Are you sure? chuckm here seemed pretty adamant about who/what have the priority as to picking...

For what I understand, the hosts chooses first, but the top 3 skaters still have the choice. For example if NHK wants both Yuzuru and Nam, Nam will have to go but Yuzuru can choose not to and go elsewhere. That's what it means, right?

Apparently, Javier wanted TEB last year but couldn't because Machida chose first. So, the chances to see him in TEB this year are high. :yes:

I have no idea. To me it seemed that no, they can't choose to turn it down but then I'm not knowledgable about it, I'm just repeating.

Here And in the comment below, it is said that hosts normally honor the seeded skaters preferences. Though they later said that the hosts have an impact on this...Idk it's kind of confusing and the official ISU announcements for previous years don't elaborate too much on this. I would think the host's preferences only come into play before the skater's if they choose one of the seeded skaters as part of the "host-picked" rooster which is meant to allow countries to showcase their own skaters.

Well I guess if the host wants to helps country skater they will want a skater that is not that strong. But I do believe Yuzuru can help sell a hot ticket right now, so if the host wants to sell ticket Yuzuru is the best choice IMHO.

TEB - because it's in Europe and he can visit his family (even if only briefly). Then Yuzuru will go to SC (to avoid travelling) and NHK (because he must go there....).

Choosing GP for next season is extremely complicated since Patrick and Plushy are both back, not as one of the medalists in worlds. And of course because Yuzu is not the first one to choose. I even heard someone said that there was possibility that SA might want Denis to come (for whatever reason it might be).
I wish so much that Yuzu could choose SA in the end but it is just not likely because of so many factors. :disapp: Maybe we'll wait until worlds to see him.

Well we will have about two months before with know the assignment...it usually comes out mid/late June, and as many have mentioned, it is still quite a mystery as how to they are actually picked.

If it is true that SA is in Milwaukee (still waiting for official announcement) then it is very close to Toronto, much closer than where SC would be (on the west coast).

I think there is a strong possibility he would do Finlandia this year; he wanted so badly to do it last year and said that it was always kind of like a ritual/good luck charm to start his season there, so I think he would try to make it.

Yes, Finlandia is a good place to try his programs in competition for the first time, to have them a little more polished when the GP series begin; and it could be another title he may want to win back

Still unsure about what would Patrick choose, except for SC, but I've got the impression that he would want to try his hand against both Yuzuru and Javier before the GPF. Maybe SA and SC? I think there is a very high chance either of them will be at those events, if Javier choses/gets SA then Yuzuru will very likely choose/get SC or the other way around.

I still wonder about Shoma, sure, there is a high chance he would place lower than Yuzuru if they both go to NHK. But his chances with Patrick/Javier/Denis are not that high either, except maybe with Denis since he peaks late. But in NHK, JSF can have more influence on who competes there, and may set up an easier roster for Shoma to still finish high even if he is still below Yuzuru, aside from the fact that he still gets the home-ice advantage. I don't know how he handles the home-crowd pressure so I won't elaborate there.
And will JSF want to put pressure on Shoma already to get into the GPF, or would they use the GP just as an opportunity for him to get used to the seniors in that particular season and wait for Worlds for the pressure to really kick in? That could also affect where he's being sent.

I actually think that, although as far as I know, Denis doesn't choose his events, CoC and CoR work for him well. He's far from his training base but he's also close to home, and he did have his fair number of fans at Worlds in China, could turn out to be good for him.

When it comes to Shoma, JSU will push him this year I believe.
Actually, I saw him live at Japanese National 2014 last December. I was astonished by his speed and what is more, his inherent star power. He had the aura to attract audience, like yuzu.

If he has the consistency this season, he might have the possibility to win any title. Considering his age, he dominates over Mura, Murakami or Koduka for JSU, towards 2018.

That's why, JSU will refrain from putting both in the same GPS, I think.

Re-watching his Etude SP...still the most gorgeous costume really. I think this season, both of his costume has blue in it, so I am guessing he is really liking blue as a costume color choice, for aesthetic reason as well as superstitious reason (and the PW for his Olympic winning short as well). So I am guessing another blue costume for next season.

Yeah! Etude costume is his most favorite (I remember he put it at P&G campaign in yellow-green back. The costume and the back color were not at all harmonized! I thought he must like this costume…)
In Chopin SP, blue area in sleeves became gradually darker.

I hope his blue costume this season. He’s beautiful pearl skin really shines with blue.
