Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Oh!
Wonderful program! Perfect performance!
I was completely enchanted! I do not care that he made a mistake ... it's fantastic!

I agree. This is how I felt watching it. Total enchantment! The emotional movement and unfettered feeling is again forefront in his skating. I loved watching it despite the mistakes.

I'll post my thoughts here and not in the LIVE thread because I want an opinion only from people who loves Yuzuru. I'm disappointed by this program: I'm not talking about the music or the choreo which I find exquisite, I'm not talking about Yuzu's mistakes because they can happen... I'm disappointed with the jumps' concept behind this program. Yuzuru already hit stellar scores with the traditional pattern: 4T - 3A - 3Lz+3T. I don't get where they want to go putting a majestic, reliable 3A at the beginning and the 4T in the second half. Yuzuru is the further thing from an athletic skater, he's fast but he has stamina's problems. Why they want to try something sooooo risky when you don't have the need. I wouldn't call it "progress", I can stand the risks in the FP, I can accept the idea to try the 3S or 3L in the short at most (this is what I call "progress") but I don't get the meaning of putting a toeloop in the second half only to get a little bonus but forcing your skater to push his energy.

^what everyonelese said, the differece is tiny hes not doing it for the points. As he said challenge to himself. But also, I suspect it a stepping stone. He wants 2 jumps in the second half, and if he evetually adds a second quad to the SP, he'll want to still have two jumps in second half, which will have to be the 4tcombo and 3a. If that is his plan, doing this layout first is actually the opposite of crazy. The end game might still be crazy however. (If im right)

Totally agree. When I looked at the score I didn't want to watch his SP again. But then I gather myself to watch it again. And I have to say it is beautiful. He skated with unbelievable lightness!! Even the pop quad was smooth. The luzt is not much but overall very elegant. I can see a lot of potential.

Yes, the flow of his skating and step sequence was  And that costume helped enhanced his performance. The "lightness" was real. BLESS THAT LOOSE GARMENT!
But since Yuzuru is fueling up, I think he's really going to fight for that LP. Clean quad sal, anyone? (shutting up)
Also, does anybody else think his lutz has lately been a little bit...unstable? Is it b/c of the entrance of his lutz or the limited of time to prepare for it? Whenever I see his lutz now in this SP, I can't help but be like :bang:

Have anyone watch his LP full practice? Did he land a luzt in the LP? I think it's not like he is having trouble with the lutz, maybe he was having trouble with the timing of the jumps in his SP.
Or maybe because he's practicing quad lutz? But IIRC Orser has forbid him from all those crazy quads for a while.

I've seen a short clip on Instagram of Yuzuru behind the scenes doing image training while waiting for his turn to perform. He did that beautiful pose with his arms over his head. Anyone knows if there is a full video for that?:)

his lutz has always been somewhat unstable... both during 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 he popped his lutz to a single many times... and often even when he lands it sometimes tend to lean forward...

I don't know if it is a joke or no

Yuzuru seems very, very angry to himself

Yuzu:
"I cannot go back with this kind of performance. I will ruin Orser Coach’s name with this kind of performance."

From other forum

I have had Deja vu at the sentence, if I remember correctly, Mao had said exactly the same thing after her Sochi SP……

Edit: it does not mean I say that I expect the kind of performance like what she accomplished at Sochi, for his FS tonight, considering now is still the very beginning of the season.

News clip this morning.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x29liji_141108-なぜ太郎_sport?start=1

Sano-san praised Yuzuru's 3A with his spread eagles and the beautiful flow after the jump, and said to Yuzuru,
"The timing of 4T was early, wasn't it?"
Yuzuru answered "Yes, it was. It was early. Because the music is slow, I'm always conscious of the timing of 4T."
Sano "Oh, you tried to jump early?"
Yuzuru "Yes, but it is not fixed yet perfectly, I just jumped Pi!. I'll watch it out tomorrow."
Sano "You will be perfectly OK. Tomorrw is another day. You will surely get back to the first tomorrow. I'm convinced of it."
Yuzuru "Yes, I will."

I am not 100% certain, but I think saying "I cannot go back(to Japan, Canada, home) with this performance" is a Japanese expression that people do use here and there, right? I think he is merely letting us know that he is not satisfied with his SP and is now determine to do much better.

The amount he is sweating after is unreal. Not that he didn't look like that last season, but it was always surprising to see.

Kovtun has 3 quad planned in the LP, right?

I don’t know about others have said the same or not sorry… I just had Deja vu at the time when I saw it, then expressed my feeling though.

I really hope he will be perfectly satisfied with his FS tonight.

Thank you, nonchan! It's so fun

When gymnasts talk figure skating

Fumihiro Hosokawa: Hanyu-kun, the GOE for the triple axel was 3.00 (・_・;
From an eagle to a triple axel, then straight back into an eagle, wow. Also, Lipnitskaia's red border costume was cute.
Kohei Uchimura: Is it like a Shirai into a Shirai 2? (laugh)
Fumihiro Hosokawa: NO! (laugh) hmm, more like a one arm giant into a kovac and catching the bar with one hand! (laugh)
Kohei Uchimura: That's like THE release move of all release moves ( ̄ー ̄)
Fumihiro Hosokawa: That's how amazing it was! I'm counting on you next year Mura-san ( ̄▽ ̄) One arm giant into a kovac catching with one hand! (laugh)
Kohei Uchimura: If I get 0.2 more points in between those two one handed moves, I'll do it ( ̄ー ̄) (laugh)
Fumihiro Hosokawa: Go discuss it with Tomita-sensei in the technical committee (laugh)
Kenzo Shirai: Shirai into a Shirai 2... I'm looking forward to it Kohei-san♪
Fumihiro Hosokawa: It has your name so Kenken you work hard ( ̄▽ ̄) (laugh)

LOL! I also follow Japanese Gymnastics...team Japan for the Gymnasts is also so cute and funny. -Not to mention Uchimura is King of the Universe right now.

I would really appreciate it if anybody could tell me when Yuzuru is skating. I live in the USA, pacific time, and I'm willing to pull an all-nighter just to see his LP.

You're right though. I forgot all about those seasons. It's just I'm so used to seeing a clean lutz+combo in his last season SP that seeing him struggling now with it is kind of throwing me off. But hey, even great skaters out there can have a bad day. He's human after all.

@ Bonesfan: OMG THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
