Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

OMG, this board is amazing, and it's so funny!! I checked my twitter feed, and found the picture of Yuzuru's new SP outfit, and by the time i confirmed this information and was going to post it here, (total of maybe 5 minutes?), someone already posted it here, and there is already a full page to get caught up on!!!

I can't imagine how fast this thread will explode during the competitive season and how on earth I will keep up, but THANKS to everyone on the board for keeping us informed about all things Yuzuru....and for all the latest updates - literally as they happen!!

PS: I quite like the new SP costume.....I was worried that Johnny's influence might make it a bit "girlie" because IMHO, Johnny tends to go quite overboard.... This costume is simple and seems pretty tame compared to other costumes that we have seen men's skaters wear. : )

Yeah, but it's not Johnny's design. Some say we might expect a shall I say "OMG" costume from Johnny for the LP. So... it's not over yet about Yuzu's costumes. ;)
 
oh boy... it's a blouse, it's a retro blouse... *insert bitter sobs or other sounds of agony* ....why .... it's just not a good picture, I won't hate it until I see a good picture, I just won't, I have to see this thing in action... I'll go cry now

Warming up. It's not so ostentatious as R&J 2 but I still liked his previous SP costumes (WL, Etude, PW). It's like an upgrade of his Junior FS costumes, with a better cut. I need to see him performing in it. It maybe temporary...hopefully.

Now confess- you thought of the 80's and you'd totally wear this one by yourself? I'd totally wear it back then. This- a very correct named by you and I second it- elegant blouse?

The first picture gives you a better look at the entire costume and I like it tbh, I saw this picture as I was listening to his new SP music and it goes together pretty well :biggrin:

I'm looking foward to seeing how the program comes together because putting a quad in the 2nd half doesn't really reap much reward in terms of reward risk ratio. So its either a challenge for himself, OR its to connect the jumps with the music. I think its the former :laugh:

I hope it's both a challenge and a fit to the choreo. Feedback of the program on twitter seems good. Now I just have to wait for the vids to pop on line.

actually my first thought was no, not again!
I'm afraid in the 80s I was not yet in control of my wardrobe, but judging from some old pictures my mother would have totally stuffed me into something like that if she could have..... oh God... why... why with the blouses again...

It can't possibly be as bad as I think :laugh: I have a pretty active imagination, so... reality usually does me the courtesy of being less horrible and/or weird (or ugly)

I miss the random sweaters he grabbed for the Change EX

Okay, I'll shut up now and be completely positive. I said I won't hate it until I see the actual program and I won't :)
 
I'm with Pamina. Not a fan of the new outfit. Something about the cut just isn't flattering. I think it's the seams at the shoulders. Makes his torso seem really short/chunky and his neck really thin. And the glitter-dots remind me a little of Nancy Kerrigan's LP outfit in Lillehammer, and goodness me I don't want associations with that program in my head. :laugh:

But of course, program is what matters most! And Yuzu is hardly the worst-dressed Olympic champion (in fact, barely top 5).
