Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I'm so excited for the GPF and for Yuzuru to skate in it! It'll be hard to focus cause it's around the time I have to study for finals.
 
I hope Yuzu feel much better now especially after the beautiful performance and having fun at the gala. I saw in daily motion a video in which Orser showed the daily training schedule for Yuzu to follow. Looks like it takes the tolls on him too. I believe everything will work out in the end :biggrin::cheer:
 
So many thoughts after quietly watching NHK Trophy and him making the GPF.

I will sadly not be attending the GPF because traveling to Barcelona is a pain in the neck (will be going to Istanbul for vacation if anyone has any tips...)

But I was very happy to hear on Saturday morning that Yuzuru had made the GPF. I was conflicted because his health and well-being takes priority over any competition but I knew he would have felt his efforts at CoC would have been wasted. So ultimately, I'm very happy for him.

That said, while his skating skills are beautifully highlighted by the two programs, it looks like he's sort of lost his touch with his jumps. Whether it be the injury or trauma, he definitely needs some time to recover in all aspects. With that said, I hope he at least medals at the GPF and then take some time to focus on nationals and Worlds.

Loved seeing the banquet photos! It's very sweet to watch him interact with other skaters because I feel like he has too much of a one-track mind to focus only on skating :) He looks very lovely with all of the ladies

in my mind Yuzu is like a very rare gem, the once in a lifetime treasure, which would need to be treated accordingly...:hopelessness:
 
I swear I had an internal alarm during the NHK trophy because BOTH days I woke up BEFORE my 7:30 am alarm to check the results.

*he said that what he felt was not uncertainty, it was mistrust. He couldnt trust himself, but not as negative as fear.
*he felt split inside and didnt know what to do about it.
*the moment of the collision came back and said he was scared and wanted to flee
*he said that he could not stop crying in the dressing room as he thought about what he must do next.

:cry: :cry: add this to the pressure from people's and his own high expectations, lack of training and his health. He really needs someone to talk to and help him overcome this. I really wish i could help him :cry:

Hmm I also remember him saying that at one point, he just wanted to give up.

I was discussing this with my bf the other day as to why Yuzuru is competing so hard in this GP even though he could really just make a comeback at nationals/worlds. And please feel free to discuss this because what my bf was interesting based on the knowledge I've fed him about the way figure skating works, technically and politically.

Yuzuru wants to avoid the Yuna and Patrick effect. Hear me out. Yuna had one goal in mind when she moved to Canada, 4 years prior to Vancouver and it was to get that Olympic gold. Afterwards, even with all of the programs she's put out, you can see that she's lost that spark/fire/whatever it was that kept her skating. She was skating, at that point, out of obligation and for winning Korea's spots in competition. She disappeared off the radar and off the judges' radar with her few appearances. Yes, she won Worlds 2013 but a lot of people thought she was under-marked during her short program and we all know that starting order does, to an extent, matter.

I digress, what I'm trying to say is that because Yuzuru wants to go on to compete for a second gold medal at the Olympics, he wants to put himself in front of the judges as much as possible, even at the so-called small events like CoC to him has a big impact on the layout of things in 4 years. Yuzuru's known for following "paths" that were laid out by other skaters in order to set himself up to be successful so I can see him sort of analyzing what happened with Yuna and what happened with Patrick going into Sochi (reigning World Champ for 3 years in a row but didn't boost his technical content in time for the Olympics). Accordingly, this explains why Yuzuru is so desperate to boost his technical content early on and why he insists on competing when he's not 100%

It's all a crazy theory that I was discussing over Thanksgiving and who knows what Yuzuru is thinking, but seeing the desperation in his eyes makes me feel like there's something bigger to him than the immediate media attention/pressure.

Yuzu is so painfully transparent… I think these are all human and expected reactions even from a fearless kid like him .
Actually he needs a massive support , both technical and psychological ... :hopelessness:

Yeah I agree with this analysis... also he has to prove to be the top man of this quadrennial... Daisuke ended the 2009-2010 season as the top skater, both as results and scores, but he had a somewhat poor 2010-2011 season while Patrick came along with a greater technical arsenal and comparable pcs and Takahashi was never really able to close the gap and patrick suffered the same fate last season when suddenly Yuzuru started to get comparable if not higher score than him, so I think that Yuzu is aware that there is plenty of possible contender that could surpass him if he show too big of an opening...

Yes, he really needs someone to talk to and i think it was a good decision for yuzuru to stay in japan if he has someone by his side who'll be able to understand him and everything he's been going through and not worry about miscommunications. But if he's training alone again then... :cry:

at least Yuzu will celebrate his birthday with his family next Sunday!:cheer2:
