Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Did they broke up/ have a fight again? I mean Yuzu and his Quad salchow
Thought they've made up at GPF, guess it's not the case yet :P

Anyway, congratz kid! A little pity that he won't go to 4CC but his health comes first of course. A healthy and happy Yuzu is all I wish for.

Maybe it is just me but Yuzuru looked so mature and even more sexy today
sorry for being so foolish but I can't

I don't think you are being foolish as there are other people who thought the same. See below.

Yuzuru looked very handsome and mature tonight. He also drew a heart to the audience during his bows.

There must be something in the air (or someone special present)...;)

Can't catch up with this thread but congratulations to Yuzuru. Too bad about the 4s but a beautiful 3lz!

Great to see you posting again mikaboo. What a night for our favorite skaters.
:)

I must admit the fall on 4S Hanyu and 4T Machida was so strong that we may think that it is a pleasure to fall literally ;)

Your comment reminds me of Kurt Browning marveling how today's male skaters can get up from a hard fall from a quad jump and continue seemingly unaffected with the rest of their program. Skaters are indeed a tough breed and as he has demonstrated this season, no one seems tougher than our boy Yuzuru. ;)

I love his two programs this year and haven't seen enough of them. But I also want to see more different programs of him too since he may not have many more programs in competition for us to see if he retires after 2018 OG.

Congrats yuzu! You really deserved your title tonight!
I feared you might collapse during the program, given so many worrying reports... However you fought till the end, I'm so impressed! Please take good care of yourself and go to wc in your full form, don't ever let your back injured again as terrible as this time...

I translated this in rush so my english must be much more disastrous than his 4S. But it's a very very impressive interview (after winning today) I wanted to share.

As a competition, this is how to end. [I don't understand what he meant at all. maybe related to intervewer's question not written]

(about the performance) It was a little regrettable. I got tired during spins. But I think it was good as I had the least mistakes while I was in a bad condition. It was hard in terms of stamina but I was telling myself 'Never give up and do my best until the end' no matter of winning or three-peat. I still have the fatigue from GPF, and I'm in a bad condition, so it was a bit hard. I think it was good that I kept on delivering my performance until the last second, especially the two 3A in the second half, although i had to slow down my speed.
I couldn't bring myself up from the official practice, and I was even talking (with BOrser) in K&C that I had already been tired in 6min practice. This competition was a good experience to think about how to jump 4S in such conditions.
When I was having warm-ups off ice, I thought 'I'm feeling quite good' but I didn't feel good in 6min practice already, so I thought I was tired.

(jumps) I paid my attention to what I could do at that moment. It's my bad habit that I paid my attention to forms, not forms to jump, but forms for forms. So I dared to jump at the timing which I felt comfortable.

(4T) I had confidence for 4T as I had nailed all 3 of them in competitions.

(tight schedule) Doing GPS, GPF and National is hard for all skaters. I've experienced this a lot. From Sochi, it has been a valuable experience.

(wininng) I'm happy to have a good result, and I have a feeling that a three-peat is a wonderful outcome, but I'm tired (laugh). My mind goes more to the fact that this long year is finally over.

(other skaters on podium) (Uno) I've competed with Uno in novice and junior times. We only have 3 years of difference, I feel more like he's one of my generation. I'm happy that one of those competing mate is coming up, and also I feel that I have to work harder as a senior skater.

(three-peat) It doesn't matter much. Third time or first time, a competition is a competition of that year.

(this year) It started with Olympics, I have experienced so many things. I had so many difficult times both mentally and physically, and it's not something everyone can experience. For example, the mind to compete after winning Olympic, or that accident in CoC, that disaster in NHK, they were rare experiences. This has been a year in which I experienced so many things which most skaters don't.

(learning things this year) What I learned this year is not a level of 'just these.' So many things happened, and I think it was my joy to be able to skate till the end.

(next year) Being Olympic champion or National champion, they are all glories in the past. No matter how recent they were, they are the glories in the past. I do feel that I'd like to maintain my pride, but I'm not skating in order to keep such thing. I really love skating, I skate and compete because I love to jump. That's the thing that I can't miss in my skating life.

(what did you see after climbing up a wall which you said was in front of you after NHK) A wall. There are only walls after walls. I think human being are like that, when there is a challenge, we want to solve it because we are all greedy. Maybe I'm more greedy than others but at the same time I have people supporting me to achieve it. I'm really a happy person.

(when do you feel happy?) During the accident in CoC, I didn't mean to cry before entering 6min practice but so many cheers are given from the audiences, and that made me happy. I still remember that feeling, I'm just doing my best to do what I love, and there are people who support me doing what I love from their heart. That's something only I could experience, and I'm very happy as someone doing a special sport like figure skating.

(are you happier than winning Sochi?) I can't compare them, I don't think it's necessary. I was happy to win Olympic, and I'm not sure if that did any good to the fans. Now I only feel the joy of being supported, and the joy of doing what I love.

I guess that beautiful 4S at GPF was just a wonderful aberration from his normal routine. He looked like he was in pain when he almost dropped out of the first spin during the donut position
Hope the rumors are true and he really isn't part of the 4CC team when they announce the teams. Some good quality r&r and calm training would probably make a world of difference for his programs now. I actually like the butt spin. Imo, it's a decent position when centered and done with a lot of speed

Thank you Perdita, he said it´s been a long skating year, and now I understand more why not many Olympic Champion go on after winning. Glad he manage to end it in a high.

This is a really pretty way to put it, hope that people that said that he is ungrateful get to read this part.

I hope he really don´t take part at 4CC and go to Canada to rest and train. Boy needs a break in mind an body.

I guess he listened what some people talked about here yesterday and replaced the Biellman with butt spin, just kidding  I'm not very fond of butt spin, but what works better for his health is preferable. At least we will get more wonderful newspaper covers with his beautiful buttspin plastered all over, God :drama::drama:

I personally don't want him to keep any program, he plans to retire at Pyeonchang and I hope to see as much programs as possible for him. As much as I love Chopin Ballade nº1, if he manages to make a clean one I will be happy, no need for any more season with it, bring on new programs  And him POTO is not my favourite (until now), so I don't want it to. But that's my preference.

Congratulations on your title Yuzuru!! But I want to congratulate the return of the 4S fall too, now it seems that everything is back to normal

I just look at these scores from the GPF and from the Nationals and I remember those horrible photos from CoC, blood and tears. It's amazing the way he recovered mentally after the accident. The best thing is to see him smiling again at every competition. Singing the music and smiling after falls...that's the kid we know
