This video is a great version of her Romeo and Juliet today. It's got a great tribute to her at the beginning.

Her transition out of the Ina Bauer is amazingly graceful and requires very good edges. She looks good. Everything seems to be slowing down like her videos from the summer. Especially her free leg on the jump landings. Very controlled.

I'm just happy to see her skate. That is enough for me.

:agree:

I love the shout from audience at 1:44 - "Yulia, my tebya lyubim!" (Yulia, we love you!)

Question to Russian friends: what did the announcer say after Yulia stepped off the ice? I can't understand it... :ohwell:

She said: Of course, even the super-professional sportsmen, who perform in international competitions, pay attention to what happening around them. And your support and applause - Yulia, we love you - are priceless.

Sam, Thanks for this video. It shows a lot of detail in movement. For sure this performance is very controlled, and also more eloquent than ever before. This performance is leaner than in the past. She expresses everything and there is nothing superfluous. The absence of superfluous movement creates that slowing effect for me. Everything relaxes into place, there are no contradictions between music and movement, no tensions from things that don't belong, no gaps from saying too little. The Ina Bauer and also the jumps are seamless, absolutely musical. And those spins. How does she manage to express so much just going in circles? What a masterful expression of music this is! And she doesn't look the least bit skinny. Like her performance, lean but in no way skinny.

By the time her and Elena meet in the GP she should have it refined and I'd love to see how it matches up to Elena's SP.

Two different programs completely. Thanks god two different skaters also.
I'm glad about it. :)

I don't buy into people who are saying she isn't musical enough for it.

Tell me something new from these people, please? :sarcasm:
No matter what she skates they will not change their mind. It has become an annoying argument and very repetitive, IMO.

She just needs to get her technical elements down better so that she isn't rushing to stay with it. I have faith in her ability to deliver and when she does.....this program will be very impressive.

Who was so impressive with the tech on the test skate? Nobody.
They all made mistakes, left out part of the programs or skated half.

Oh My.....that exit out of the double axel at 1:24. Megapolis is going to be an extremely difficult program to deliver. I don't buy into people who are saying she isn't musical enough for it. I love that Yulia put much effort into this SP. This one might be more powerful than her SP last year. I love this program already. And she really performed like she did at competition. So amazing! the program is already this good at this early stage. I can image she will only get more comfortable with this program.

Not really, but I don't see the big deal in not giving 100% in a test skate.
She already did the test that counts, for the specialists. I agree with you on the program though. I very much like it and I think it will be great.
Just wait and see, it needs time to mature and not even one single competition can do that.
Do you remember her last year? Compare her performance at SC with the one at Europeans for example, or just compare the performance she gave yesterday in that show in Moscow.

The important thing now is the FS. Is there any update on this?

I "fear" that it might be a remake of Romeo and Juliette because of the Ice Show that seems logical, but I hope I'm wrong.

I really really hope that she'll correct her Lutz( which I almost doubt she will) and that she'll refine the SP until the first competition( which I know she will).
I seriously want to love Megapolis as much as all you guys seem to be able to, but right now I can't ... I hope it will grow on me.

That's fine. It's not like you have to, it's normal that you might not like all the programs even if it's your fav. skater. :)

I don't like Radionova's SP per se, for example. But I like her and I know it will grow.
Besides, I have to see them skate in one competition at least. At the moment I'm watching the choreo only.
I usually watch the programs without the music at first.

Well. Comparing to other skaters, she really put more effort.
About the Lp, I think it's okay if she will redo the Juliet programs. After all it's not Olympic season and she still has time to breath until next year, when all the wonder babies come to age. This year is not that serious I think.
