Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

In chocolate related news (please someone translate)

Never have seen this video from Nice 2012 before, is only the screem, but the screaming and chearing was insane. Another one of the end of the program.

And is this video new?, I don´t remember it

Thought this was interesting

I'm having fun here so why not do a 4T.....and not to forget my usual fan service (I'm bored so re-watching his old videos)

French commentators are popular on Niconico video in Japan as "お茶の間フランス実況シリーズ", meaning French Commentators in Livingroom Series (very direct translation)
Usually volunteer translation is attached under the screen some time later.

Sometimes Nelson's voice could be heard in the live coverage of other country's video (Maybe their booths were close), and Viewers laughed and commented "Tone down, Nelson !"

Anyway, Japanese fans are enjoying their coverage very much.

Some Yuzu sketching I did while chatting with my sister about figure skating...
http://fav.me/d8f1vum

I am reading Yuzu’s Blue Flame Chapter 9 again (many thanks to千回百慕生who translated it into Chinese http://tieba.baidu.com/p/1527869353 she also put on Chinese subtitle for many of Yuzu’s videos). In this chapter Yuzu talked about many skates he competed at junior level.

Something interesting between him and Han Yan. Yuzu said (almost bragged) that he knew a lot about Han. It was the first year of their novice competition (when Yuzu won the Japanese Novice, so it was 2004?), and Han was the youngest skater (he is about one year younger than Yuzu). Yuzu felt great about his spinning, and Han was good as well. When they were in the open practice they already started competing - If Han did a biellmann, he would do it immediately. They did not talk but looked at each other and passed the messages like “I absolutely can do better!” At the end Han was placed 2nd and Yuzu 4th. Of course, he “regretted”, and he considered Han his first rival and the first one made him “regret”. So when it comes to Han, he had the especially strong feeling “I must not lose to him”. ( this is so Yuzu)

My memory flashed back to crash between them back in CoC. Yuzu kept asking about Han when he came out with bandage on his hand, and later Han went shake his hands before the competition. Also days ago Han wrote a message on his Weibo about the costumes they prefer since they were kids. Han joked that he has been in vests and shirts since he was little, while Yuzu always likes things frilling. They also had very silly pictures taken together.

Just feeling sweet about the boys. Yuzu is at a complete different level now, and I hope Han will improve and get closer. He is my favorite Chinese skater in the men’s single discipline.

I also read some translation of Team Brain (credit to http://www.weibo.com/YuzuruInfoStation#_rnd1422036365310)

Just would like to share a little detail here… LP at Sochi, Javi was the first to skate in the last group while Yuzu was the third in the same group. When Javi finished, Brian did not have time to wait for his score. He rushed to change his Spanish Jacket to Japanese and ran to find Yuzu. When he saw Yuzu at the other end of the hallway, he immediately slowed down, walked over to him instead of running. He tried to act very relax and calm to make Yuzu easy (Yuzu mentioned he only slept 4 hours after the SP, and he felt his body was very heavy during the next morning’s practice for LP).

Many of us may have seen the video where Brian gently wiped away tears from Yuzu’s face after he had a terrible SP at 2013 WC (he was placed 9th). Brian is a great coach who deeply cares about his skaters.

How cute! Look what Brian has on his table
It looks like a drawing and Japanese charm hanging on the upper corner of the frame.

Edit: Miki Ando just posted info about Yuzu being discharged from the hospital: http://instagram.com/p/yOXnTol_Fo/

More speed sketching... this time, his Chopin costume which looks great in motion. Also, Yuzu bows a lot, and very nicely too.

Good angle in the practice, anyone notice his edge on the flip? http://youtu.be/Zs3WYfOLUc4
I think it's better than last season but my eyes can be wrong.

These sketches is funny and awesome at the same time, I'm not really sure whether he could see with the Pooh head

An article published yesterday about the succes of Team Brian, the CC Bros. and Yuna. (JAPANESE)

If someone please translate the important points.

Same here and believe it or not, Recently I finally could make the time myself to watch Yuzuru’s FS at the COC! Such chicken-hearted

About Pooh thing, I feel that the Pooh would be now the kind of his lucky charm and the kind of healing item. iirc he didn’t carry his pooh tissue box during the competition at Olympic while Javier kept his Mickey at there.so I think it's kinda clear that he can skate well and even be a champ without relying on the thing
I still haven't watched it. I know it's gonna be painful :hopelessness:

:laugh2: When I read this, I imagined him as the peter piper who has a trail of woodland creatures following him....and it was strangely fitting

Thank you alia jackson for the collection

See, I took it one step further and imagined the Ents from Lord of the Rings invading the skating rinks :laugh2:

I actually think Yuzu’s childlike quality is what draws his fans. It sparks the parental instinct from the fans. It’s almost like they treat him as their own child. Yuzu is more childlike than boys his age, but he is also much more mature than boys his age. It’s rare to see someone like that. That’s why I find him so refreshing. That fact he carries Pooh around means he is still a child at heart. Eventually, he will grow up and he may not carry the Pooh around anymore. But I personally wish he stays childlike for a little longer.

LMAO at the conversation over Yuzuru's Pooh bear in the US Nationals thread. lol

To tell the truth what made me attract to him as a person in the first place is the Pooh bear for God's sake. At WC 2012 I saw him with Pooh bear and I thought: "This boy is interesting " and when he rocked in the FS that was the deal!

It's always good to have a mix of childlike and mature characteristics. Makes you more likable and you can relate to a broader age range.

Olys: Skaters were not allowed to bring "branded" items to the rink, so Pooh stayed in Yuzuru's hotel room. Javi's Mickey made an appearance - I guess no one asked him to put Mickey away.

This may sound funny. But I actually think Yulia has both a mix of childlike and mature characteristic too. Sometimes, I really think she is a girl version of Yuzu. I wonder if that's why she has so many fans.

Seriously?! -.- Come on! Pooh is awesome!

And Mickey has WAY more recognizable branding than Pooh!

Oh well.

He stated in an interview after he came back from Niece (2012) that he likes Pooh as his face is always the same, it doesn't change expression. No matter how he performs, the smiling, non-judgemental face of Pooh is waiting for him. I guess he feels that Pooh is always on his side no matter what.

You know, I really think he is a child when he said that.

Probably no one is going to ask him this question anymore since we are so used to seeing Pooh with him, but I would love to hear his answer now. I am always pleasantly surprised by his answers to any questions, skating related or not.

Sharing this from another thread

I am deeply disturbed and very disappointed with some people's prejudice against the Pooh. I expect better things from the GS. Winnie is the best thing happened to this sport since the invention of Elvis Stojko's karate hands!

Frankly these days, I only watch Hanyu just to to catch the sight of the Pooh at rink side. Oh~! The incredibly warm and fuzzy feeling of comfort and joy, along with forgive and forgetfulness makes Hanyu the most transcendental skater around. Pooh is the perfect foil to the sour faced rosey cheeked Orser after a bad skate. The perfect defender after another round of outrageous phantasy component scoring, one just have to awww @ Pooh's ever so reliable smile and cute podgy behind; 98% naysayer's hostility and vengefulness automatically melt away... into a warm puddle of BBQed marshmellows on a quiet chilly night. Pooh is the best chaperon to all the latest Hanyu costume 'spectacle', with his impressive Pooh style classicly cut red shirt of impeccable length and immaculate fitting. Johnny Weir can only dream to have such good taste or style as the Pooh! Having a famous BBF (bestest bear friend) like Pooh only raises Hanyu's international profiles enormously (as well as this sport). His most loyal defender, bouncer, fluffer, wingman, consummate protector, all rolled in one. Comrade in arms, defender of the quad salcow, a new fav animal friend to the Winniverse.

The naysayers just have to face the fact Pooh is here to stay. A Pooh bear is a friend for life!! The Pooh will likely to out last all your GS accounts! It will outlast Hanyu's coaching relationships! It is likely to outlast Hanyu's romantic adventures/troubles and even bromance with Javi and Nam. It may even outlast his incredible costume phases! Pooh will be right there @ Hanyu's first driving test, at his graduation, at each of his birthdays, at Hanyu's wedding, be there at his children Christening, @ his bed side in the hostpitals when he is sick, and certainly will be there when he receive his 2nd Olympic medal. Hell and high water, Snow Storm and Tsunami lightening be d*mned, you can count on the Pooh!

Equality for Pooh!!
Defender of Winnie!!!
Winnie for president of ISU!!!
