off its course,
someone decides, starting the clock back again.
The audience unfreezes, shouts "Hurray!"
The girl smiles.... and just glides away.

The spectator... What is in it for him anyway?
He will, again, be thinking of daily bread.
But there still will be something he won't forget:
The girl's brave look, the heart on the ice and the kite, high in the sky.

There is also some music that goes with it:

I went back to look at Yulia's Cup of Russia SP. Her jumps are quite lovely, IMO better (when she lands them) than a lot of top women's today (including Zhenya's....) Of course, she needs to land them, but I don't see the tiny, muscled jumps with little flow from back in her Sochi days. I hope she takes the time to heal her injuries after which a comeback which is nowhere near impossible. Yes, the Russian ladies' field is deep, but they have room for Yulia.

I miss Yulia's gorgeous schindlers list program from the Olympic season.... My dream is for her to bring it back but play a more mature womanly role rather than the role of the girl in the red coat.:agree2: If she could bring this program back to the Olympics it would be the greatest thing that's happened to me in skating (other than JOSHUA FARRIS'S COMEBACK OF COURSE)

In the mean time Yulia's Sochi team event SL video has cleared 5 million views and keeps going up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ke0iusvydl8

Is it the mostly viewed ladies' FS competition youtube video ever? I am not talking about some funnies with kids.

Currently yes, Yuna's videos also have lots of views but her Sochi one is her the most viewed one (4,3 million), lots of her older videos were deleted because of copyrights etc. and I heard they also had loooots of views but not sure if they ever reached 5 millions before deleting.

But there were a lot of them that kept getting deleted and then reuploaded. Yulia has those few official ones from Sochi team event. So it's hard to say.

If you search "figure skating," Yulia's video is first though.

When my collegues are ill and I'm the expletive teacher- not PE, what is my expertise - I used to show sports videos and I always show FS videos, too. I show Yulia's Schindler's list and Plushenko's Nijinsky programs. And they adore them.

I'm slowing growing disinterested in FS with Yulia out at the moment...

I mean all the other skaters are great...but the magic is missing. Sucks that she had to be plagued with so many setbacks this season, but better now than next year I suppose. I hope that in time, people will remember all that she has achieved, and that she doesn't just end up the Olga Korbut to Evgenia's Nadia Comăneci or something (not that I dislike Evgenia or anything, she's a favorite too).

This magic? :)

It was just year ago, you can almost touch, taste and smell the most authentic, tender love emanating from the audience. What this girl did in short period of time to people's minds and hearts is one of the great stories in sports, worth a book, maybe a film.
