Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I think it's up to the individual skater, but I always felt that going first (especially for the GPF where there are only 6 skaters) would be less stressful because he can just go out there and concentrate on doing his best, instead of skating last and having to know that someone else did a good job which may put pressure on him to be even better and surpass that person. Does that make sense o.o

I got you. I think that happened during worlds when he saw Machida's performance and he had a melt down performance during SP. the next day he choose to not watch other skater's performance and he came back strong(kinda..).

Yeah true! I mean, I had a really bad feeling when I saw the starting order for COC and NHK sp because I was so sure the same thing would happen (and it did).

That's an interesting observation, I actually prefer Yuzu to skate first because it really is less pressure to go first than last. (is that true for figure skating? idk) Isn't it better to get the performance over with first, then he can watch everyone else skate? Or is it better to go near the end?

he had mentioned about that on the Radio, in this at around 15:10
he says “It is said in general, that to skate in the second or third would be good for skaters due to the condition of ice rinks” and so on...
Accordingly, he would like to skate earlier??

I like both of Mao and Yuzuru’s Chopin EX/SP so so much.
I am not a classic fan. It’s a shame that I barely know some famous composers. but I already loved the music pieces because they skate to it
at first I was afraid because of his Chopin’s costume (the blouse thing lol.) but now that grown on me, I like the costume as much as his Chopin SP.
As for Mao’s Chopin Ballade costume, I did love them at first sight and that’s it. as some fans say here, I totally agree with

I think Yuzu is a type of skater that regardless of the choreography or music, he can make any program look good if he skates with passion and fight. :agree:

Yeah, that does make sense. Hopefully going near the beginning(or possibly first) at the GPF in December would be a good sign for Yuzu so he wouldn't be pressured by other skaters' performances. Then I guess it is good to get over with your program near the beginning in some cases like the GPF (but I'm still not sure though ... it could be either/or).

Fingers crossed for Hanyu to do relatively well at the GPF and make a comeback!! :yay:

Thanks. As with some other people, I am two mind about whether I want him to compete this season. If he is mentally and physically not ready, I rather he rest. My fear about Worlds is that he may be haunted by the collision memories since its the same venue.

Him making the world team probably depends on both nationals and gpf. I think the JSF has every reason to send him because he's reigning oly/world/national champion, but I think that he still has to put in decent performances at GPF and nationals to properly justify them putting him on the World team. If he's the highest ranked Japanese man at the GPF, I bet he'll be on the team no matter what.

Yikes I forgot that worlds is going to be held at the same venue as coc We can only hope he's recovered mentally enough to be able to skate well at the same venue sighs

Me too. The R&J1 program they collaborated on was simply magical.

It was definitely magical! I think they helped with his Etude in D minor program too, well at least from what i remember written in his stamp collection. That was beautiful too. i always love yuzuru's music choices for his programs when he was with abe (except for his ex programs lol). I really think she knows what kind of music that fits yuzuru's style/ ability thats why i really really want him to work with them again

Oh I didn't know that IB and NB also helped in Yuzuru's Etude in D minor program. I also love that program, and Yuzuru performed it with so much passion and energy, IIRC relating it to the victims of the earthquake. Thanks for the information annca!

Right now the choice for a choreographer for Yuzuru appears to lie with Brian. I just don't know whether Brian will engage Russian choreographers for Yuzuru as the JSF has done...

With B&B Yuzu improved his artistry dramatically in just a few weeks and they understood his real ability and his strong personality despite the very young age immediately ...

About Nanami , I think Yuzu never cut his umbilical cord with her and the fact the he skated to her programs as Exibition expecially at Olys and at Worlds says it all …and the deep emotions on Yuzu's face while he is talking to Nanami during Hana wa Saku
preparation is so sweet and funny... they're two genius who recognized each other's value from the very beginning.

In 2012 his programs were just perfect, especially the long. I don't know but since then I don't LOVE his programs (except for the last years short)

Yes, i do recall that the program has something to do with what happened in 2011 and that his costume was designed to emulate the waves(?)
Unfortunately for me, it does seem like a long shot whether Brian will be willing to ask for help with the russian choreographers for Yuzuru but i hope that if Yuzuru is willing to do it that he'll be able to support him with the decision. As of now, my dream of that happening is slim but i will continue to hope for it
My second dream is for Buttle to choreograph 2 programs for Yuzuru next season. This seems like a more attainable dream dont you think? and i love Buttle! :dance:

One of the many reasons i like what they had done for yuzuru is that they never tried to subdue his rawness and used it to their advantage. One thing that i love about yuzuru's skating is that it seems reckless, wild and doesnt care much whether or not he falls or trips on his face, he just really looked like that he wants to skate and that what i got from seeing his programs made by them.
about abe, yes, i dont think he did either. I think he is very thankful for what abe has done for him and I think both understand each other very well. i hope abe, as one of the people who guided him in his career, could help him overcome what he's been going through right now.

with hana wa saku, i was able to appreciate it more when he skated it at the nhk gala, i had never cried so much before to something that is not related to me but with everything that happened to him this past months; the criticisms, pressure and high expectations of people from him, i was able to appreciate it more.

i second that!! seems to me that they make such a good team, but i have one question, does Buttle choreograph long programs as well?? ones i remember are only short programs, not for yuzu of course, other skaters as well

I like both of his program this season, even though I don't like both Chopin and POTO. I think there's a huge improvement in choreography.

Last season I only like his SP, I watched his LP simply because it's Yuzuru who was skating disapp: David Wilson)

Anyways I really love Yuzuru's SP performance at NHK. Even though the jumps weren't there, he did so well, perfectly in time with the music. That's a beautiful program. His LP I have the feeling he hasn't gotten used to it yet, it's understandable since he only did ONE run though in 3 weeks. Let's hope he will regain some mental toughness at GPF.

I was more worried when he skated in coc and nhk and kept thinking that he's not supposed to skate after the collision but it was his decision to do so and i cant really do anything about it than to respect his decision.

His POTO is very lovely but i guess so many are doing the same theme for their program that hinders some to truly appreciate it.
not sure about the vocals though, maybe it will grow on me?(i hope so!) But i love it anyways so
