Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I recall there is an interview where he was asked which parent he is like more. He said he is more like his Mom, in terms of personality and appearance as well. He said both him and his Mom are hot-blooded, quick decision-maker and once decide will go all in. He also mentioned even his hands and feet are like his Mom's.

Thank you! It always seemed obvious to me that he and his mother are very alike. They have many many things in common! May I ask you when this interview was taken?
You often tell interesting things about Yuzu that I've never heard before, I really appreciate that. ;)

So his father is the "calm one", man... to be a fly in the Hanyu´s house...:laugh2:

Probably a calm one compared to his mom, but still got the nickname of "demon" and "spartan" from his students.

You are welcome, AlexSaytor. But I can't recall when the interview is. I will let you know when I come across it again. But let see if anyone in the forum happens to read that as well. I think that is a quite well-known interview.

Any new news updates on Hanyu's recovery status and health? I heard he was out of the hospital can anyone confirm that?

2 weeks were completed yesterday, if he is out, he is doing ninja trainning in Sendai...

My friend lives in Sendai and to date, he has not been seen or photographed in town, but the friend had heard from others that Hanyu was in Sendai and was resting at home. True or not, I think training will be out for another few weeks, at least according to the original time schedule put out a couple of weeks ago. 2 wks in hospital and 1 month bed (home) rest.

I highly doubt that he will do no training in the next 1 month. Remember after CoC they said he need 2-3 weeks for all the injuries to heal, but after 10 days he already came back on the ice. I think he might rest for another week or two, then come back to training (light, maybe).

I am sure you're right. He won't wait the full month, but I am sure at least a couple of weeks. After all, he has until the 3rd week of March to get back up to speed. And I seem to remember a radio interview with Orser (CBC or Icenetwork? Not sure) where he said that he'd put his foot down on this and insist that Hanyu take more recovery this time around.

^Shingalas could you be more specific?:laugh2:

Not really, thank you is a nice and detailed observation, and I agree that is better to be patient and observe improvement over long period, but I don´t think the ausence of older skater is enhancing his SS and edges, because I think people has been paying more attention to his jumps and spins, but even before lots of people (commentors and specialist) pointed out that his SS and edges were special.

I was thinking earlier that maybe is that Yuzuru stroke is really "different", like is true that Patrick has deep edges and SS, but Yuzuru stroke is really light , like he is really floating, and maybe is not that one is better than the other, just that they are different.

I want to made clear that in no way I am have deep knowledge in FS, but is how I can compare what I see.

This is my first post here. I am new to figure skating. So what I say is probably wrong and only my opinion and observation.
IMO, Yuzu is exceptionally gifted in skating skills. Yuzu has this lightness and natural flow across the ice since he was a young kid. It’s like he has little friction. I don’t think other skaters have this quality. He has such an affinity to the ice. I agree that his stroking is really different. I find many skaters are following a certain mechanics when they skate, like they follow a textbook technique to bend their knees and move their bodies in certain ways in order to move across the ice. But yuzu’s stroking is more natural. To me, Yuzu was born to skate, but the other skaters learnt to skate.

Nice observation and welcome to the Fan fests and Golden Skate!
Post often. :cheer:

Wow, what high praise! I love your comment because we can tell how much you value Yuzu's skating as a whole, same with the rest of his fans. Post often!

Sometimes, I wonder if I am over-praising him. Over-praising is not good for the kid, you know.

Nah. I think you're fine. I think he's simply amazing as well! The flow of movement, the smoothness of jump landings, flexibility...the whole package! Truly has an AMAZING gift.
