Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

The Time Traveler Ex is so great:love: better every time I see it. and can't wait to see finished version of the SP; I liked the final spin position he did in DOI better (with his arm going up) than this one. Thanks for the vid :)

Yeah me too :love: i adore his time traveler ex a lot than the first ex he did with hiromi go. I also adore his new sp and would love to see it skated cleanly this season :). I kinda like both final spin positions he did but i do prefer the doi version of his sp performance (yes, even with the fall hihi)

Ana (Whatever Hime)'s Yuzuru montage to Rudyard Kipling's "If."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiwGP6kT2b4

The entire poem:

If—
BY RUDYARD KIPLING
(‘Brother Square-Toes’—Rewards and Fairies)

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Thanks Ana! Wonderful job as always.

Thanks also to those who posted updates and links. Wishing the best for Yuzuru this season.

While it's still off-season

Shortly after the Socho Olympics there was a discussion in the thread about the possibility of Evgeni Plushenko coaching Yuzuru. As we all know, Yuzuru later invited his idol to the TOI show. And apparently Yuzuru took the opportunity to show his idol his jumps and get some tips:

Matveev: A coaching you interested? I have heard that you have trained a few guys trying to train.
E. Plushenko: Yeah, you know, I was already after surgery somewhere in 6 months, one month ago I was in Japan, and China. And in Japan, I went for a drive with Yuzuru Chania - a new Olympic champion, awesome people, awesome athlete, unique, brilliant athlete really is. We trained together before the show, and he comes up to me and says, "Eugene-san, you can see the jump?" I say, "Yuji, of course, is not a question, come." He took with me all the quarter-jumping, we began to train a cascade, a triple axel, a quadruple toe loop. That is the Olympic champion, respect everything went. And yes, coached, and I coached the Spanish and coached our guys, but it's just like this on a friendly basis, but in general I have been the team and coaches and choreographers and coaches in physical training. I want my school, I want to train our children, our athletes. I have a lot of proposals and the Japanese side, and from America.

The above is an excerpt from the Google translation of EP's entire interview posted by lala in FS Universe: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...o-fans-ii-to-infinity-and-beyond.92211/page-6.

The translation apparently is a bit rough, but the mutual admiration that the two Olympic champions have for each other is evident.

On another note, I wonder whether "the Spanish" referred to by EP who also received "coaching" from him is Javier, who was also in the same show.

Re the "coaching," I wonder whether Brian approves. ;)

I haven't been on the forum since April and i've nearly forgotten how to use the site, but I need feedback for the blades yuzu has. Edeas are probably not a good fit for me and I've never considered getting the ice flys anyway... but the Pattern 99 parabolic John Wilson blades he has are possible. But they are for international competitors and i don't want to look like a wannabe even if I do skate competitively. I also know that each person has a different liking for his/her boots and blades, but I really have never tried hollow or semi-hollow or parabolic blades, so if anyone who has or knows a lot about them could tell me that would be great
thank you

While I think it's really cool for Yuzuru to have the chance to work with some of his idols and greats like Plushenko, I would be really surprised if Yuzuru left his current coaching team.

It's not going to happen.
Plush did not mean it. He was just flattered by the Japanese. He simply said that gladly coaching Yuzu. But that's all. It will not be nothing.
This is a fan Plushenko said.

Same here.

Yuzuru was also quoted as saying this in response to being told that Plushenko was open to the idea of coaching him: "I’m really honored for Plushenko to say that. If the skating federation really does contact Plushenko, I’d definitely consider it. However, I won’t go and approach him right now as things are, because I am currently training with Brian Orser. I was really happy to have won the gold medal alongside Orser, so I wish to be able to remain like this for quite some time." Yuzuru stament on Daisuke´s reitarement:

"Takahashi-senshu always stretched me and pulled me further. I think he made men’s figure skating what it is today. There were many times that he helped me and gave me advice. As a skater and as my senior, he is someone that I will look up to, forever. For moving us deeply many times up to now, I really thank him very much."

Many thanks to Nachos Subtitle , to Pinoko and to Annca for the links!:bow:

In the NHK Trophy clip message , released on October 5, they translated “ Hanyu Yuzuru sent a video message , since he can’t attend the conference due to his lower back injury”.
I don't know if the lady who introduced Yuzu’s message in the longer version presented it in the same way or not..Can anybody confirm it?

If this is supposed to be the official version and if the translation is correct, there will be two implications IMO . The first one is that Yuzu is officially so injured that he can’t move and join the conference , the second one is that he’s not training since he can’t even walk .

I'm confused.:confused:

many thanks for translation and links to everybody!:)

In the coming season Yuzu will be the team leader despite his very young age... I hope this new burden won't be excessive for his thin shoulders and I really hope Mao will be back very soon :bow:...

Actually Takahiko Kozuka was named team leader by Akiko and Shizuka, over the summer shows. Probably because he is now the oldest team Japan skater and to light up Yuzuru´s pressure. I agree with this aproach.
