Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I don`t see it as embarassment.
It`s just people will understand Yuzu better.
However, it`s your choice.
Thank you for posting here, so we get his words right.

You are welcome. :)
If any other Japanese speakers can add anything to the translation or double check it, then please do.
I'll post it in the comments section of Youtube after that.

Great Newbiespectator, thank you . You are so right regarding the translation. I just saw someone commented "sloppy translation smh" under the Youtube video :laugh2:.

Ahem....Mr Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan

Yuzu looks cool in this pose that he's making my heart race so madly! :drama: Such a beautiful guy with a lion/tiger-like ambition and fierceness when he's in competition mode~ but when off-ice and in normal mode, he's so gentle and warm... Such contrasting characteristics in a single person! and i guess that's what intrigues me the most about him (besides his skating performances)

Hope that he'll enjoy his time in WTT, and perhaps skate chopin and poto cleanly! Looking foward to seeing what they would do in the k&c! (considering his creativity, perhaps we're in for a real treat )

Does anyone here follow TSL? I did before, then I stopped because I don't have time to watch many videos but during Worlds I did and I'm confused why they were so pro Yuzuru. They kept retweeting his photos even before the championship, then were favorable at the recap, it didn't seem forced when they talked about him but they kept posting stuff about him a lot, pooh etc. It was strange.

Then they also said something about "waiting to see Julia Lipnitskaya's gorgeous spins again" and I don't remember them being so pro Julia before. I mean (??) Are they changing their appeal tactics?

I never really followed them but from what I saw they were indeed pretty "meh" about Yuzuru. They usually don't even mention him and when they do its for like 10 seconds and nothing positive :sarcasm: The sudden flip flop is strange indeed lol

I used to follow them at first, but then I stopped because I found them annoying, disrespectful (not just to Yuzuru but also to a lot of other skaters) and immature. Sorry if there's people who like them, but I really don't.
They're not reliable to me.

I don't know what's up with those guys. Before the video about Worlds 2015, they didn't really think of him as anything spectacular (except perhaps for his FS at Worlds 2013). But they were so pro-Yuzuru in this video, talking about how overwhelming his talent was during his performance, that it's thier favorite competitor and what-not, predicting another World Title for him...even w/ Poohs! I found it weird but idk, could be a change to appeal a much larger audience or it could be that they honestly have come to like him a lot. I'm a bit more inclined to think that it could be because of their guest, the former skater/tech controller whose name just I just forgot. Since the beginning, he kind of gave me the impression that he considered Yuzuru as the best of the top 3. He said he considered him the most rounded skater (though later he said Denis was also that way), he made several remarks about the emotional commitement he has with this programs (the best in the field, he said). When he talked about the initial steps in his SP he said that that was figure skating and such. I mean, he gave some nice compliments to Javi amd Denis as well, but I kind of felt that he considered Yuzuru the best of them. And well, it doesn't look good if the host goes directly against the guest's opinion, so maybe they decided not to talk about Yuzuru in the same 'meh' way they always do because of that, idk

I stopped listening to TSL because they were so bias against other skaters especially Hanyu. But from what I hear it seems like they did a complete 180😐

I disagree. I think they give valid criticisms of everyone. And the criticisms they give of Yuzu I've heard from other pundits/commentators as well so I don't think they're overly biased against any skaters...

I agree with you, I don't think they have anything personal against him, they are a bit hard with everyone (except for the skaters they 'adopt'), even the American skaters. I suppose it's weird for some not seeing them being over the moon for him like some commentators are. And for me, them kind of fanboying/fangirling for him at the Worlds video is exactly what I found odd. The only time they've said something I considered annoying was when they called him a wet noodle, there are millions of different ways to point out something to improve without using those terms.

Is it possible that it's because he lost the title why they just began to say nice things about him?

Or they knew that their viewership will increase as Yuzu is popular or came to appreciate him after talking to many experts on their show . Strange that they even follow me on Twitter just around Worlds. I mainly retweeted/posted lots of Yuzu photos/videos/news.

They are just figure skating fans isn't it?

Kirk competed for the US in singles up until 2005 and made the world team twice.
