Yulia Lipnitskaya

Julia and Adelina won't participate in test skates.

I'm really saddened over this turn if events. It could mean that perhaps Yulia needed more time to train (since the article said that she is still recovering), but in all honesty I think that she stopped. And the worst is that I don't think this was a voluntary decision. Last season she did this interview and kept talking about all the competitions she was planning to take part and it really showed how determined she was about coming back, even after Rostelcom Cup. I don't think she stopped wanting it, but maybe it's beyond her now.

Since the federation announced that she won't take part in the test skates, I'm expecting an announcement soon. Not necessarily of retirement, but an announcement no less... :(

Yulia has so much talent, it's always a pity watching talents like that stop, but she has a strong character and is truly smart, I have no doubt that she'll lead a good life that fulfills her if she decides to retire

I was thinking that pehaps she cannot do any anoucment concerning the future of her career, because she has a contract with Adidas she's supposed to respect until the Olympics?
What do you think?

That was my first thought too. Unfortunately will might have to wait until January-February to have an official announcement

Sponsorship don't last forever, i suppose she had yearly contract with adidas and it's expired yet.

I'm not worried about her life, she can be happy with skating or with other things, i'm not the one who want stubbornly her return to skating.

It's the same with Pitkeev, someone send him message to come back to skating, but i have seen his instagram page and he's very good at guitar and i think he has a bright future with music.

I agree, voluntary or not retirement, she'll find something else.

The Adidas contract thing could be true though since her contract was for 4 years (to help her for the next olympics)

Valentin Piseev (general director of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia) : "In my opinion situation of Lipnitskaya is similar to the story of Adeline Sotnikova. The sooner she finally draws conclusions and make a decision, the better it will be for everyone to not make a fool of fans. Figure skating fans shouldn't be misled. Everyone understands that when there is Evgenia Medvedeva, Elena Radionova, Alina Zagitova, it's difficult for Lipnitskaya to fight with them."

Edit:
Yulia Lipnitskaya finished her career

Yulia mother told that she finishs her career and added that Yulia told the leadership of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia about her plans to finish her career back in April, after returning from Europe, where the athlete underwent a three-month treatment for anorexia. Julia's mom also thanked the company "Telesport" for helping Yulia in a difficult time for the athlete.

Even if this is no surprise, it's still making me sad. I wish Yulia all the best. I hope shes's going to take care of herself and finds something to fill the gap skating is going to leave.

I am utterly heartbroken, for she is the one who piqued my interest in this sport, but her health does come first.
You will be missed in competition, Yulia. :sad21: <3

I was devastated when I saw the news tweet in Russian with Yulia's photo. I knew what it was before I google translated it. I'm heartbroken. Feel like energy just left my body. We all know well that this is coming but--I've been in denial. Now that it's official there's no escaping.

I wish the best for Yulia, I hope she'll be happy and well.
