Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

He's the original skater who Yuzuru wanted to overcome/beat in the 2013-2014 season and next season we can see this healthy rivalry rekindle! Well of course! Patrick is a skater Yuzuru respects and knows he's an amazing skater. There were 1st and 2nd the whole Olympic season so I think both of them will work even harder (if that's even possible) to have the best performances next season. And with Javi and Denis stepping up, it will all become even more exciting (though of course I'm still rooting for Yuzuru :biggrin:)!
 
In the interview Yuzu said becoz he was training for 3 quad after the surgery resulted in the sprain ankle :bang: Please I hope he trains properly and carefully for WTT :drama:

And there is one more thing to add: sport is meant to promote young talents and when these young become more or less stable in repeating successful skates- they will be promoted and get bigger and bigger TES. And unfortunately those TES do not always come with actual quality TES. Human factor. Who would watch the competition without an intrigue to it? So there should be at least 2 strong competitors going to claim the gold. Good if there are two well-known for at least a cycle competing and if not? Let's start the Figure Skating Got Talent.;) Not every skater that gets the bump for his or her TES will actually prove him or herself as a solid bid. But if they do... miracles do happen. And sometimes when number 2 comes forth and delivers the clean skate- there is always a way to leave that nr. 2 on nr. 2 (sudden edge call, not fully rotated jump, etc.) Again- this system allows the same 6.0 did. But it demands diversity and at least in that it is good.

About this competitiveness and about 'creating' contenders by the scores, I think this is evident at the rivalry created in men. During 2011-2013 Patrick dominated and judges absolutely went nuts with his PCS, GOEs and levels as he was clearly one of the best of the field until the gap between Patrick and the rest was dangerously too high. (Of course there was Daisuke but somehow by the time of 2013 there's wasn't a momentum because of his injuries) Once skaters like Yuzuru, Javier and Denis started to step up leading to Sochi, the judges began to increase their PCS and TES GOEs and levels (not disminshing their obvious development, specially Yuzuru's and how he increased his TES score potential, it's just that it came with an appreciation from the judges, making them competitive with Patrick) So by the time of GPF 2013 Yuzuru had scores to rival Patrick Chan's, even if a lot of people couldn't agree with Yuzuru's enourmous suddenly PCS jump during 2013-2014 season. Since now it extends to Javier and Denis as well, it's becoming a bit more stable. At first I though it wouldn't by the way they marked Yuzuru's FS at the latest GPF but the fact that judges allowed Javier to beat Yuzuru at Worlds 2015 and avoided a scandal contributes to the perception that the gap point-wise between the men isn't so high as it once were when there was only Patrick receiving monster scores. It's creating a rivalry between all the top men, and I for sure will be excited by the time Patrick comeback :popcorn:

But what I really like about Yuzu-Javi-Denis-Patrick rivalry is that it actually contributed to their progress: Patrick started to do quads, Denis became more stable and his skating, spins and artistry progressed a lot (thank you Mr. Lambiel who turned 30 today!:love:) Javi and Yuzu worked really hard on their TES and look the way they skate today- graciously and fast as a wind. I mean... They all serve as an exciting sport show which I am really grateful for. :love:

Yes, yes :biggrin::yes: There's no flawless skater, what I like the most is how their complete each other. Yuzuru's speed, commitment, fighting spirit is unmatched but he doesn't have yet the same refinement in line, extension and posture as Denis/Patrick have and not the skating skills of Patrick. But I wish Denis/Patrick had some of the freedom and competitive fire that Yuzuru naturally has, that extra oohmf. Javier doesn't have the skating skills and quality at steps, spins as the others, but has the biggest amount of quads plus quadsal. It's a win win situation :love:

The article is dated April 2, so I think they'd be late for April Fool. It may be real, though I wonder how the hell are they gonna manage that. :think: Yuzu will have to be invited at the Japanese premiere, at least. :laugh2:

I totally agree with you. I watched him the first time at worlds 2012 and because he amazed me, I watched every competition that I could find and I saw how talented is and was since he was 14 years . The british Eurosport commentators said about him" If I would pick someone for the future my money would be on Hanyu...I haven't seen so much in a boy at his age...It's fenomenally good at 14....He has lightness" and soon after that became fans of Yuzuru.

A year after this comment he became the winner of the World Junior and have 11 point between the silver medalist Song Nan. He was 15 years and said the key of winning was succeeding the 3A twice in SP and FP.

There are some videos with their very nice comments on competitions were Yuzuru won. And I think it's very important the fact in 4 years of his senior competitions , 2011-2015 he win 21 medals (most of these are gold ...some silver and only at Worlds 2012 bronze) and was on 4th place only four times. In the first year of his senior , he was silver medalist on 4CC and he was only 16 years of age. And the jumps are spectacular, and seems effortless. I think it's the only skater that has a natural talent, I saw him jumping 3A with no speed at all. He stay on the rink, and jump. It was amazing.
If you want to see his talent, rewatch all his competitions and you will be speachless.

Actually on Worlds Gala finale, when he was going for 4T to "Nessun Dorma" I realized wouldn't it be interesting if he would have LP next season to this :biggrin: ? Or something similiar, more classical

If he did, that will also be like a tribute to his Sendai senpai Shizuka. :)

I for one would like to see him skate a competitive program highlighting his Japanese heritage and special strengths. I love Takahito's "Samurai" LP choreographed by Nanami, which program worked with Takahito's "burly manly" style.

Oh no, please, not "Nessun Dorma", I've heard it too much from too many people those last years. :hopelessness: I wouldn't mind another classical piece, as long as it's NOT that song.

I like the choreography done by Yuzu's Japanese EX choreographer. I think they are mostly choreographed by the same guy, right? I forgot this name.

It can be any other. I want to see him skating something more classical, more in Chopin style. It showed he is now well refined to pull classical program. I like his POTO program, but he deserves really amazing LP like his Chopin SP. So I keeping fingers they will take Buttle for choreo of both programs
