Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

About Takumi Suenaga. He brought me to this post http://originallove.livejournal.com/20187.html

The content of post is included in chapter 3 of Yuzu's autobiography.

Is it true that when their parents were feeling the financial burden of supporting the competitive skating of the two children, it was Saya who chose to give up her dream so that Yuzuru can in turn pursue his?

When Ice Rink Sendai was closed in 2005 due to financial problem, Yuzu’s parents had ever discussed with two children to suspend their skating, because they hardly afforded the expenses for longer distance practices. At same year, Yuzu was 10 years old (4th grade) and just won his first national title.

Saya, his sister, was 8th grade. She asked parents to keep younger brother continue skating while she would suspend herself. At last, Saya skated until her graduation of high school.

Next year, Arakawa won the Olympics gold medal and the home rink opened again not long after.

Saya has graduated from university and works for Ice Rink Sendai now. Yuzu’s former coach, Tsuzuki Shoichiro, ever said that Saya as a competing skater gave Yuzu very valuable technical support in his youth competitions. And when Yuzu and their mother moved to Toroto, she took care the most of house affairs.

I agree a news heading said: "Yuzu’s victory ties with family and also is a fight for whole family."

Jeff Buttle’s creative ideas come alive on the Stars on Ice tours

Before you knew it, Buttle was choreographing short programs for two of the sport’s top male skaters, Yuzuru Hanyu and Patrick Chan. Both were completely different skaters, so Buttle went in completely different directions for them. The two traded world record scores for those Buttle programs all year. That success put Buttle firmly on the map.

For Hanyu, Buttle chose “Parisian Walkway,” because he thought it was Hanyu in a nutshell. Hanyu had a “wild abandonment” in his skating, Buttle said. But he was shy. “It was incredible to watch him loosen up a bit and have fun with it, especially in such stressful conditions,” Buttle said. “It was one of those programs that if he didn’t commit to it, it could have been pretty bad. But he really committed to it.”

I think, this is the most detailed post i've read about Yuzu's experience about the earthquake.

thank you for the link

By the way, I heard recently that the latter part of Yuzuru's SP "Parisian Walkway" is "Hoochie Coochie Man" by Jeff Healey Band, a live version, and "Hoochie Coochie Man" is a slang meaning a stud.....Oh, Jeff.... :o:

No wonder someone in fsuniverse said Parisian Walkway is about sex, but Yuzuru' sex appeal is equal to a slice of bread. thank God he only has that amount of sex appeal, because just image... If he had the sex appeal of the whole bread and performed Parisian Walkway.

to be honest, I disagree with the whole 'sexy as a slice of bread' sentiment - but THAT was a good one  ... I need a tissue

You are my idol SuzyQ ! Thanks to you, I finally know which song was on the second part of Hanyu's SP. I knew that it was a different style compared to PW of Gary Moore, but i didn't find the name of this song ! Now I know it, and I'm discovering a new guitarist, Jeff Healey, with a special position to play his guitar. I never see that before and hereby, his LIVE at Montreux, France in which you can hear the air of the second part :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMnrMTN26x8 at 5:49 ! Especially when he drinks and play in the same time ! (at 6:59). Outsanding style, like Yuzuru ;)

Big kiss for you SuzyQ, You enjoyed my day ;)

I have a question about the usage of music in the figure skating. Maybe it is a wrong thread to ask though.
Do the athletes need to pay for using a song or a piece of classical music in a competition? How much would that be? If in competition it might not be profitable so it is okay, then how about a profitable ice show?

Edit: I found some answer myself. (http://www.skateisi.com/site/Sub.Cfm?content=Archive_AskiAIM1) It seems the facility (rinks, sports center) paying the licence fee to some big music licence companies. Not sure if athletes need to pay anything personally.

LMAO at that

ITA. :) Thanks echotpe. In her own way, Saya is as admirable and as awesome as her younger brother. Their parents must be very proud of both of them. Her name btw coincidentally in Filipino means "joy."

can I just say that I think he has an awesome signature  I always love those things where I have NO idea how that work of art is supposed to resemble a person's name  (I have no idea how people do that. my signature is totally lame. I tried to create one when I was younger, but my stupid fingers always insisted on making things readable.)

 hope wasn't like that

I feel you, I mean my mom helped me to create my signature :frown:

I was browsing through the old post in the forum and found this encounter by Mrs.P with Brian Orser back in 2012:

On a lighter note, the topic of the Pooh tissue box came up and he said, "When he was not my student I used to make fun of that. Now I have to hold it." He said this in a good natured way.

I'm laughing how the Karma come and bite Brian in butt... XD Always believe in your pooh Yuzuru!

*I keep making random post* ^^;;

^:) I'd like to think Brian Orser has made peace with Pooh. As I've noted, both of them can calm Yuzuru down, and Yuzuru does seem to like hugging his "bear"ish coach.
