Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I want him to do a fun and energic EX next season....he needs a place to just let loose. He's been doing a lot of "serious" programs/EX and with the added stress as of late, I think it would be good for him (and us )

I'm hoping for at least an upbeat EX, but if he wants to liven it up in the SP, I wouldn't be one bit disappointed.

My favourite is the one for Hana ni nare , am I the only one who really likes this costume?

Same! I love the design, colours, etc. it looks beautiful!

Thanks for the Hana Wa Saku's link Esopian, wow you went back to find it on page #855...bravo

Oh no, I just did a simple search in the forum through the 'search' function. :)

I agree, I hope he can take a break from the serious EX programs and go with something light-hearted or energetic (like something rockstar-ish). That would be really nice and ideal. :agree: I especially loved the energy in both Yuzu's 'Change' programs and 'Hello I love you'.

What rock/upbeat song would you guys recommend/prefer him to skate to next?

In the CBC commentary of Yuzuru's FS in his first senior competition at 2010 NHK: https://vimeo.com/88866728. Kurt said Yuzuru has a great baseball pitch and that he had played catch with Yuzuru for an hour and a half.

And going back memory lane to Yuzuru's first Grand Prix title in the 2011 CoR, here's a video showing the appreciation of Julia, Adelina, Mao, etc. of Yuzuru's 3A-3A done in the exhibition gala.

Thanks to all those who posted links and updates. :)

Wow! Didn't know that cbc commented on yuzuru's first nhk event!

OK, next question, in which competition was yuzuru described as being "pencil -thin but packed with power "? (this might be too easy? )

Said by the B.ESP commentators during his 2011 COC SP (Etude)

I like this game  Which is Yuzuru's favorite baseball team? :p

What happened back then? It sounds like something terrible?

I'm referring to a legally minor kid ( 17 yo) who was a stripper in his Ex, who removed his shirt completely and was dressed like a girl in the ICE 2012...

Then Yuzuru eliminated "Hello I love you" as his competion EX , replaced it with "Hana ni Nare" and stopped partecipating in The Ice after 2012 edition..

Oh.... that was really terrible if it was against his will..... and I guess if he continues doing this his image would be damaged....?

I always thought he changed his EX to Hana Ni Nare because when he first performed it, it was in his home town Sendai, so he wanted to share his thoughts from the 2011 disaster. IDK why he was dressed like a girl or took off his shirt during the dance battle at The ICE, but he seemed to be having fun. Calling him a stripper during Hello, I Love You is kinda much...:slink:

Don't mind her... sometimes she seems to think that Yuzuru was sent to a concentration camp when he moved to Toronto, where they torture him by making he dress as a woman or skating to "sexy" choreography :sarcasm: (even though he had already some "sexy" moves in his vertigo ex, but since that was a Nanami work it's perfect).

For what is worth also Daisuke, Nobunari and Takahiko have already dressed up as women for some ice show and Tomas Gerber skated an exhibition program as a young ladie for an entire season, but none of then seem to have traumas or psychological scars related to this events :sarcasm:

 anyways can anyone help me with the clip from which this was extracted: http://instagram.com/p/zJ-AS_jss8/
It was Star on ice 2012 looking at the backstage. Maybe there's video of his performance?

Skated as a woman? WHere? Send me a link. I don't think I've seen it. I want to see it.....for scientific purposes.

what happened? Was there public backlash? Did the organizers not like it?

Because personally I see nothing wrong with either, sounds like something a teenager would do. It'd be shame if the experience put him off rock programs for good.

I think Yuzuru stopped doing The Ice after he signed the JOC deal and with ANA probably there was sponsors conflict at the time.

There was no public back lash or anything and Hanyu actually performed Hello I Love You other times after skate america (ie stars on ice japan in january 2013)... probably as it happened other times he had thought to use Hana ni Nare for competition in Japan and Hello I Love You abroad, but he couldn't skate both at the 2012-2013 gpf nor at the 2013 wc galas, because both time he was sick and/or injured.
Anyway it's true that Hana ni Nare hold a special place in Yuzuru's heart, in fact he has performed it many time even after he had already choreographed other EXs
Regarding the Ice many fans have often hypothesized that from 2013 Yuzu popularity was big enough that the organizers didn't invite him anymore because he could steal some of the spotlight from Mao (the Ice differently from other ice shows is essentially Mao centric, a bit like All that skate is entirely constructed around Yuna), exactly how they never invited Miki or Daisuke if not as special guest for a single stop...

Yuzuru Hanyu being awesome at the Ice 2012
features slow motion for all your scientific needs

Seeing it and thinking is that all giulia95 is upset about?

I mean in one he's playing a heartbreaker and not a stripper for god sake.

As for the skirt. It's been used for a long time as a source of humour of guys playing a girl's part by donning a skirt or whatever.
I think most men would be more embarrassed of wearing the frilly shirts that are seen on ice than some skirt. :rolleye:

This thread is awfully odd lately. I'd rather patiently wait for the Worlds than engage in conspiracy theories and negativity. We can't do much in front of our screens anyway. If anything else, worrying much would just bring stress levels to its peak. I opt to chill.

Oh, for those in Japan. There is a 30人の日本人 right now on TV. Arakawa was just featured. I saw Yuzu among the pictures. I hope I didn't tune in late.

EdiT: he is shown now at number 22

It all looks like it's good fun. No one is taking it seriously. I like how Yuzu gets into things. He's 100% into the spirit of it. -Plays along, pretending to be mad...he only did it this once. Now he's much more sophisticated.

No harm done. Fun was had by all.
