Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

well no other olympic champion competed in the gp the season after his win so yeah he is the first ;)
Well, I believe Yagudin did. But he withdrew from the first event because of an injury, so he competed in the SP only. IIRC, sadly enough, it was his last competition.

Yes, I believe that's correct. I think his SP was 'Drive' or something and it was really great. Too bad his hips couldn't handle it, he was so amazing.

Yes!! the piece of paper with the training schedule has made unpredictable miracles in the last two weeks, giving a lot of strenght and confidence back to Yuzu, and – most important- fixing the 4S !

if he continues the same way his FS layout will be only QUADS + 3A combos in less than 3 months! GOOO YUZUUU!!! :laugh2:

thanks everybody for updates!:)

Instead of that peakskate app, Brian should start selling that piece of paper. It clearly does a lot more for a skater! Yuzu could be his spokesperson, from NHK disaster to GPF champion in just under 2 weeks!!

At the end of that training paper it says"trust your training ". :)

 "Being able to skate is my greatest joy" -YH GPF 2014

You can just see and feel how much he loves this sport every time he gets on that ice. Not to say anyone else loves skating any less, but for me, I can feel his love and sincerity for skating when puts every ounce of himself out there on the ice for the world to see. He may not be the most graceful and he may have his faults, but he's one of the very few skaters that can evoke such emotions from me when he skates. Its not so much the "performances" that makes me emotional but just the general feelings I get watching him on the ice. He gives 150% into everything he does, even when he has a meltdown its of epic proportions  But he always gets back up and stronger each time too....Its just amazing to me. (Maybe that's why some people call him being overly dramatic, when its really just him putting everything out there with no restraints.)

But that's probably why we might only see like 1 or 2 (hopefully) completely clean competitions in the duration of his career...hes never satisfied with "now". Both a character flaw and a merit :drama:

My feelings exactly. There are various skaters out there more refined than Yuzuru and I like most of them, Shoma is an example of a refined young skater, he reminds of Daisuke whom I also love because of different reasons. But there's just something about Yuzuru that pulls me him and it's in his character. As you've said it's both a character flaw and I merit so it gives me mixed feelings. And it's in every aspect of his skating, those aspects are what makes some think of him of "sloppy" and I often notice and critize some of those aspects as well but at the same time I just can't picture his skating without his wildness. He's just explosive, but his "drama" is not calculated in the performance, it's there because when he skates it's him, he's very transparent, he doesn't hold anything back at all which makes him not able to skate a clean competition for his dear life :drama: and leads to expressive Kiss & Crys as well

Thanks alia! Maia looks so pretty.

Hehe, when I saw those golden flower (I think) appliques on Yuzuru's second POTO costume, I must admit I immediately thought of Celeste's "declaration of love" post in the Kanako thread as I'm reminded of Kanako's SP costume. ;)

People I read on Yuzuru's forum that he is not planning to change his layout for nationals. He is gonna do the same layout that he did at the GPF, the original it's probably for Worlds or 4CC.

To be honest, I like this costume. Haha. I'm a little bored with the suit-type costumes for POTO. And somehow, he can really pull it off.
It's the first costume of him I'm ok with. :) And this year's SP is fine as well. He also looked really good in the pink/white one but there was too much Johnny in it. Actually, I'd even say that the new one(esp. if you look at it zoomed in) is quite awesome, I'd probably prefer, though, if it had no golden parts.

When I saw that piece of paper Orser had prepared and his writing (he said so himself on the program that he has very messy writing), I was thinking: is Hanyu-san going to be able to read and understand this?? Maybe he didn't and just thought I'll just train really hard since he said this is supposed to be very tough....;)

And apparently the latest news is that he will is going back to Japan. I think it mentioned that he is going back to Japan in preparation of the GPF, so I guess no stop over in Toronto then.

I desperately want to go to Worlds in Boston. My main thing is finding someone I know to go with me because I'd probably drive and it's about 6 hours away. Money is a challenge, but I want to go badly. It's not often such a big event is on the East Coast and it's kind of a chance of a lifetime?

I love this thread, btw. I liked Yuzuru before but I am such a crazy fangirl after that freeskate. It's everything that I love about the sport, and he's such a sweet guy too. He could be so arrogant with the amount of talent he has, but he's still so supportive of everyone. I loved when he was trying to get the crowd to cheer louder for Javi. Adorable!

Luvsasha, I completely understand. Boston is a 5 hour flight for me, the timing at the very end of March is terrible for me at work, but... it is an incredible opportunity. I was in LA for Worlds in 2009 and it was amazing. I'm really happy I spent the $$$ and went. I hope to see you in Boston cheering on Yuzu! :cheer2:
