Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I was just thinking about his SP for the upcoming season and how likely/unlikely it is that Jeff Buttle would still be the choreographer. Jeff has been busy traveling with the Canadian Stars on Ice tour since late April(I think) and the last show is not until May 21st. Then he joins the FaoI the week after. If we think that Hanyu-san will debut his new SP at DOI like he did before, that means he would have choreographed a program already for Hanyu-san (again in late April?), or maybe use the time in Japan during tour stops (I don't even know if it could be done this way) for it to be ready for DOI. And that's cutting it very very close.

So, after these dismal detective work, I am concluding that either he is keeping his SP or it won't be choreographed by Buttle...oh wait, or he won't debut a new program at DOI. I think he at least will have a new EX ready, so maybe he is using that for this whole summer of shows.

Sorry, speculation speculation speculation abound. That's off-season for you!

Edit to add: it seems like they are releasing standing seats of DOI...wow, I've never thought of that possibility before!

I don't know. I just somehow feel that Yuzu is going to collaborate with another choreographer for his SP. After all, he already keeps one choreographer for LP. I personally prefer to see something new.

Yeah, new SP is my concern. True, I do not think they have enough time to prepare for new SP before DOI release (if any). Personally, I am waiting new SP without his keeping the Ballade. We only have 3 seasons to watch his competition programs:hopelessness:…

Talking of EX, is there any information about new EX? I wonder if Willison is choreographing it now in Toronto:think:. Last year’s EXs(time traveler and hana-ni-nare) were my favorites, but they were made in only 2-3 hours for iceshow or TV. This year, I expect more complicated EX to suit his current skating skill.

It's off topic.This year’s Olympic Concert official video was newly released, which is held by mainly JOC to promote Olympic annually in June in resent years. Yuzu image is inserted.

Olympic Concert 2014 was after SOCHI. most medaslist appeasred, but he did not. He got his message across on video. Yuzu and figure skate parts video is here.

In 2013 Olympic concert, he came on stage as one of the promising athletes towards Sochi (yuzu: around 1:20, 6:10, others..).

Seems like Nagaoka 7/11 night show. I think that 19 ice shows is still reasonable. I actually expected Yuzu to have around 25-30 shows this summer...

i still tihnk Buttle will choreograph his SP since they will be at ice show together, he is superstitious and i think he sees Buttle as one of his good luck charms haha (thats what i like to believe ) and if they cant make his SP in time, he can always show us his LP

Agree, not to mention he must have felt uncomfortable as he hasn't gone clean Chopin. So working with Jeff again to revenge for that poor SP season means a lot to him.
He clearly has paid huge attention to performance skill. Maybe he will come back to the original layout for SP with quad after the 3A in the second half?

yeah, if his health lets him, i am sure he will do the 4T at 2nd half (cause he is already behind his 4 year schedule )

I don't know how many shows the skaters from other countries do each summer, but well, I can only say that now I believe the Chinese federation is the most reasonable one among all federations because it doesn't use athletes to make money

Please stop demonizing show!! It's true that a skater shouldn't overwork himself (like Yuzu did during the 2012 and the 2014 summers) but shows aren't just a way for federation to make money: they are the principal income for skaters and often enough the only things that allow a skater to go on skating competitively well in their 20's...

Let's hope that 19 shows is all he will have to do this summer. I know the demand for Yuzu in shows is high. He can't do no show at all. I hope he will return to Toronto in mid July as plan revealed by mama Orser.
I think if he's healthy he might do Christmas shows. But that's it. WC is in Boston so more reason for him to train in Toronto as long as possible.

Of course you have to find a balance and too many shows isn't great either. But training like crazy in Toronto alone all summer must not be that relaxing. I think Yuzu deserves a bit of fun.

I dislike the way people like to make JSF a villian. They had tryed hard to protect Yuzuru this last year and the way they work ensure that young talent has founds to keep skating.

Second, Yuzuru really likes doing shows, and is a way he use to thank his fans.

And finally, this little shows that are being added looks like small events that have very little to do with FoI or DoI shows whose principal sponsor are the same as JOCsJOC sponsors.

And can Yuzuru made a decision without this thread going drama land?, let the kid have fun.

A certain number of shows can keep a skater sharp as they keep them audience ready. I would think too long just skating behind close doors could contribute to being 'in your head' and not beneficial. Also, these shows with all the other skaters must be fun. Obviously, a balance is needed to avoid injury and have rest, but I don't think a professional like Yuzu needs to be 'mothered' by fans. Let him know what is best for him. And if it isn't best for him, he'll learn.
