Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Hi everyone!

I am planning on showing Yuzu's competition program clips in a research methodology course I am teaching (at college sophomore level) in order to demonstrate why sometimes quantitative data (as in the scoring system) are not enough, and why non-numerical data should also be included in research reports. I used to show Michelle Kwan's EX, Fields of Gold for the same lecture theme, but now that I have discovered Yuzu's talent, I simply have to show my students Yuzu's incredible performance.

The hard thing is that, there are way too many clips to show......(and I will still need to lecture), therefore......

I'd like to ask for your vote on one of the two great programs:

1. The RJ 1.0 that won Yuzu his world senior medal at Nice
2. The record-breaking PW that won Yuzu his gold at Sochi

Please vote and maybe say something about why you pick the one.
(I've been unable to decide on which one to show for more than a year. The theme is planned to be taught in less than a week.)

I vote for RJ.01 (because that programme made me fan of Yuzuru) :).
I think the score was too low cause Yuzu was not famous at that time. Btw I saw P. Chan programme and I didn't like it but P. Chan won the title. This is a prove that quantitive data was not enough for judjing the value of Yuzu's performance. All the commentators said it was an outstanding performance of a boy of 17 years of age in the second year of senior competition.

It's a very good point. If time permits and students don't get too bored, it might good to show all 3 programs from Nice: how Patrick got higher scores despite turning in a worse performance than Daisuke. And the stadium reaction during the medal ceremony where the audience applauded hotly Dai and Yuzu but not so much the highest scorer Patrick.

I KNOWWWW that would be so cool that Kenji choreographes for Yuzu. He could bring the sex ;) Actually Shae Lynn could as well! The mambo was CALIENTE.
I would like Yuzuru doing something a bit sexy and sultry like that next season. I think he has the charisma, maturity and character to pull it off. (when you think about it he already did it a little bit with U2 ex, Doors ex and PW, but that would be cool if he went all out!). Also imagine the epic reaction of fangirls passing out everywhere!
 
I think secretly I still want Buttle to choreograph for his SP, even though some how I think it won't happen. PW and Chopin are two completely different programs and both I think played to his strength well, so I'm excited to see what else they can bring to the table.

As far as Patrick's article goes, I am trying hard to fight away the negativity and at the same feeling kind of sad since so many people have said he is actually a really good guy when they've met him; and also I have been guilty of not saying the smartest things either. Well, at least if Hanyu-san does come across this article, it'll probably a translated version and everything sounds more tone-down in Japanese, right? :biggrin: Thank you for not caring about the color of the medals, leave all the gold ones to Hanyu-san then!
 
After reading Patrick’s interview, Only I can say is that Yuzuru is truly a deserved Olympic champion and ALL. :biggrin:
(actually I always feel much comfortable with honest person more than a person who always pretending to look sophisticated or so, but not that such a childish way though…). :biggrin:
Oh, I have to say that most of Chinese people who I met before are polite and kind like Yuzu fans here.

Yuzuru searches for his skating videos, so he can learn from his mistakes. He did not say he does general searches for his name. I doubt he's read any interviews about himself or others that aren't in Japanese. Too busy studying and skating.

As Kenji was an ice dancer (same as Shae-Lynn), I think his choreo of steps is exquisite. We can see that in the program "EYE" as well. It may be good for Yuzuru to improve his skating skills FURTHER :dance: It's my guess that Brian chose Shae-Lynn for the same purpose last season.

Anyway, I love "Luv Letter" music, and hoping Yuzuru would do a performance to it someday, maybe after retirement.
