Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

He was arching his back in the afterwards, he is surely injured. I am crying, kiddo, don't push yourself too hard. your health is the most important thing right now. Take a rest and forget all the ice show.

Yuzu , you did it 2014 World Champ, Congrats

now pls take a rest for the season
and let your injury fully heal

Well here I am to congratulate Yuzuru for winning his first Worlds! I can proudly say I watched him live although I was nervous. You are really a fighter Yuzuru, I'm proud of you!

As I posted in the Worlds FP thread: "I just recall what one commentator said at his [Yuzuru's] Olympic exhibition: "He was skating to 'White Legend,' but I suspect he will become a legend himself."

Yuzuru please do take care of yourself so that prediction will be fully realized. You are already well on your way to greatness.

Ok, I think now I'm coherent enough to write something.
I'm speechless so I think my post is going to be a mess.
Thank you, kid, for all the emotions, all the joy, thank you that you are such a fighter! You proved everyone that you are the best skater in the world and that you have potential to become the best skater ever.
R&J is so beautiful and I'm happy to see it finally clean. I froze at the 4S, there was such a fight that moment. I said I won't watch, but when the music started I couldn't leave...

Your lovely face and young age make me call you 'kid', but you are so mature. You put everything in this performance and...idk, for me it was more touching than the 2012 performance. I can't believe I say this, but that's it.

2 days, 2 programs which brought tears in my eyes. Thank you, Japan, for Yuzu and Mao!

I'll surely write more later but I can't find my words. I'm just happy.

Wow thanks! Anyone know if it's still streaming and where I can watch? The ceremony??? idk...just wanna celebrate haha

CALLED IT. KNEW HE WOULD LAND THAT SALCHOW

The margin was just way too close for comfort. It's amazing how he pulled through, I started tearing up at the salchow and had tears streaming down my face by the end.

Congrats Yuzuru! Rest well! Even if it means not going to ice shows for a while!

He was too happy to look tired, but he needs a break. What a fantastic season. GPF, Sochi and now this world title at home.:party2:
(and I love these emoticons)

OMG...I am so excited !!! This kid is fantastic...I don't think I have words enough to say how much I appreciate and I respect him! I'll love him forever...my favorite skater ever, ever!!

The competitional year isn't over yet and I can't wait to see his future programs! But I guess, for the moment he should take a break and rest a little! He really deserves it!

Congrats Yuzu!

I woke up early just to watch the Men's FS live, and guess what happened while I was watching his FS? IT FROZE!! Of all times! That's why I only watched half of the FS and was overwhelmed with happiness when I saw him win!! (I went back to re-watch the full FS later)

His reaction to his win was awesome as well, the way he jumped up with one arm in the air. I hope his injury isn't that bad, Hanyu-san please rest. He seems to overwork himself, I'm just more than happy that he got the world champion title. I bet everyone is extremely proud of him, he never ceases to surprise us.

He won by 0.33!! Wow!

I must say, I was excited about Worlds but also kinda scared that it might be a huge disappointment because so many people said that Worlds after the Olympics were usually a total letdown... but ho-ly-crap, what is going on over there??? If the ladies tomorrow come even close to what the men did today... actually, know what, I don't wanna think about that right now, I need to go find myself an oxygen tank.

the last group of men's FS was insane! Verner botched it, Machida nailed it, Yan has a nasty fall but fights though it, Javier was fantastic and must have been under so much pressure going in after Yuzuru cause... well, seriously, what Hanyu pulled there, that.was.just.ridiculous! I have never understood how people could get so excited when watching sports on tv but holy crap, my resting heart rate actually skyrocketed.

I've seen recordings of both R&J programs for what feels like 100 times and I always preferred R&J.1 and thought that the 2.0 version lost some of its spark - but today that program was just so beautiful to watch and he fought for every single move... I totally fell in love with the kid for the second time
And just when I thought that I was over the worst part of my fangirl-attack he starts playing with his Pooh bear in the k&c. I mean, seriously, can he get any sweeter without actually turning into cotton candy? (thanks to that scene my mother is now demanding Japanese ice skater grandbabies ASAP cause she wants one like that  it's getting kinda weird around here)

oh and about Hanyu holding his back: at the end the commentator said something along the lines of "well, I guess it's not that bad, he probably puts on a show for the cameras, but he's allowed to"... um, yeah, right. I'm not sure, but didn't I read somewhere that he suffered a foot injury shortly before Worlds 2012 but even after the FS he didn't really want people to know about it because he didn't want to make excuses? :rolleye: sure sounds like someone who needs to show off his battlefield boo-boo :bang:

what a fantastic season. Gpf, sochi and now this world title
Grand Slam!!!

GPF, Olympics, Worlds... of the all big competitions, there is only 4CC he hasn't won now... and if he'd been there this year, he might have won that too - it could have been all of them in a single season! O_o

Sharing the same sentiments as everyone else. :yay::yay::yay: I couldn't imagine the pressure that this kid has gone through! Now, the Yuzuru fandom would get boosted even more! *imagines how Tumblr would react* I can only imagine the amount of coverage he'll get! But yes, hope his injury gets okay! What he needs the most is rest!

A question though. Who is the first skater to have won a back to back gold medal in the Olympics and the Worlds?

I was crying and laughing at the same time when I saw him playing with Pooh...I never thought I would ever get so emotional watching figure skating, but this kid made me too. All the time I enjoyed so much watching this sport...but now it was just wow,I couldn't refrain myself...

Yagudin the emperor in 2002 with the legendary short program Winter and Long program The man with an iron mask. And yagudin was 22 years old at that time. Yuzuru is still 19. Awesome kid! He is the rightful successor of legendary Plushy and Yagudin!

Well 4CC this season was scheduled quite near the Olympics so it made sense for Japan's Olympic figure skating team, including Yuzuru, to skip it. Only Kanako went and I think the reason was to boost her ISU standing so she will not have to skate in the early groups in the Olympics and thus lose points as judges tend to be more conservative in their scoring earlier in the competition.

But I think Yuzuru will win 4CC sooner rather than later. And as we Yuzuru fans tend to be as ambitious as he is (am speaking flush from the excitement as to the dramatic way he won this year's Worlds :) ), I want him to have a perfect season, i.e., win every competition he enters, in 2018. including the GP events, GPF, Japan Nationals, Olympics, Worlds.

WHO said that? The commentators? :mad:The British Eurosport commentators who often show their affections towards the kid, the CBC commentator who happens to be Kurt Browning? Or the BBC? I can't believe the commentators could be that Unprofessional. Tell me who please? The kid never shows that he is injured Unless it hurts him so bad he can't conceal it.

German commentators for Eurosport. I have no idea who they are, sorry. Shortly after Javier had gotten his points they showed Yuzuru walking up the stairs and he was again holding his back and they said something like "oh my, now he looks like a 70 year old man walking with a stick. But for some part he's probably putting on a show and it's not that bad"... or something like that, I don't remember the exact words. I do remember thinking "You suck." (I don't think it was meant to be an insult, they were really quite taken by his performance and everything. But it did sound rather inappropriate, especially to those who now that the kid doesn't go around making a big fuss about every little ache.)

Worst commentators of the years. Thank you for some clarification. Since I known all British commentators, Kurt Browning and Tracy Wilson in Canada, Johny Weir and Tara in US...love this kid, all of them. Thank you it's not them.
