Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I'm not looking foward to another CM from them... I was so embarassed for Yuzuru with that stupid white/gold costume and that, well, stupid CM in general.
I can only hope that the new one isn't as awful...

I totally agree. That commercial looked like it was making fun of Yuzu and/or putting him in a not too favorable light. Of course I couldn't understand a word of it.

I like the CM's that show him as a serious athlete, but everything else I can do without. :slink:

Any news that comes before we actually see him at worlds will probably be ambiguous and confusing, so I don't mind there not being any news for now.
And I'm prepared for ANYTHING at Worlds. He could be 10th, he could win. I'm just hoping he will be safe. -And I'll root for him no matter what.
It seems like such a big thing right now, to us and probably also to him...but it is just one season. There will be other seasons.
(OMG how will I survive the drama??):drama:

I seriously hope his next seasons won't be as dramatic as this one!!! No please!!!! :drama: Just be healthy and safety and Happy, yuzuru! I won't mind what ranking he'll get.at this world's, he'll still be our yuzu despite setbacks or bad ranking due to injuries!

I was really shocked when I saw that CM. I think that might be Yuzuru’s worst costume. If the intention of the CM is to make people remember the CM, I think it had indeed achieved the effect.

I believe he will skate his best given his current condition. (It’s just we don’t know his current condition. We need to be more patient.)

I have a question. Any one knows about when will all the athletes begin to arrive in Shanghai? So that we'll know the earliest time point we will have some news about him.

A bit off topic, but as another cure.

This program is featuring Shun Sato, Yuzuru's kohai in Sendai. He won first place in Novice B category for 2 consecutive years.
He is treasuring a charm and memo given by Yuzuru.
He also had to find his training rink at the time of earthquake, and he even changed his school for 5 months for that purpose till the Ice Rink Sendai was reopened.

He already lands 2A+3T, and Novice A boys say, "Youth of today are unbelievable!!"

Kids these days are attempting difficult jumps at such a young age, and the media likes to compare the promising kids to Yuzuru. I think Yuzuru’s flexibility and spins stood out a lot more when he was young. It seems that this boy has good jumping abilities, but he is not very flexible. (Actually most boys are not very flexible.) It’s actually not easy to find a boy like Yuzuru who has both great jumping ability and flexibility. It also seems that having a long and slender body helps with jumping in figure skating. Sota and Jin Boyang have a similar build as Yuzuru, long and slender, and they are good jumpers too.

according to the schedule, offical practices will start on Monday, so they probably will be arriving on Sunday or earlier so that they can rest a little, thank you everyone for the updates, that poster is amazing and i love that picture!!! ahh suzy i am so jealous of you that you got to see it

I just noticed something. The news says the giant poster equals 16 yuzu. If that is accurate, Yuzu's height is 28.4/16=177.5 cm. or if they rounded the length of the poster to 28m, then yuzu is 28/16=175cm.

ohh thats a good point and bring some insight to the height argument

But at least, he seems to really stay away from media considering the lack of news. That's not something negative, more like some fresh air for him.
I think there is nothing really to report. Even now it's 50/50 if he's recovered well enough to be a top contender. And really that is what he wants- to be one of those who can win. I try not to worry to much because it can't help him (and me;)). The main thing is for him to be phisically strong enough to handle this competition. Hope everything goes well.

The last comment: "Hanyu-senshu whose injured right ankle is getting better is anticipated to defend his title in the worlds, as the first Japanese figure skater to do so."

Nice observation!! He's really tall if he's really 177.5cm!

I think the news still use the old data 171cm because Yuzu is not occupying the whole poster from the very top to the very bottom, right? Say the poster is 28.4m, the size of Yuzu in it is probably 27.4m.

I apologize if it has already been posted : Mao’s legendary FS in Sochi and her teammates Dai and Yuzu cheering for her. It still brings tears to my eyes, she’s is such a national treasure and a true role model

Mao visiting the affected area after 4 years and a skating lesson with kids :)
It seems to me Mao’s lesson is at Sendai’s ice rink, isn’t it?
