Yulia Lipnitskaya

I don't mean to sound insensitive about the situation with Denis Ten but...Yulia commenting about skating in shows????

It looks like she's saying that she declined his invitation to take part in his show in Kazakhstan, promising to do it next time, but next time never came, and she regrets it, so she's admonishing her fans to spend time with people while you have them instead of taking them for granted and assuming they will still be there later, which isn't an inappropriate or insensitive post to make.

I think amei means that we would feel insensitive for getting excited about her talking about skating in an ice show. In contrast to Denis’s tragedy it is exciting to imagine her skating in a show. I know it is for me :)

Oh, okay.
Yeah, I'd like to see her skate again. I always savor the Instagram snippets when she's gliding around the rink with her little students. It would be nice to see her spin again, just to see if she still "has it." I bet she does. :)

So according to Polina Shelepen’s instastory, Schindler’s List was originally for her until she left. I hope this clears up any longstanding confusion about the origins of that program, since the official story seems to have changed a few times. ;)

Well I don't want to say Polina's lying but both Eteri and Yulia have stated that Yulia picked Schindler's list and people were trying to talk her out of skating to it and they went through several choreographers until they found someone, Averbukh, who would do it. *The video below starts at 11 minutes where they are talking about her FS:

Well, I’m just passing along information as I thought it was relevant to this thread. I don’t think Polina is lying at all. Shelepen is a Jewish name and while that doesn’t necessarily mean anything, it makes sense that the program might’ve originally been in the works for her until she left. I don’t know why she would lie. The program’s origin story has changed a few times, btw. So the truth appears to perhaps have been at least partially changed and obscured. Once again, I’m just passing along relevant information. Do with it what you will.

It’s completely possible that Polina influenced Yulia and a few years after she left she chose to do Schindler’s list. They were really close at one point...Polina was a bit of a mentor from what I understood. Not a big deal really.

I’m sure one out of ten skater may have wanted to skate to Schindler’s List at some point, especially Polina granted her Jewish heritage. I would’ve loved to see how Polina’s program would’ve turned out under Eteri, I wonder who they would have chosen to choreographed it (I don’t think Averbukh was Eteri’s go-to-choreogrgapher circa. 2011-2012, nor was Dani G. around at that time), perhaps by Eteri herself maybe? She did do a great job with Polina T.’s GoT short program.

TBH regarding wanting to skate to the same piece of music, it doesn’t really make much difference, it’s great seeing everyone’s unique interpretation of the music and theme (eg. Katarina Witt, Paul Wylie, Joshua Farris, etc), as you can’t really compare any of those programs/performances/interpretation with one another, because each program highlights the strengths and abilities of each skater, and would’ve looked/turned out completely different had someone else skated to it.

The academy is really a traveling act! Angarsk is really out there right! I mean that’s pretty much Mongolia and China. Are they on their way to Japan and stopping here on the way? I keep seeing mention of a master class in Japan.

Yeah, this is so cool! The Yulia/Elena World Tour 2018: Bring your kids and learn to skate! :hap10:

Nice! Didn't know they were travelling like that.

https://twitter.com/FSIgstories/status/1026453396100984832 Not sure if this has been posted here yet. She looks really good! Will she be doing broadcasting again in the upcoming season?

Looks like a fun little day adventure

I really hope she continues with broadcasting. She’s one of the good ones. She clearly roots for Russia but her dialogue isn’t fueled by bias. She seems to see things from the skaters point of of view.

All these new programs coming out ...I just wish she had a new program too
