Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I read an article today which says Yuzuru still has only iPod, and he does text messaging by that, and the Samsung one was available only during the olympic event in Sochi.

EDIT: The article said "iPod", but, is it "iPad"? I'm not sure.

He seems to use i-pad and i-touch during his backstage warm-up. And of course, he has mac as well (for his study).

It was Yuzu himself who stated he's a visual skater and that his jumping technique is very good when he can visualize a 360 degrees image of the jump mentally.

"Basically, raw eggs are prone to salmonella food poisoning, and not safe to eat except some limited area including Japan. A certain number of Japanese get food poisoning by eating raw eggs outside Japan every year. Some Japanese seem to suffer from homesick abroad every year

My patissier friend said that they are instructed by the authority to use sterilized eggs purchased from major suppliers even if they rarely use eggs raw, and the public health center checks it occasionally. She says we have to be careful about the eggs bought from local farmers. Actually, I had food poisoning when I was very young by eating a raw egg of a chicken kept at my Grandma's.

For a beginner of TKG, I recommend cooking a sunny-side up very rare, and put it on freshly cooked (Japonica) rice, add some soy sauce on the yolk. Mix it before eat :agree:

That's JSF for you. Now and then I couldn't helped but thinking maybe they don't care about his placement and standing in the next 4 years now that they already got what they want. More like they are taking him for granted, and they seem to believe they have the rights because they invested in him before. This might sound harsh but if JSF don't stop exploiting him too much, I would rather see him retire right now. JSF have many young talented skaters to invest for the future. So I hope they will spare Yuzuru.

Really, do we know that is the JSF is so evil as we think?

1. While some of the shows Yuzuru did last summer are related with sponsors, some didn´t (Stars on Ice) as far as I know.
2. Yuzuru think that the way he can thank the people is doing shows, so he himself didn´t ask for rest.
3. There were events that weren´t sponsor events with the JSF that he pick up to help people affected by the earthquake. Hana Wa Suki, by example.
4. We really don´t know how JSF and sponsors deals work, so maybe we can get them the benefid of the doubt.
5. Maybe Orser is talking that after being forced to be in bed for 10 days, 5 days was to short for Yuzuru to be ready. There was no undercoment directed to the JSF.

JSF was supported Yuzuru since he was a littel boy, and as far as I can tell there is not as much political drama as in other Federations, so maybe they deserve a little credit and not to be villainized as we always do.

Regading JSF, I think you're a bit harsh. While I agree that they exploit many of their top talents, don't forget that they use the money to support other talentetd skaters. 

My #1 favorite is Mao and Yuzuru is my #2 and they wouldn't probably be where they are right now without the "sacrifice" of their seniors and I believe they wanted to pay it forward for their juniors. 

JSF might look like a big evil but Japan has produced many great skaters, they have many rinks, it's partially thanks to JSF.

I also think that the skaters have to learn to say no. Nobody put a gun on their head to participate on all the shows. If they feel like that it will disrupt their practice, then say no. 

My biggest regret is how Mao never seemed to exercise her right to say no, but I guess this is a part of Asian culture. For example: the sandy training rink in Armenia during Olympic, I was so mad at JSF BUT again, the ladies should've complained.

Yuzuru is 20yo now, he's an adult, I will hold him responsible in his action. If he doesn't listen to his team and decides to just do all the shows because he can't say no, then IMO it's his fault and his fault alone.

I want to compare this situation to my other favorite athlete Novak Djokovic. He always supports his country Serbia in Davis Cup because according to him that's one of his ways to make his country proud and to support Serbian tennis. He even injured himself (oftentimes) in a process. As far as I know he only skipped Davis cup this year and the Serbian tennis federation accepted his decision. 

Maybe that's what Mao, Yuzu and the others think, to contribute to the sports they love by helping their country's federation. JSF may seem like a big evil but I don't think JSF they care about their skaters. Just my 2 cents

Hello, welcome! And I agree. I don't think we can say anything for sure and we all know how Yuzuru is anyways (hardworking, always grateful). I do think there is a possiblity that JSF may factor into it, but again, nothing is certain.

This is a 22 minute special about Hanyu. It's mostly footage we've seen before -a synopsis of his career and especially 2014. Honda Takeshi is there and explains about Hanyu's current jump layout as well as saying with his more difficult layout 300 points is a near possibility.
