Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

(Maybe his new SP and LP are much more physically demanding than he thought it would be? Apparently Yuzu needs to build more strength and during post-Olympic time he didn't have good rest at all.)
But of course they are demanding! He needs to build his stamina from scratch. He can't simply get to sleep and be fresh as just squeezed orange juice after the summer busy like that!
When he said those words in the earlier interview about feeling like an elastic band being too stretched and broken- they so reminded me of the words of an old Bilbo talking to Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring and saying: "I feel all thin, sort of stretched, if you know what I mean: like butter that has been scraped over too much bread. That can’t be right."
He needs more time to recover. And honestly I don't want him to look tired and worn out on his first competition. Let him build up and perform great, that's all I could ask for.:)

I might have to clarify: I'm crying because I'm actually going to Finlandia. (Did I mention the part about me being selfish?)
I am with you, if I'd go to an event and my personal star would not present- I'd feel the same. But- you can spend some quality time sightseeing. And maybe build a phylosophical mood watching others trying to reach Yuzu's level. (Here should come an evil grin, hehe).

I hope Yuzu is not injured and I really appreciate his message.. his olimpic season has "officially" ended on August 30 with R&J 1 EX, which is totally insane. He definitely needs to rest and live in peace. I'm happy to know he listens to his physician and trusts him.

So some reports are saying he has Myofascial low back pain.
I think that means more time for acupuncture, massage therapy, injections (if needed) and so on. The more time he takes for recovery- the better it treats. And maybe he should let biellmann spins go?

Reposting here as I initially posted this in the Finlandia Trophy 2014 thread.

From Yahoo! Sports JP (Source: Sankei Sports) (in Japanese, my (poor) English translation follows):

Hanyuu to miss his first event this season, injures back during practice

It has been reported (understood) that Sochi Olympics Men's Figure Skating Gold Medalist Yuzuru Hanyuu (19, ANA Skating Club) will be missing out on his first event of this season this October (Finlandia Trophy).

According to JSF's chairman (?) Hidehito Ito (52), Hanyuu has incurred a myofascial lower back pain, and has submitted his notice of withdrawal (refusal) together with a medical certificate last 17 September. Furthermore he said that this will not affect Hanyuu's appearance at the Grand Prix Series' 3rd Cup of China in November.

No X-ray or something like that? Since I don't know much about injuries and the treatment, but I guess there is more than just massage when it comes to low back pain.
And I hope he let that Bielmann spin go as well.

 when he clutched his back at worlds, and he's been going non-stop since then; 6 triple ex a day later I can't even
but it sounds like it's a muscle tissue thing, not a bone/disc so it's not as bad as Plushy's

OMG.....I know he had back injured while in JR....was it the old problem...?
Really? Never heard of it.

Bielmann spin and enormous quantity of quads since young age are the main reason, imo. Unfortunately all skaters with complicated jumps eventually face back pains :(

However, Yuzu's team is very professional, I believe he'll be alright.

thats really sad but our sadness cant be compared to the tv channel that just bought finlandia broadcasting rights i guess, feeling sad for them more than myself, btw hello everyone very first post in this thread although i have been following this for very long time :) :) :)

What is that? I don't know what that means, sorry.
I just went to internet for the treatment usually applied for that diagnosys they reported.
X-ray, sorry. I have just done some reasearch as well. It seems myofascial pain is chronic but it's in his muscle and massage is the popular treatment. But sometimes they have to do surgery in severe case as well (to inject pain killer) I hope he will be alright. Since he has to withdraw I think it might be serious. But maybe his family and team advised him to rest before the real season starts. Hope so hope so!

I just read on tumblr that Yuzu withdrew and raced over here to get more details. Man, today has been an upsetting day and this just adds to it. I'm glad he's listening to the professionals around him about his health and I hope he feels better quickly

After my first sadness that Yuzu is in pain, my next thought was OMG TV Asahi paid soooo much for the broadcasting rights.
BTW, welcome Matmuh.

Well it seemed like a good idea at the time since they expected some 10.000.000 viewers... let's just hope that this year they won't lose too much money so they'll try again next year to broadcast a senior B competition...
