Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I don't get JSF's logic to wanting to put Yuzu at NHK, its quite obvious Japan (maybe China) is going to be the most packed audience regardless of whether Yuzu is there or not. Japan has always had a huge and respectful audience for figure skating. I don't think they are going to need Yuzu to fill seats necessarily, IMO.

If Mao comes back to NHK, maybe? And maybe if Javi chooses NHK, maybe it will not be like half empty. Obviously without Yuzuru, the arena is still kinda full (or 3/4).

But you know Daisuke did NHK like 7-8 years in a row... It's not like Yuzuru will choose otherwise unless Javi choose NHK so Miki can be there and cheer for him.

That reminds me of Joubert, who has done TEB in each season since 2002 (or at least when he didn't have to WD for medical reason). Then again, he was the biggest active figure skater in France, no one else had his popularity. But then again, aside of him, we didn't have many good skaters, unlike Japan that had quite a group. Nowadays, Yuzuru is the most popular one, of course, but there are other skaters that are gaining popularity who can also bring people to fill arenas.
So, he doesn't necessarily need to be in NHK, we'll see how it goes. Maybe it's Shoma who will go? That would be a good idea for a senior debut, I think. And if Mao decides to come back and goes to NHK, it would be enough. I'd not be surprised if Satoko goes to NHK too. She's a rising star.

I really want Yuzuru to do TEB so that I'll have a chance to see him live for the first time, hehe.

I honestly doubt that Javier would want to skip SC just to avoid Chan, that would be ridiculous. Sure, Patrick is coming back, but so what? That would give him a challenge, if Patrick is back in shape. But then again, he may not be chosen to go to SC at all, but on other GP. Same for Yuzuru.

That`s hilarious. Yes, I remember CoC arenas were mostly empty all the time excluding pairs events.
But may be they don`t bother come and watch 6 good skates that usually happens during GP events, when they can see at WCh far more good skaters.

Lol I wonder if there will be a significant difference in attendance in case Yuzuru goes to a north American GP? I see that a lot of japanese fans travelled to China since it was close but it seems that a big part of the audience was actually really chinese, Yuzuru seems to have a good amount of fans in China. And we didn't see THAT much poohs at NHK, I guess chinese fans love to throw them. I wonder if we will see another apoohcalypse at SA or SC next if he chooses one of them

I wish he would go to TEB this year so I would finally get to see him in flesh and bones, and because he would definitely attract more people to the ice rink. This year TEB was so sad in terms of atmosphere... When I was there you would see no more than 2 or 3 plushes on the ice for the most famous skaters and the audience only cheered for real when the French were on ice (and that still wasn't a lot of cheers ^^). I was sitting next to the kids who are supposed to sweep the gifts off the ice at the end and they looked so bored... I'm sure they would love to play in a giant sea of Poohs

I was actually glad it happened in Bordeaux this year because it was easier for me to get there than Paris. And as someone who lives at the complete opposite side of France than Paris I wish not everything would take place there. The French I think came mostly as the 'official fan club' group cheering for Papadakis and Cizeron and then Florent (but Florent completely bombed and then it kind of killed it for the French).

Machida was very accessible and even came at the end towards the fan to shake hands and accept flowers and letters from the fans. I thought this was very kind and gracious of him. He was the only one who did that. I'm not sure Yuzu would have the possibility to do that though: there were like 30 people waiting for Machida, but I imagine there would be like thousands for Yuzu ^^

I have to admit I'm not sure why Bordeaux has been chosen instead of other towns, tho. Well, maybe it was easier to organize there, I don't know. But the elevator thing to access the K&C was quite original, there were quite a lot of skaters who took selfies in it, I thought it was fun!
Well, Florent had had 2 bad seasons in a row, I can guess it's irritating. Only at the WC did he finally start to get himself back together. I prefer seeing him doing better at the end than at the beginning, tho. Hopefully he'll gain more confidence, even if I'm not a fan of him. Joubert was the only French skater I liked, until Gabriella and Guillaume arrived, stronger than ever thanks to their move to Canada and the change it brought.

But back to Yuzuru (lol I was very out of subject here, sorry ), considering his popularity it would be very hard for him to do that, even if he always remembers to thanks his fans for the support. Except if a fan meeting is organized via his team, that has happened with other skaters before. Not sure if it would be possible for him, tho. Still seem rather hard to me.:think:

I remembered this TEB 2013 where the lady commentator said "oh the girls love him don't they?". And Yuzu said "no more, no more" at the amount of gifts .....and the botching of his name to Hanyu Yazura

TEB is scheduled on the ISU calendar for 13-15 Nov 2015. I believe the renovations at Paris Bercy will be complete by then, but if you search online ticket vendors, you will find that U2 are playing concerts at Bercy on 14-15 Nov 2015 (and tickets are already being sold). There are more concerts scheduled on following weekends too.

This doesn't definitely mean TEB won't be at Paris Bercy, but it would mean cancelling U2 and refunding tickets... or swapping dates with an earlier Grand Prix, like China. I think it's more likely they will hold TEB somewhere else instead. Maybe Bordeaux again, maybe Nice like the 2012 World's (yes... THAT World's!), or maybe somewhere else in France.

Bordeaux would suit me though. It's easy (for me) to get to, it's a very beautiful place, and food is excellent...

I didn't know about this...I was planning to go to TEB next season but only if it's going to be held in Paris Now it seems unlikely

Aww crap! I forgot about U2. No way it will be cancelled, for sure. And I doubt they'll change the dates for TEB.

Well, I guess I'll travel for it... well, depending on who will come. If Yuzuru, I'll go for sure. If not, I'll go if there's at least P/C or Javier, or Nam or Kanako or Shoma... pfff, I don't know. I'd like to know where it is first. I'd love for it to be in Lyon. There's been European championship there before, after all. But if it's in Bordeaux again, I'll go still. Still depend on which skaters will be there.
I wonder when the place for it will be announced.

If they did hold it somewhere else in Paris, I'm guessing it would have to be somewhere fairly "off the shelf" (rather than building a whole rink + seating from scratch, like they did for the GP Final in Barcelona)
