@padme21: Same I got two exams this week and it doesn't help if i'm fidgeting over every news about Yuzuru. Also, i just don't wanna deal with the haters if anything happens out there on the ice with Yuzuru :scowl: I've seen enough unnecessary hate towards Yuzuru and for sure if I see it again, I'll throw a fit. Despite saying all of this, I know I'll be dropping in now and then and checking up on the updates. I just can't help it

Thank you! Look forward to being part of the thread :yay: I would have been disappointed if there wasn't at least a little drama on the yuzu thread.... he deserves it! And it's kinda stressful being his fan sometimes

As for Yuzu's physique and weight atm - personally i think it's mainly muscle gain and that it's due to extra pilates type exercises done throughout his recovery - being off ice with the ankle sprain the opportunities for high intensity, and frequent sessions of cardio (like the ones he was doing before) would be slim and/or very different to what he was doing before. Therefore to stay in shape you've got to do the other things, focusing on strength and conditioning as well as the mental side, so that when you get back into training and on the ice there's not much more than an adjustment period to work through.

I think he looks good; healthy and more fully grown, almost as if his body had time to go "guess what!? I'm a MAN now".

See his shoulder, chest, and abs! He used to wear the same training suit but never this big.

It's the mascot of Ice Rink Sendai so he's probably gonna wear those gloves for the rest of his skating career and even beyond that

I'm just so happy that he seems OK mentally,now we can just hope for the best and wish him good luck.No mather what is the outcome of this competition I think he will be pleased with how he fought to be here

It feels really good to see a smile on his face again. He started his rollercoster of a season in that rink that now he'll end it there too....hopefully with no regrets and with a smile regardless of results.

What does Yuzuru wear the mask for? I think it is the same type as when you are sick at the doctors when you cough and they make you wear it...Is it to prevent him from getting sick? He is one of the only skaters that wears this all the time.

I read somewhere (probably here, lol) that it's part of overcoming his breath control problems? Like, wearing it forces his lungs to get used to greater effort, so he'd be more ready for demanding programs breathing-wise. Or something like that.

I'm not sure either, I don't remember where I read it so I don't know if it was just fan speculation or a fact. Perhaps he just does take every precaution against getting sick. It could have to do with his asthma because asthmatic people are recommended to wear a mask when exercising in cold environment, but then it'd be defeating the purpose which is competing in cold environment...

I heard the same. But, in the first place, Japanese wear masks for various reasons.

I wear a mask while commuting because Japanese trains are so crowded in rush hours. I don't like everyone around me coughing without a mask.

I think Yuzuru is wearing a mask in order to take every caution. I read somewhere that he could not wear a mask in Toronto because it looked weird there. I don't think this is the direct cause, but he had flu just before the Worlds 2013. Lots of Japanese including me thought he should have worn a mask, but he might be going around without it hwell:

now that you've shown these pictures sbs, yuzu is really thin during the nationals

I have a feeling that the bigness won't remain though (with his training and ice shows off-season and competitions next seasons )
