Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I love Jon-san art. She makes some of the best (and cutest) arts ever. :)

On a happier note: next show is saturday. Two shows in a row, this time! What do you guys think he'll do? Vertigo or Hello I love you? Or both with one for each show?
Btw when is the next FaOI be broadcast live?

News

In Today's Yuzu News, he made an appearance at a Blood Donation Awareness event.
http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20150601-00000043-dal-spo
He also spoke a bit about his study schedule, says it's very hard as sometimes he only gets 4 hours of sleep.

If I read correctly, he said he only slept for 4 hrs last night because of his school work.

News clip and press interview
Adorable when he reaches to hold the mascot hand, here is a fanart of it .
Yuzu's a perfect spokesperson...I'm really impressed with how articulate he is. (it's a talent, since he's always been good at interviews and promoting things, but it's getting better and better, like his skating)

Some interesting bits:
The presenters say that they will just talk and haven't really planned what to say before-hand.
Comment on how much Yuzu has matured in a year (since they last talked with him)
Yuzu said that he felt the importance of blood donations even more because of his recent operation. (though it didn't go as far as needing a transfusion)
He talked about the importance of Social Media for raising awareness in young people about important issues...and that it's something he is studying.

The male presenter said that during the filming, he didn't want to ask Yuzu to do a jump because he was worried about injuries. But Yuzu brought it up.
Yuzu says the theme of the advertisement was the power of blood donations, so for him, power, as a skater was shown in this way.

So he did the jump and the director thought it was good. But Yuzu looked at the film and said, please let me do it again. Yuzu says he was off axis so he did it several times to get it right.

He says he can't lip sync without singing a bit. The female presenter was going to ask him to sing...but Yuzu said 'NO' before she could even get there.

He says he sings in the bathroom and around the house so much so that his family would sometimes tell him to stop.
The press asked him about the Kabedon photo and he said that while rehearsing, they didn't spend the whole time with Kenji, the choreographer, so they were fooling around taking pictures and thinking about what would be funny. They weren't planning to post it and he was surprised at the reaction to the photo.

He also said very nice things about Mao's return and that he was very happy.
He's so cute when he's saying some of fan letter are saying 'I'll marry Hanyu-senshu'. It's so funny that the letters are from elementary school student & kindergarterner.

https://twitter.com/tokyosengen/status/605272378424225792. 'The programs themselves are complete and I really like them' -says Yuzu, but not telling what they are.

Yuzu will reveal his new program for season 15-16 in DOI shows (June 12-14), http://www.sponichi.co.jp/sports/news/2015/06/02/kiji/K20150602010463470.html
If that was the same article that I read this article, it says that "a related source" said that he will reveal his program at DOI since he also did it last year...not a direct quote or announcement from Hanyu-san himself.

3 scoops on Yuzu: something about his 4L, something about the way he trains, and something about his 3A. Watch to find out.

I am sure he landed 4Loop last summer. Oda even talked about this with Yuzu in an interview (starting 04:00).
According to this tweet, he mentioned in a magazine article that he first landed 4lo 2014/4/7. I don't know where the TV program got their info
A friend if mine gave me a rough translation of what yuzu said about 3A: "when I was learning 3a, Asada Mao San happened to be also practicing 3a like crazy. I looked at her and thought to myself - we don't need to try that hard at all (that jump is not that difficult). Then I just went for it and I made it."
They said "It was the first time for Yuzuru to land 4Lo on a rink for official competitions (I think it means, not on a training rink or show rink).

About 3A, he said "When I saw Mao's 3A, I thought 3A does not require much power or force, so I jumped HYU, and I succeeded!"

I heard that he had been struggling with his 3A, but he could land it by just one try after he saw Mao's 3A. Incredible, it is true that prodigies learn from their eyes.

Although I have not seen the video, but I think it was about the fact that Mao is the first lady skater who landed THREE 3A's in a competition (once in SP and twice in LP), and it was Vancouver Olympics.
A summary shared on FB group
A rough summary by Mii9000, http://yuzuruhanyu.forumatic.com/
-On his costum, his mother spent all night sewing spangles on his Zigeunerweisen costume.

-On his 4 loop, the 4 loop at WTT gala was his second time to land 4 loop at an official competition rink. They showed the first time smile emoticon the practice at the same rink). Just after landing he did not show much excitement, but when he talked to Mura-kun, we can see his big smile.

-On his attitude toward practice when he was young, he is very hard working now. He does not stop practicing when he has something he wants to work on. Right before the performance in a competition, when other skaters do a light warm-up, Yuzu seems to do a hard exercise. But when he was small, his former coach, Mr. Tsuzuki said, he was just a typical boy who liked baseball very much.

-On liking Plushenko, they say Plushenko changed him to be more serious about figure skaing. At age 10 he copied the Russian skater’s spins completely.

-On his triple axel, he succeeded on his 3A after watching Mao’s 3A. He talked about that in his interview with Shuzo Matsuoka. “When I saw Mao-chan jump a 3A, I thought, `I see, you really don’t need much power`, and I tried the jump right after than and I could land it.” He earned more that 11 points constantly since 2014.

-When Nakai asked Miyu about Yuzu, she said “on my birthday he and other skaters celebrated it (singing a happy birthday song?) and once Yuzu said to her “Ganbatte smile emoticon Try your best (work hard))! Oh, but you have been trying your best, so no need for me to tell you that.” She said she was touched by his words.

Madame Tussauds put up ropes around Yuzuru's wax figure today due to the overload of people wanting to touch him... (@_@) And a fan took his waist measurements, which was 27 inches.

^Thanks for the great compilation of the FOI broadcast highlights Alia! Love how Yuzuru's idols Evgeni Plushenko and Johnny Weir were bowing to him after he completed the quad loop. Like us, they know he is amazing! :)

Seeing him so happy at the show shows that he really loves performing and getting a rapturous reception from his home crowd. It seems like right now he is the crowd favorite anywhere he competes, and it's not just because of the ubiquitous Japanese fans.

So looking forward to the June 6 videos. Hopefully after some days rest, we will see him being genki again!

One of the things that show how good Yuzuru really is is how former skating stars know and aknowledge his talent. Since 2012, Plushenko said he thought Yuzuru was the best man in the field (even when Patrick was very dominant) and that he was the future. And well, Johnny tweeted about that 4Lo, that the rest of the field better watch out  and what better skaters to aknowledge it that Yuzuru's idols! :)

Not only is he wearing a more fitted suit, he looked so shiny today! During some closeups I thought he might be wearing make-up too...maybe they should try the mattifying kind??

Wow! Thanks skatefan22 and firal! The day for his new program to show up is coming! :cheer:

My ticket was premier, so along with transportation fee, it costed me fortune:cry:. I had to give up summer shopping.
I’m jealous of you! The premier seat deserves the money! (but a tall lady...Poor you...) . I wonder how it is to feel yuzu in such close distance.
And thank you for your great report! I know well with what thought he did the last combo. I also think he didn’t want to finish it with failed jumps. Not just for him but for the audience. :)

Yey!:yay: I want to say thank you to you (of course to yhmafan who gave me a picture!). After reading your comment yesterday I checked my cite and found the way to put avatar picture. During the late afternoon, I was looking for the photo for it, and got it!

As for “Believe”, I also love that costume and song. That song is so tender and lyrical love song. And he was skating his heart out.. He himself loves to skate emotionally, so he looks so comfortable. “Story” is the same type of song, but “Believe” is more powerful and strong. It really fits hm, I suppose.
As for the costume color, yes, more dark orange might have been better. Provably, it looked more pale due to huge white spotlight.

True! It seems to me he focused on the interaction with the audience. He sincerely devotes himself to delivering his heart to each person. And the audiences feel it, and they get happier together. It’s perfectly wonderful....

“Yuzu being genki” is my first and foremost hope.:hopelessness:.

I don't post often, but when I do, it's mostly to thank you all for all the fun in this topic, and thanks for sharing all the cool stuff (alas I don't have time to check everything out, but what I see is great).
I had a lovely evening last night watching the Fantasy on Ice youtube videos. I saved the Yuzuru Hanyu ones for last. I liked "Believe", but really enjoyed his skating to Vertigo. That wasn't a new EX, right? But it did suit him rather well. I guess he's talented enough to pull off skating to every kind of music.
