Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

If the Worlds was in the middle of April then I sure can go to Shanghai, on my way to visit my families. I think I am a lucky one who lives in North America & have families in Asia, but my schedule is so fixed....

Man I wanna be a billionaire so freakin´ bad, then I could go to every skate competition...

Edit,
haven´t seem this video posted, but it looks hillarious... they explain Javier and Yuzuru relationship... don´t understand what they said but it looks like they think real love is not between Javier and Miki, but between Yuzuru and Javier... lol...they even do a diagram...

Let’s put it in a positive way. This is the “Yuzu effect” that motivates fans to work harder to be financially successful …

I have seen young fans (high school/college kids) using Yuzu’s competition pictures to motivate themselves to study hard. The first two pictures were that Yuzu fell and then got up. The notes (Yuzu) say: if you failed one exam…get up from where you fell. Then it went on like “but if you keep failing and failing….”, in the last picture Yuzu was kicking high in the air….and guess what the note says? Use your imagination… I laughed my head off.

I made a complete fool of myself in front of Sergey Voronov at the xray machine at the airport just now...
And all I could think was, thank goodness it wasn't Yuzuru, because I would have died from embarrassment then. ;-/
And was right behind Pogorilaya, Radionova, Lipnitskaia and someone I didn't recognize (junior?) in the queue, but I don't think they noticed my struggles with the machine, lol.
I'm not a famous person people, and I'd really rather not prefer to draw attention to myself like this, hehe. Will be happy to be back behind the computer, safely admiring Yuzuru from a distance!

What did you do?!

You're welcome, though wish I had had access to something with a better keyboard than my trusty little ipod touch!
Voronov just came into the MacDonalds where I'm sitting, I wish I had the balls to go to him, apologize and congratulate him, sigh. ;-/

Noooo!!! You should have! It's like a once in a lifetime experience!!!

I desperately want to go to Worlds in Boston. My main thing is finding someone I know to go with me because I'd probably drive and it's about 6 hours away. Money is a challenge, but I want to go badly. It's not often such a big event is on the East Coast and it's kind of a chance of a lifetime?

I love this thread, btw. I liked Yuzuru before but I am such a crazy fangirl after that freeskate. It's everything that I love about the sport, and he's such a sweet guy too. He could be so arrogant with the amount of talent he has, but he's still so supportive of everyone. I loved when he was trying to get the crowd to cheer louder for Javi. Adorable!

I want to go so badly too! The main thing for me is school cause I'm a full-time college(university) student.

Nobody in this clip thinks there is "love" between them but friendship. They talk about Orser's comments on Yuzuru and Javier's different personalities and the good influence they have on each other (as he described them in his book "Team Brian"). Sorry I have just summarized, but have no time to translate everything now.

But you recognized him! I'm so proud of you! :p

Awww! And just when a number of us are planning to bridge that distance by going to 2016 Worlds!
funny, I was thinking about less distance and staying closer to home  say, Worlds 2017?

Not sure if this picture has been shared before.

Yuzu was too cute to watch ....fans described him as "a startled bunny". Wonder what the media there has done to him...

they probably asked him something in English  that would do it

Thank you so much for the photos! Yuzu was sweet as always... and he played the big brother thing there (with Shoma).

Btw, Shoma was amazing...watching his FS I could not help saying "wow". Not sure if Yuzu had that kind of speed & SS at his age.... a rising youngster as Yuzu himself was!

Speed yes, edges maybe not, but while I love Shoma I don't think he would have pulled this off https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2eNFaamRdg

Agree. Yuzuru already had better jumps, good speed and basics at the same age (17). And to be frankly Yuzuru is more of a natural jumper than anyone. People like to compare him to Plushy, but his talent is mote like Kulik IMO.
And it's not the skating skills that make Yuzuru special. It's his lightness, spirit and charm.

I think young Yuzuru had much better jumps than Shoma does now, which is why I sometimes worry for Shoma's jumps when he grows. But Shoma definitely sells/acts his programs more than young Yuzuru did; he's really very Dai-like. Young Yuzuru was very spirited, though, and so sincere in his skating. They're such different skaters, yet both of them are musical and of course both of them are awesome. I actually can't wait for when they're both on the senior circuit... their "rivalry" has the potential to be great.

The thing that pulls me into Yuzuru is his spirit and his sincerity towards skating. When he's off he can see it clearly, we can see his troubled mind, when he's on we can see his joyful emotions. When he's tired I can see his struggles. He is not a good actor.

For example at CoC I saw that he was really troubled even before the SP. At NHK I saw that he wanted it too much but he couldn't control his body. The struggle inside Yuzuru, to control his body, to make it do exactly as his mind wants, is very naked on ice. That's why I like him.

Yuzuru is calculated, clear-minded but also very emotional and passionate. At the same time he has the versatility. He can pull of Japanese pop, rock, classical, blue, jazz... And still enjoy it, he doesn't have to fake his enjoyment. That's weird and fascinating to watch at the same time.

I am not the type to like good actors on ice. That's why there are many good skaters but I never like them.

 "Being able to skate is my greatest joy" -YH GPF 2014

You can just see and feel how much he loves this sport every time he gets on that ice. Not to say anyone else loves skating any less, but for me, I can feel his love and sincerity for skating when puts every ounce of himself out there on the ice for the world to see. He may not be the most graceful and he may have his faults, but he's one of the very few skaters that can evoke such emotions from me when he skates. Its not so much the "performances" that makes me emotional but just the general feelings I get watching him on the ice. He gives 150% into everything he does, even when he has a meltdown its of epic proportions  But he always gets back up and stronger each time too....Its just amazing to me. (Maybe that's why some people call him being overly dramatic, when its really just him putting everything out there with no restraints.)

But that's probably why we might only see like 1 or 2 (hopefully) completely clean competitions in the duration of his career...hes never satisfied with "now". Both a character flaw and a merit :drama:

Yuzuru's Free Skate could be worth 202+ Points
In this show they analyzed his performance in the GPF in detail, listing all the points he got for the jumps, including GOEs. Then they made an interesting point:

The 4TL-2TL he has originally planned is worth 4,7 points more than the combination he is jumping atm.

When he can jump that, and when he can land all his jumps (the last one cost him about 3,7 technical points), and when he get’s similar GOEs like in the GPF, then it could be worth 202+ points.

Also the fall cost him some PCS points, so it could be even higher.

Just if anyone is interested. : )

getting excited :cheer:
