Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

^^^ I just want him to have a good rest and recover completely. He has not rested since the Olympics...to many ice shows, events, commercials, flying and sealed it with the collision at CoC. Hope he gets back to Canada immediately after the event. And also hope Yuzu starts to learn to say "No" to the many requests etc.

Here are the videos for the Day 1 SP News and the 12/27 Practice.

Edit: I just watched the practice video and it cut off just when Hanyu was about to start his run-through of POTO, I wonder why ...

Thank you! Yep I was disappointed that they didn't show his run-through. I was really looking forward to see how he'll do in his run-through... His flip looks great in the practice though.

I think I heard the female announcer said with 2 minutes left in that clip that the tv program is about to end. I think they just cut to the live warm-up during a scheduled tv program and has to move on. Unfortunate timing for us viewers I guess!

Good luck Yuzu! Just do the best you can!

Can I just say I can't wait for this competition to be over (like right this second right now!!!) so he can truly focus on recovery and resume to normal training schedule?

I really hope he skates a clean program today and this crazy competition cycle stops until March so he will be able to recover and prepare for Worlds.

Good luck in FS!

welcome aubergine and dapurpledino :cheer: praying circle for clean program  wish there was a way to watch it online

Thank you for the welcome matmuh, and yes I will join your prayer circle  please let him land his 4S
Me too, but for now I will just have to refresh like crazy on the sportsnavi site

Can't he jump both beautiful 4S and 3Lz instead  I'm so worried, I think I'll just stay away from any commentaries or live coverage, and live in a stress-free bubble where I can pretend I don't care so much about a boy who will be scrutinized and judged by hordes of people during the 4+ minutes he is on the ice.

Echoing matmuh's welcome to aubergine and dapurpledino (coincidentally same royal hue and same loyalty to Yuzuru, the king of figure skating ;) ). And like many of the posters, wishing and praying for one more clean long program from Yuzuru this season. Go Yuzuru!

Okay so apparently this cellphone thing...that gossip magazine totally took things out of context! It came from a conversation during the press con when he said he had not report his win to his family and his coaches/teachers yet, citing fatigue and time constraint. Then the reporter caught up with him after the press con and asked him if he really has not said anything to them.(I don't know why they were so hung up on this...). He said:" I don't have a cellphone. So even if I want to I can't, right? I only have an ipod."

And the magazine then went on to write about how he wants a cellphone from that remark...

A bit long, but a special program for the Nationals.
Thank you for the uploader.

Does anyone know whether is this part of a series of commercial for Nationals? I saw another one a few days ago which includes other skaters as well.

I think that him serving some fedora realness is hilarious

Some crossdress photoshop work.

Backstage NHK , kind of singing Hana wa saku.

Here's a transcribed version of their podcast regarding yuzuru if anyone has not yet able to listen to it
Source: http://s.ameblo.jp/mkp2012/entry-11967970725.html
PJ :Tell me about Yuzuru Hanyu’s feet.

Kurt :I don’t understand Yuzu’s feet. Patrick Chan, from Canada, I can get Patrick, I get his power and I can understand... sometimes he gets power from moves that I am amazed at, but I can understand it, because I can SEE IT HAPPENING. And truly Christopher Dean, there are very few skaters I would compare to Patrick Chan, very few.
But Yuzuru Hanyu is in his own tiny little way, special as well, in that he gets power and speed, .. power... and you know what? I wouldn’t use “power”, he’s just fleet of foot. Scott Hamilton always skitters like a waterbug across the ice. But you could see it happening. I don’t know how Yuzu does it. He has this way of just gaining speed and momentum and power but he’s special. He’s just very special.

Someone said today “custom-built for jumping”. Some thing today in his programs, i was just.. it was kind of like I saw jumping for the first time again. And I got all fan-like on the air, and I got all crazy, because the take-off, the flow through the air, the rotation, and then the landing, are like an artist.

PJ :I love his landing edge, I just love his posture, I love the way that back outside edge flows,

Kurt :Not too sharp a corner, it’s on a big radius,( hello everyone in Japan) which is on a big circle, and he somehow can do all of that with low shoulders, long neck (he has a naturally long neck anyways) but low shoulders and no upper body stress whatsoever.
The right shoulder stops the rotation, essentially, when you jump the way he jumps, in that direction. The right shoulder is in charge of stopping things... But the right shoulder is just.. there. There’s no effort. It’s a level of jumping skill, that Baryshnikov, in ballet everyone went “When Barysh jumps, its JUST DIFFERENT”. And when Yuzu jumps IT”S JUST DIFFERENT.

Novice skater from Turkey with a very familiar costume

More Hanyu with a hat. They asked him what being an Adult Man means.
Hanyu said:
To take responsibility for one's own actions. To think properly about what one must do and take firm action. That is what I think an Adult Man should be.
He went on to say:
I think a lot about skating. I can make decisions and say 'I want to do it this way'. But as a person, in many areas, I am selfish. And in many areas passionate. In those ways, I feel I have not grown up yet.

But as a skater I will be selfish, I will be stubborn, I will always hate to lose. I don't want to change my true self.

(If other Japanese speakers have a better translation, and corrections to this, please do say so.)

This is how his sister looked like when little. He's a boy version of her.

Also, here's a collection, with costumes and/or similar programs:

Etude:
(1) (2)

R&J 1.0: (3) - plus R&J 2.0 ending pose

Notre Dame: (4)

PW: (5)

R&J 2.0: (6)

There's also this skater called Carlo Vittorio Palermo who is a certified fan of Yuzuru, and the color gradation of his short program top reminds me a bit of Chopin outfit but maybe it's just in my head. That's it, maybe I'm missing something.

Anyway, as if Yuzuru himself isn't very guilty of doing blatant costume copies

here is another translation from 311mi , interview of shae lynn about yuzuru's POTO

Oooh look! Hanyu has sent Sarah Alainn flowers!

Yuzu has been very nice to female artists that he used to work with. Here is the flower he sent to Mai Kuraki in September.

Yet another random ranking, laying in 3rd. Google translate says "Twink ranking" and I just […] It's probably wrong though.
The poll was aimed at 'onee' which is a euphemism for gay men. *literally meaning older sis.
"Hot men they don't want to get married" is the title of the poll. Hanyu is in 3rd place.
Note: Gay marriage is not officially recognized in Japan as far as I know. Therefore any marriage Hanyu would have would be assumed to be hetero.

It reminded me of the edit of him as geisha. What's this obsession with crossdressing him
absolutely no idea

as a follow-up to this and since we're already talking pretty pictures

and excuuuuuuse me while I.......

I don't pop in here often, but wanted to share this bit of CBC footage from the GPF while I was transferring video:

This commercial is BEAUTIFUL! Its fits Yuzu pretty well considering he likes to lip sync

Making of ^

The 30 second version has a 3 second scene not included in the minute long version http://youtu.be/_GLn5p189-Y?t=20s

And this is the 15 second TV version of the CM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GLn5p189-Y

I have no clue what he said, but I like his voice!

Short Q&A after the practice:

- About the practice:
I got the feeling of the ice to skate on the rink.

- Feelings at the moment:
I'm more relaxed than usual. I'm going to meet the skaters of my generation and those with whom I've competed in the past in regional tournaments. I'm doing things with delight.

- As the last competition of the year:
I have no intention at all to consider the competition as an end of the year. I just want to do my best in the up-coming competition.

- Tuning up after GPF:
After the GPF, I had only a week to prepare. Things are not perfect. I couldn't have enough time to revise. But I've done what I had to do. There is always a fluctuation in health management. I'm paying attention to its control and how to pull it off to the competition.

- About the three-peat:
I'm not concerned about that. Rather, I keep in mind that it has nothing to do with me. As I said during the GPF, it doesn't matter in a competition whether I am the former champion or not.

Hi, could someone help to translate this article. Does it say that he is not going to participate in 4CC? Thank you in advance
=>
That seems to be the case. A 'Skating insider' said that Hanyu would not go to 4CC.
Well, the teams will be made public in a few days and we will know for sure.

Practice footage from yesterday and this morning.
Also, an interview with foreign media from Spain...
They asked him if he could choose an animal to be, what would it be?
Answer: a Cat.
(just as I suspected)
"They are free, they live as they like. And I have that feeling too.
So, it's not so much I want to be them as I am probably like a cat."

LOL.

Yuzu:
"I made the same error as the last time (GPF), so I am not satisfied, but I skated not so bad. I want to do my best in the FP, clearing my problem(s) little by little."

He is skating no.21 in tomorrow's free. Mura is no.20 so looks like we will get the POTO back to back after all...

This cant be real

I saw an article about yuzu's self reflection on sp. my Japanese is not good so what I am concerned is, did he say that he did 4lz in practice, and that was also one of the reasons why he's having problems with 3lz?
Yes apparently it says he landed 4Lz in practice...

Comparison of his performance at GPF and Nationals, knowing his condition, I'd say he did very well: http://youtu.be/mXv6NKGj65g

Japan media, why. Such beautiful photos

Carrying plushies out of the rink.

The rise of the fedora. Cute and awkward smile afterwards.

Him and Mura watching the skaters backstage.

Sota Yamamoto seems to be wearing a colar like Yuzuru's, with those magnetic (?) little stones that he seems to love.
