**** I finally found the Yulia thread! FINALLY!

Anyway, I kinda wanted to add that maybe, just maybe, she made that skating academy with Elena Ilynikh because of the physical trauma skaters go through to win. She was one of Eteri's skaters but she managed to get out. These young skaters don't know what they're getting into, heck, even Alina didn't know she'd suddenly usurp Janny. Besides, have you seen the jumps the girls have been doing? Sasha Trusova (another Eteri skater) did a fully rotated quad and she's 13. Seems to me these Russian coaches (or Eteri at least) have no concern for their physical health either.

And I've been following Academy-Ilinykh-Lipnitskaya on IG, they really wanted to focus on the PCS and jump technique. Their skaters will be in very good hands. :3

Well, Sasha is obviously the type who would try quads even if coach would prohibit her to do that, so its better to prepare her for it properly.

Welcome to the thread.
Yulia was so stubborn she would endure any and all physical and mental hardship for another chance. Fortunately she went to a clinic where they were able to undo 14 years of indoctrination and set her free, contrary to her expectations when she went to the cinic. I have no doubt she will fight for these kids with every means at her disposal. Elena is another smart one, they will make a formidable team. I would not want to be on the other side of that duo. I've been waiting for that book from Averbukh (or Julia herself), discovering all the group's mysteries from the past quad, but some people in this thread seem to be so astonishingly well informed, that I might not need it anymore... :rolleye:

I just follow the academy's IG account. I don't understand Russian (but my Cyrillic is getting better), but IG does a fairly good job of translating Russian captions. I mostly figured what their goal is from the post where Yulia posed with Alina's little sister. :)

This is the best interview where Yulia talks about the clinic and its aftermath. It is vintage Yulia, a good read. From the end of the first paragraph: "I had to seriously think about many questions, because I was sure that I would recover and return to figure skating. In this I was sure, and everyone was sure! Mom, coach, everything ..." Further down she talks about how she began to "panic from all this uncertainty." And now we read that at the Academy "Our distinction will be a focus on sports psychology and innovations."

Averbukh isn't capable of an honest thought about Yulia, don't waste your money. It would be out of character for Yulia to write such a book, she would start an academy instead.
 
Just a thought regarding athlete diet/weight: Sugar is responsible for cellulite, excess weight, including starch which converts to sugar in the body. Nutritional counselling should be part of skaters' training from the get-go and high nutrition diets prescribed... everything taken in must boost nutrition with optimum sound good health as the primary goal. Such a diet can be delicious, fun and eliminate cravings, anorexia, bad relationship with food. I pray Yulia and Elena will include a staff nutritionist in their new venture.. and GO you two!!! Give it all you've got!!!
 
^^^ This is going to be really interesting. The Israeli clinic changed Yulia's life through self-awareness. She had been the #1 stoic, but that "page was turned upside down." There is no one better suited to bring constructive change, anything is possible with her extraordinary combination of experience, intelligence, energy, sensibility and charisma.

And who do you think is? Eteri? Dudakov? Yulia's mother? Yulia herself?
Are you sure, it'd be in any of these people's interest to say the whole truth? I'm pretty sure, it wouldn't.

Every life is a theater, it has a stage and a backstage. Let's not pretend any of us has been anywhere else than in the audience of Yulia's life.
