Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

For Believe, apart from the ina bauer, I love the two segments of the spread eagle with deep edges . Wish the camera zoom out at that moment to see the whole spread eagle.

I think Yuzuru was saving energy a lot. All of his jumps today seem to be lower than usual (except the 4Lo). I guess it's as Firal has said, he wanted to save energy for 4Loop.
You can see his jumps in both Vertigo and Believe weren't as high as he could have done. I think it's more like saving his power for the biggest jump in finale.

I think the same

@Firal thanks for the translation, I think he felt embarrased because of the cameras since looks like in the previous show he wasn't shy at all

Count me in as someone who enjoys Believe more than previously thought. Maybe because I do enjoy power ballads:p to some degree (and boy Che'nelle did a great job through out the whole show! She can really sing! And on-key!) I think what made the difference is also how much Hanyu-san seems to be into the lyrics and the performance himself.

Not sure if this was posted, but if you survived Vertigo (where they broadcast actually moved to a close up of his upper body during the hip-movement) and wanted more, this news program delivered the whole body shot! :o:

Oh my God..thank you for sharing the link. I will probably put this on repeat, too. I'm glad it's the weekend and I don't have anything planned for the day :hb:Gonna watch Yuzu vids all day...

I went see the May 30, 2015 FaOI live show. My personal comment is as follows:

Firstly, he looked energetic. He abandoned himself to the joy of skate. “Yuzu is in good shape. Yuzu loves skate from bottom of his heart. “ That’s the most thing I felt to see him at the show. I am happy.

Secondly, about his character, I want to write one episode which was not captured by camera. It happened when all skaters were standing in line
(around 12:40- http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2s25xm_2015-believe-finale_sport) .]
Yuzu was standing between Akiko and Jeff, sometimes talking or clapping his hands. At that time, yuzu moved to Wakaba, spoke to her, and pushed her back gently toward the center on ice. Wakaba started. Next, yuzu moved to Shoma, did the same thing. They’ve not got many experiences with Ice shows. Provably, while talking with Jeff, Akiko or so, yuzu was caring about their turns. Yuzu tried to make them relaxed in advance. Or he might have been seeing the timing for them to start. Yuzu was like their kind-hearted elder brother. This is yuzu. His personality is one of the reasons I love yuzu.

Thirdly, I want to write about his speciality. "There is good skaters and great skaters. And yuzuru hanyu"(by British commentator, provably..). I realized it. Jeff, Johnny, Plushenko, Stephan…They were amazing. To see them, I cried. I shivered. And I was overwhelmed. How about yuzu? Yuzu can’t be compared with other skaters. I don’t say yuzu is superior or inferior to them. What I want to say is Yuzu is special. Yuzu is only one. At “Believe”, he skated with a huge amount of emotion. In this makuhari FaOI pamphlet, yuzu said about his emotion like this, “In competitions, I have to control my emotion. But in shows, I can let my emotion go.” When he lets his emotion free, yuzu was incredible. I thought he was like a MONSTER. No one in the world could have such an enormous amount of emotion like yuzu. His passion and big aura filled the whole venue. This harmonized with his beautiful movement and body.. All of them created a magical moment. Just breathtaking.

Finally, about his orange costume.. I didn’t mind it at all. That costume really fitted the music, lyrics and choreography. It’s my guess…but yuzu seemed to choose that color consciously or unconsciously. That bright and warm color was like HOPE or so. After that horrible and tough season yuzu wanted to enter into the new season, the new world, with hope. Sorry, I’m a bit sentimentalist.

Sorry for my long post. it’s my personal thought...

Actually I've seen tweets from the people who watched two shows live which claimed that Hanyu dealed wth his embarassment much better this time compared to the previous show. I also though he was less shy the second time.

Pamina and Hamaguri thank you for your personal reports which are both entertaining and touching.

Re hip rolls, I think from watching the video Yuzuru did his pretty well and did a good job of hiding his embarrassment, if any. It's not a move to do under the spotlight with any hint of self-consciousness, otherwise the audience would be amused rather than entranced. Still I find it charming that Yuzuru can't be blasé about doing it. ;)

If that's the case then it's great he is feeling more comfortable, thanks for letting me know ;)

Thank you! And what you said about the colour and hope is beautiful. Let us hope the new season lives up to the colour :).

Thanks for your post, Hamaguri :)

Hello again everyone!, been away a while due to real life busyness; so much to catch up on.
now, HTH am I supposed to back read all this O.O

Thank you for your great show reports, Pamina and Hamaguri :party2:

Enjoy the rest of your stay in Japan, Pamina :agree:

As to the jump landing of Yuzuru, I think the limited space of the rink affected to some extent, especially the first jump of Vertigo.

These two days have been a blast , especially because of the live broadcast and the various photos/news/accounts/links from this forum!

Great to watch Yuzuru skate so wonderfully again!

Twitter Reports from todays show:
Fell on 3A at the opening number. Doors 'Hello I love you' EX and did 3T 3A 3Lo 3S clean. Later, he threw his T-shirt to the crowd.

I`m happy that Yuzu has his happy days and enjoying being a rock-star.
Re his jumps- personally, I don`t expect skaters being in top form the whole year, they are human, they need to rest.
I prefer to see Yuzu being top notch at big competitions, like GPF and worlds.
So that don`t bother me.
I hope at pre olympic season Yuzu will not do summer ice shows at all.

But Yuzu always amuse me by his ability to save his jumps - how he lands that second jump in Vertigo which was off-axis? We would never know.

Out of all collaborations that Yuzu did, only songs I enjoyed were "Change" and "Final time traveler". But he seems to be so into the music, it`s beautiful.

And last but not least, hamaguri, thank you for sharing with us your special point of you. I was expecting it.

He hasn't done the second song right?
It's a relief he does Hello I Love You again. Ha ha.
