Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

Well, I spoke with a couple of Japanese fans at Finlandia trophy and they do not worry about Yuzuru's injury even half as much as people at GS ;) I think it's better to follow their example and not to jump to unnecessary conclusions.

Actually, I'm not sure if Yuzuru had attended last year's press-conference in Japan for the GP series. I couldn't find any video . Maybe you have some info?

No, he didn't attend the press last year and neither did he attend the GP press of 2012. I think it is because he trains in Canada and it is not necessary to travel for hours just to attend a press conference.
I think the video we saw in the press of 2014 was shot in August when he back Japan for receiving some prize. I check the suit and necktie which is the same as what he wore that day.

Easy Giulia. If his injuiry would be severe, he would have been withdrawed from GP events already ;)

it will be much easier when I'll watch Yuzu enjoying his skating in an ice rink.:)

Actually the last official news are from October 5, we all know what they said, and in that message Yuzu has teary eyes IMO.
Not easy at all in any case.

I don't think what the famale announcer said was the official announcement, she was just reading the script NHK had written for their news program, not written by JSF.

thanks Yude for the information, may be this is a free interpretation of NHK announcer , but this doesn't change the situation, may be it just confirms it stronger.

Orser coming home to Autumn Classic

Thanks for the article!
Even more excited now:party:
entire life wow XD
magic: so wow Beverly Smith is one of us
“He gets so wound up and so enthusiastic, I wish I could just bottle that,” Orser said.
bottle it and sell it; make a fortune; don't forget the skincare routine while your at it. Orser's is job is basically to try to stop Yuzuru from being too crazy, and often failing.
Orser says he believes that Hanyu really needed to have a little bit more time off than he did over the summer
Orser says it's precautionary, Javi says it's fine, official JSF/Yuzu statement said myofascial injury; and we literally have video of Yuzu on the ice (standing there, but still)
and even if he wasn't injured it would be silly to insist that Yuzuru go all the way to Japan for a (hour long?) press conference; surely it's not that big a deal? I don't think there's anything going on b/w Yuzu and JSF or the media.

Until we have evidence to suggest otherwise, let's just trust what has been said (i.e. that his rest is precautionary and his injury/pain isn't severe) instead of needlessly escalating the situation on the thread based on pure suspicion/distrust of the media/contempt of the JSF or whatever it is. Speaking as one fan to another, let's end this :no: conspiracy-theory talk right here and be more :yay:!!

It's less than a month away from CoC now and less than 2 weeks until the official start of the senior GP, I'm getting excited!

edit: @WoChair, you said it all haha

Thank you :)!
I agree, that would be not really wise to spend 2-4 days of pre-season training just to travel back and forth to Japan (even in uninjured state).

No cospiracy theory but an evident confusing situation, which is quite different to me.

I don't think it's confusing at all. He spent far too much time in Japan this summer and being the nice and honorable guy that he is, obliged the JSF and took on all those shows and appearances. Due to this he was tired and possibly irritated his back. It makes total sense that he W/D from Finlandia as it is a B competition and instead get some rest and then train properly for his Grand Prix events. Also, it's only common sense that he would not fly all the way to Japan for a press conference. I certainly hope the JSF didn't make him feel like he needed an excuse not to attend. :rolleye:

Because Orser is his coach and knows better than anyone the state of Yuzu's health, we can rest assured that he is doing well and will present some beautiful programs next month. I'm so excited to see his Phantom free skate as it sounds like a dream! :yay: Let's all focus on the season ahead and quit agonizing over what is said in the Japanese press.

Thanks for posting this. It's a great article and furthermore a relief to hear BO say that Hanyu's rest is precautionary. The details about HY's SP and LP are quite interesting too. Well written article!

One fan went to see Skate Canada Autumn Classic last night and bumped into Orser. She asked Orser how Yuzu was. Orser said Yuzu was fine and his state was going up and up (Orser made a gesture like ↗)His WD from Finlandia Trophy was being smart for preparing the coming GPS.
So, let's be patient and just look forward to the COC next month. We may see the most beautiful programs in our lives...

They didn't say Yuzu couldn't attend the conference because he was abroad, they just gave a different explanation and that's all. It's not me you have to convince, it's them.

Different people may have different perception and different point of view, I think it's human. For some it's hard to deal with it. Sophistic schools started 2500 years ago , they were top-notches artists of rhetoric :)

Yes, I hope he finally owns the quad salchow :o:

I tend to think, and not just hope ;), that Yuzuru's quad salchow will be a stable jump for him this season rather than the hit/miss thing (more miss than hit actually) it was for him last year. I think he made the mental breakthrough when he landed it in Worlds under the most extreme pressure. And now he's only getting mentally and physically stronger.

On a lighter note, Yuzuru must know that Nam has already been landing "lovely" quad salchows, albeit in practice, and his famed competitiveness can't let his younger training mate get the better of him in that regard. ;)

Congratulations GIULIA95. You are the first and only poster at Golden Skate I'm putting on ignore.

Trashing anything related to Brian Orser and conspiracies and criticism about JSF have gone over the top. Multiple posters have asked at different times for you to stop all the convoluted conjecture on Yuzuru's situation, conspiracy theorizing, etc. It's pretty negative.

I'm staying away until Yuzu actually skates again.

:agree:

Oh please, I am worried about Yuzuru's condition as well but so many sources around him (his training mates, his coach, JSF...) are saying his injury is not severe so let's hope for the best. I am not really a big fan of Orser but it's true that he seems to know what he is doing with Yuzuru. He has done really great job with Nam and Javi, anyone can see that. Yuzuru's stamina has improved quite well, his speed increases, his mentality has become much better (especially after that fall in SP at Saitama), his posture, footwork...everything! He's got a long way to go, but we can see that Orser knows what he is doing, he even changed the choreorapher for Yuzuru. He knows it. So please put more trust in Orser.

According to a Japanese news report, three major pieces of music used by Yuzu in LP are:

1st half:
Music of the night (with vocal)

2nd half: 4T3T, 3A2T, 3A1L3S
Angel of music (with vocal)
Masquerade (no vocal)

This report is written by a Japanese reporter who went to see Yuzu's open practice in Canada that day. Translation was found on a fan forum:

Wanted to actually add something of substance, so here's a tweet with a newspaper article: In a survey of 1000 men and 1000 women ages 15-69, the top five favourite sports athletes are 1) Ichiro 2) Asada Mao 3) Nishikori Kei 4) Hanyu Yuzuru and 5) Tanaka Masahiro. Hanyu moved up from 30th last year to 4th this year

Just saw a funny pic of Yuzu and Oda at DOI. Yuzu is trying to kiss Oda.
