Yulia Lipnitskaya

She listened to Haircut yesterday.

By the way Averbukh used Megapolis for Ksenia Makarova's FS in 2012-13 season - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtgWCpoqB9o

I noticed chatter about that on one VK page and watched it. I don't remember it from watching Russian Nats:slink: but I like the edited music and really think they will do a good job with Yulia's mix. Whoever "they" is. I wonder if we'll see it performed live at an ice show next summer?

With a gp and Worlds in China, maybe a good idea to pander to them a bit.

I would mix part of Short Hair and part of Reflection

Aa thank you Sam-Skwantch!
Of course it was more than worth it for Yulia :) ! Just think about the other hundreds of girls who work just as much but never even see a glimpse of success....it's a though sport. So of course she has to maintain a certain physique to remain in her position.
Btw has anybody EVER seen a real picture of her mum? I googled it a few times now but couldn't find any...
Her mom goes with her on every competition. You can see her: https://33.media.tumblr.com/4dce0193d976d995719247cbdda0cdb2/tumblr_n9o50sRIev1tuatvvo1_400.gif or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_YAwkcrMRA (since 10:04).

lol -- i does not approve:P

too noisy/etc, not soulful/etc as i'm used to hearing her skate to. i can't picture her gentle, flowing upper-body movement synchronized to this.

as to the lp: disney-anything wouldn't be my choice either, but what do i know?

anyhow, i look forward to those transitions, spins, and the lovely choreography which will surely come :)

I like her SP choice but I do agree about the LP. :disapp:
I don't think it's Reflection though. Didn't Eteri said they are not going to use vocals?

Gorgeous.

Wow that "SP" song is really good! It would definitely suite her well....but didn't she (or was it Adelina) already skate to this in one of the summer ice shows?

It was Ksenia Makarova SP in 2013

Thank you so much :)
Wow ... after she fell in her SP in Sochi
"Thank you all for your support please forgive me for letting you down"
She's so self critical and drastically realistic... shows that she was indeed VERY aware in Sochi and not like some commentators kept saying " It's because she's so young she just doesn't feel the pressure doesn't really understand. .." Gosh she was 15 then not 5 :disapp:

And her Programms. .. I actually wouldn't mind replacing Untouchables with Mulan...as long as she chooses the right part of the soundtrack (I agree that it could turn out to appear childish if she chooses the wrong one).. more energy, more changes in the music, more relatable, exciting :)

This would also be good https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KozbV_C8Igc

The Mulan Suite has the melody of the other parts but you can just pretty much just take any four minutes and it's a ready-made program https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnuPs8OMHoI

The SP music is unique and I can't wait to see her skate to it. Her SP music this past year was music I wouldn't have listened to but when she skates to it I love it.

When re-reading my post and thinking it was too bad she couldn't skate to Across the Stars like Sam brought up I started thinking about my favorite instrumental pieces. Yulia's already skated to a few of them but these are my other favorites.

Dragonheart To The Stars https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTKSUlMbp9A (my favorite part starts at 1:40)
Free Willy theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIv7fbpqiUE
Meditation from Thais - I think Yulia could bring this to life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LtiIpIJ5J2Q

Tara Lipinski said herself, it's not true at all that just because you are 15 you don't feel the pressure. Yulia and Eteri also spoke about the huge pressure they had at Europeans for example. It's just a matter of how you handle it. Sometimes you can't and sometimes you do.
Yulia most of the times is rock solid.

So now it's Mulan or Untouchables for her LP?
And Megapolis for the SP?

@Alba yes of course Tara knows her stuff when it comes to skating. But I think competitions like the GP, Euros,Worlds... are things that are only or mainly watched by fans and they know the skaters and understand yes. But during the Olympics they suddenly get a wayyy bigger exposure and people(and embarrassingly some commentators as well) watch them just because it's the Olympics not because they like skating... and if you have no idea about it all the first thing you see in yulia is:
" Youngest. Only 15. Cute face, small body...but skates incredible?! Ooo probably because she's such a little cutie, probably doesn't even understand what's going on, just happy to be here :) "

At least many people here reacted like that:bang:
That's what I meant :)

 I don't know if this appplies for commentators since most of the times they are skaters themselves and of course follow figure skating and comment for other competitions besides the Olympics. I've always find quite funny how they pretend to be surprised by creative elements from wellknown skaters that they obviously have seen a billion times already and sometimes they even know the particular skater personally and talk to him/her on a regular basis  Maybe it's part of the character they want to create, reacting that way because they want to provoke that exact "Wow Only 15 , Cute girl, Wow, Flexibility, Wow" reaction on the new audience for figure skating that just watch the Olympics, which in my opinion can be quite annoying sometimes.

That's for the viewers and they do that for almost every top skaters. How many times have you heard them about Yuna, Tessa and Scott or Davis&White saying :"OMG! How they do that?!" ;)

Well of course I don't know about Russian or Japanese commentators and the English ones are great but some German ones just aren't :D of course there's Katarina Witt but then there are also other ones that were liks : That's Gracie Gold she comes from the USA.....*skate is happening*... a 3Lo there. ..that was a 2A...*skate over* what a nice performance of *has to look up name again* Gracie Gold"
Of course not always but I have watched smth like that.

And yes I agree but the commentators always have to assume that there is someone watching who sees this for the first time ever :)

And I'm like "Shut up! Of course you know how :bang: " The viewers seem to love it though and genuinely believe in it. But I think too much subjective commentary can create uncomfortable situations and favor some people too much

Katarina Witt is a pain in the *** because she always talks TOO MUCH, like there is no tomorrow and it's annoying (according to some Germany fans).
Japanese commentators are sometimes Shizuka Arakawa and Honda and other previous skaters. They are very polite but also talk too much.
British Euro sport is my favourite but they ditch skater's names all the times (and you name to me but I won't forget him, Yazunori Hanya...) Yulia is also their victims.

Yes she talks A LOT but what I was trying to say is that she at least has an idea what she's talking about :D
With the names - haha yeah, I've heard some great versions of Lipnitskaya, from the guys who introduce the skaters when they take the ice also :
"From Russia, YOlia LIBNISKEEEER "
