Yulia Lipnitskaya

Give her time. She may say it but skating is in her blood and I am sure she will return to it on her own terms, for her own pleasure and enjoyment, kind of like Josh Farris in this respect (tho we have yet to see him this season...) Yulia has certainly earned the right to move forward in her own way. When we see her next, it will be a true gift..

Well, she's the Greta GARBO of figure skating!

YES. Not only because of their reclusive tendancies to stay as far away from the spotlight as possible, but also because of their 'less-is-more'/'subtle-is-best' philosophy to performing. Garbo was a rare actress, and an even more reluctant movie star. During the silent film era when most actors were over-contorting facial expressions to compensate for the lack of verbal dialogue, Garbo was able to convey a lot more emotion/sensuality with the slightest of change in body positioning and facial movements, this quality carried through even after her successful transition into the 'talkies' (pictures-with-sound). For me, Yulia is also a unique introverted performer in that she never needed to project to the audience nor mug the camera in order to get their attention or evoke emotions, you are drawn into her world unknowingly and willingly...and that is magical.

Julia's expressions are the whole science.:love:

From what I've gathered it's not even certain she'll skate this season.

I think it'll be nice if she kept last season's programs, she didn't get to really skate them.

I can see Julia as someone who could return to skating even years from now, once her body has fully healed and when she is fully prepared, and in a way which enables her to really be treasured for her unique strengths. I for one, will be patient.

Does anyone know when the test skates will be held and if they'll be filmed?

EDIT: Nevermind, apparently it will be around september 9th and it will open to the public, so someone will film it! I hope Yulia participates and is in good form

has anyone else noticed that yulia locked her instagram account?

i accidentally unfollowed her and now i can't get back in. whoops.

Why do I feel like this isn't a good sign?

Perhaps she locked it some time ago but it wasn't noticeable because people following her didn't see any changes. Maybe she locked it after all the weird/rude comments she received when she resurfaced. But it does seem odd when you already have over 280k followers. I followed her a few months ago and it was public back then

Will Yulia be coming back? If she does, she could get a spot in Rostelecom Cup.

they said that they'll make a decision (her and her coach) after the test skates this autumn. if she does well (and decides to continue competing) perhaps she could get the TBD rostelecom cup spot?

I remember someone mentioning that Urmanof said she was back on the ice. I don't know if that is true though or where it came from.

But - and that really isn't proof of something - in the last picture Yulia posted on Instagram, she seemed like she had lost weight (compared to those photos from her new apartment). It could be results from training, it could have no correlation at all.

Either way, we will find out on September 10th. If she shows up for the Russian test skates that means she is still going for it, I really hope she does...

For what it's worth, I believe she did lock her Instagram shortly after the nasty comments-- I know because I don't have an Instagram account and I regularly look at skater's accounts, and hers has been impossible for me to see for some time now.

I don't think she's even training since last time she was in Moscov and it seems she didn't come back to Sochi, while
Urmanov was training some other young skaters.

Also, training for the test skating in september had to begin one month ago at the very least, and till now we don't know anything about her preparation.
