Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Also, how Yuzuru's manner changed from GPF to here at WTT. after 2 amazing free skates.;)
I think this is an interesting point... At the GPF, I saw a lot of people online call him arrogant for fist pumping and jumping on the podium, some even saying "he has no sense of dignity as a champion"... But to me, that was pure joy. He both skated and celebrated with a joy of just being able to: nobody else but he himself knows how hard it was to recover both physically from the collision, and mentally from the criticisms of being reckless to the point of stupidity, setting a bad example, being overmarked, whatever. That he was able to prove himself at the GPF, not only to all spectators, but to himself... I can understand his euphoria.

This WTT was indeed the closing of a chapter, a season of mountains and valleys that felt 3 years long. He didn't celebrate with the heady exhilaration of youth, he's matured from his disappointments and regrets. It wasn't a fairytale ending, but it was closure. I still don't think that POTO is as compelling a vehicle as his short programs, and I know that his artistic boundaries and performance quality still need to be stretched further, but with this long program performance, I'm especially reminded of why I uber him: he always skates with heart.

@sakuradrops007 Welcome!!

Am I the only who has not found a single article that's got Yuzuru's FS SB right? Everybody's saying he just passed Denis' score at WTT, why aren't people considering the GPF?

I thought so too! until I found out they actually talking about total score if Yuzuru's WTT FS and SB is being total~ it beats Denis's total score...

:agree: This sums up all my feels about yuzu's performances. I'm tired of people saying he's not artistic, this and that. I'm not a fan because he's artistic, I'm a fan because when he performs that's just what he really is, pure raw emotions and not trying to be someone that he is not. He really has this commanding presence that is just hypnotizing. He does not conform to the socially acceptable standards of artistry but just do it the "Hanyu way" and that's what I love about him. Maybe he's really just from another planet :slink:

I think Yuzuru's WTT overall score is still a little lower than Denis' total score. Denis Ten had 289.46.

I remember seeing in the prediction threat Yuzuru's score was 288 something. So I guess the articles are wrong in fact, weird :confused2: too bad because it's also his PB and second highest FS in history, although the one I will watch again and again will probably be WTT :biggrin:

@sakuradrops007 Welcome!!

I feel so sad every time I see someone saying bad things about him!
I know he isn't perfect (and doesn't have to be.) But I don't think he is arrogant at all! He's always so humble and thankful to everyone supporting him.
For a lot of people he is just a pretty face (and body), but for some other, he represents a light of hope! He is always concerned to send a positive message to the people from his hometown who are suffering.

Anyone watching pairs live? I think it starts in 15 min but ISU doesn't start showing until an hour later?? I want to watch goofy Yuzu in K&C!!

Yeah ISU livestream says livestream starts in 45 mins :jaw: let's wait and see but I will be devastated when they don't show it on time :mad:

According to reports, Hanyu-san skated to PW in the morning practice today...speculation is that it will be used as a gala number...thoughts?? ;)

booo! no chance to see cheerleader yuzu for the pairs event. Livestream always go haywire at the wrong time.

Honestly I'm wishing for Change or PW for the gala. The Time Traveler one is ethereal and beautiful but I think it would be nice to close this season with something upbeat and fun.
