Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

i didnt read anything about any incident but it doesnt sound like yuzuru at all he is not some diva, just look at how happy he was yesterday like a child, i imagine there must be a lot of ppl around him including reporters and guards? but not letting anyone in?? if he didnt want to be with anyone they could simply arrange a personal car for him, no need to bother with bus, music incident was really a shame, they should have given him more time to him to be ready but i dont think that was intentional  and "trying to mess with their rivals" ?? i have no idea how someone like yuzuru is capable of sth like that
we all know how focused yuzuru is before competitions but you cant blame him for that,

Eh Russian is not my first language but it doesn't seem like Denis says that 'nasty' things happened to him - just that things happened to him. Nor do he say people 'messed' with his music, just that different music was played. (So Denis doesn't sound like he was accusing anyone of anything in those sentences.) As for the bit about trying to undermine his rivals - it seems to be written that the entourage tried to undermine the rivals, not the skater himself.

Anyway, I don't think there's enough information to conclude that it's this or that skater. I would imagine that more than one (male) skater has an entourage.

I was there for work, guess I m quite in a position to talk about this?
Hanyu had a bunch of 'retinue' with him all the time indeed, but they usually went on their own. The 'bus thing' sounds a bit weird to me. If Hanyu or anyone had been doing such thing, the bus wouldn't go on time. But the fact was, it went well. People were arriving properly during the event, included all sessions of practices and competitions.
For Ten's music, everyone can say nothing about the truth as we knew nothing. If he does really believe it was a dirty trick, he should file a complain officially or do it wisely - hint it at an notable occasion but not to Moskovsky Komsomoletz.
Anyway the report might not be reflecting the true meaning of Ten.
Though I was there everyday but was not following the guys all the day long. My words are only part of the event but hope they provide a shed of light to it.

thanks for more details, i was just trying to understand the situation from the translation (and Alex already talked about its reliablity) , but some posters already accused JSF for the music incident and said it was intentional :slink:

and what is the sochi issue??

Neither Yuzuru nor his team would ever do this but Denis should watch his words when he gives interviews. Based on reports about competitions, there is only one athlete who comes to mind when you read this description. If his hints were made up he would have known about that already as he's always very neat about his image. But he never dismissed the interview. It sounded like round-about provocation.

He called these things causes and finally added that he was offended and frustrated because of them. Sorry about mistranslation, I tried to capture the situation with music because he did sound like it was some dirty trick for him.
As for rivals, at first he says that it was the skater himself who dint let anyone in, then he talked about "them" trying to mess with rivals. Russian is very confusing sometimes.

Doesn't sound like Hanyu at all.

But what it does sound like, is tabloid garbage designed to provoke reactions - their usual tactics to drive people to their websites, sell "news" (LOL) papers etc... ultimately that's how tabloids make money.

I don't believe it for one second. It's obvious that the posters were looking for a victim and if them blame the JSF, it's pretty obvious that it's because they don't want to accept the fact that Denis got the bronze. Looked like they were quick to forget what happened during his SP...
Denis is quite an eloquent guy, he would know how to talk about any kind of incident and I believe he's smart enough to know what to do if there was an incident. Talking about that to MK instead? It does not sound like him. It looks more like this article was trying to get some "sensational" pieces by deforming Denis' words. This article is clearly not reliable.

Exactly. Remember the tabloids during the weeks prior WC? It sounds like the same kind of stuff.

what Tabloid? Did I miss something? Is there a link to it, or can anyone just summarize a bit for me? Thanks!

I think people are really overestimating the power of jsf and yuzu, they can't do such a thing, and it's not necessary (considering that Ten was like almost 10 pts behind yuzu), there's simply no need to do such a trick (esp. since ten skated BEFORE yuzu, which meant they would not know beforehand that yuzu will make errors in his first two quads).... everything sounds illogical and weird.... I think sometimes journalists love to literally cut and paste words from the people they're interviewing to weave their stories... I don't think Ten looked like someone who's insensible enough to openly voice his unfounded speculations and blame his mistakes on others.... the source is dubious...

Poor yuzu, he'll be blindly criticized and hated because of this since he's so popular and stands out so much.... :(

That's funny. Do they honestly think that JSF can control Chinese organisers lol?

As for the bus incident, everyday fans waited at the hotel and stadium to send off Yuzu and to welcome him back. I wasn't there but as far as I know there was no report of such things as "skaters couldn't get on the bus". Hundreds of people witnessed the process of skaters getting on and off the bus, does anyone really believe Yuzu is so stupid to do such thing? Besides, Japanese and Chinese fans have this tradition or habit to wait at the bus, hoping to see their idols more. During the last three days I've watched several clips of Yuzu leaving Yoyogi stadium, bowing to the fans who were waiting there, getting on the bus and then the bus left. Nothing unpleasant happened.

Either Ten's words were misunderstood or he was telling lies.

Just stuff about Yuzuru being depressed, the kind made up by tabloids to explain the lack of news of him. But I believe all the articles have been removed (though Japanese fans are the ones who can confirm)

Agree. ANd I personally believe that Denis's words were misunderstood. That often happens with random magazines.

Who is very neat about image? Denis Ten?
Whatever Denis said I don't believe he meant Yuzuru anyway.
Do you remember him saying he has utmost respect for Yuzuru on worlds sm ceremony?
Do you think he lied?
I don't think so. That doesn't relate to Yuzu, so we needn't discuss it further IMO.

Just listened to The skating lesson with Gracie Gold's former coach.
I highly recommend it. He is just hilarious and so funny and his accent is just spot on. )))
He said that highlights of WTT is LP of Liza, Jason, Yuzuru.
He said that if both Javi and Hanyu skated clean, he would place Hanyu higher for overall skating quality etc.
It seems he is very fond of Yuzu.
Also he said that Satoko has typical japanese landings of jumps Oda and Yuzu alike, smooth knee and great flow.
And he said he likes both Satoko and Lena.

it's sad that apparently although journalists (i won't even call them journalists sometimes) were trained to be objective and truthful, they often twist the wordings of their interviewees so they get their desired results and aims from the interview for the sake of high reception and profit.... (sorry if anyone here is a journalist or reporter, I don't mean all journalists, but just this particular group of unprofessional journalists)

Really? How? China was the organizer how in the name of sanity can JSF have a hand in this? ..

I don't believe is Yuzuru. we all have seen hohim during competition and by all accounts he is a class act, besides if he needs a personal car JSF would have arranged for, no need to use the event bus

who knows how  should ask the posters who mentioned that at Denis's thread :slink:

Hi guys, I just want to check something. I know that many fans who visited WC in Shanghai posted there. Maybe they know what's been going on between skaters. Recently new interview with Denis Ten came out, MK published it (Moskovsky Komsomoletz). I live in Ukrain so don't know if it's reliable newspaper or not. But the interview is very detailed (some things are so precise you wouldn't know them without Den's help). In this interview Denis hinted on Yuzuru pretty clearly when he talked about intrigues of FS backstage. Let me translate the extract:
"I've just come back from China, some nasty things happened to me there. They messed with my Free program music (literally: they put different piece of music into play). I literaly couldn't get into the bus, there was one athlete who just didnt let anyone in, he is always with the retinue behind him, and doing such things they try to mess with their rivals somehow/hinder them." http://mk-kz.kz/articles/2015/04/17/denis-ten-rasskazal-ob-intrigakh-v-mire-figurnogo-kataniya.html
He then stops with hints and goes on about incidents in Sochi. Actually I found two mistakes in this one extract so I don't recommend anyone to believe it. I just want to ask fans who have been in Shanghai and watched skaters off ice, did you notice any incidents between skaters and Yuzu when they got into the bus all together? If Denis was really offended by something he might just have misunderstood the whole situation. Thanks in advance.

Hi Alex. I regret that you brought up this article here, it is not worth discussing. I'm from Russia and MK has a bad reputation here, some people call it yellow press. I guess it's the same in Kazakhstan. It probably has such a miserable impact on people in Kazakhstan that Denis didn't even think of dealing with it. Just personal thoughts.
I've found two big mistakes in this articles. The first one was made when "Denis" described the situation with music. It happened in SP, not in FP, also the music just didnt start from the very beginning, that was it. The second one, he talked about skating in different boots in Sochi. He hinted that someone spoiled one of his boots. In reality, he explained before Sochi that he broke one of his blades during the competition before Olys. That's why he skated in two different boots.
Just let it go, it's not worth worrying.

And the bus incident seems like an accident that could happen
(like, dunno, a sudden fan attack or whatever)
same as blaming certain skater for leaving a full rink of poohs behind =D

In all the videos I have seen like small medal ceremonies, gala practice etc., Yuzu and Denis always seem friendly and respectful towards each other. I really don't think there is bad blood between them! If there is, they both deserve an oscar seriously.
Also of course nobody knows Yuzuru personnally, but he really doesn't come off as someone who would like (or even think) of winning a title or medal using such methods.
