The gala was all kinds of awesome, but I'm not gonna lie, this little dork is my absolute everything at these events. I almost cried when it was suggested that he wouldn't do Requiem, but when I saw him stand there in that costume at the beginning, I nearly ripped out the seat in front of me. Has anybody mentioned yet how super duper uber mega sparkly that costume is??? I love it! I love it! I loved it before just for being what it is, but OMG it is sooo sparkly!! (and by the way, have I mentioned before that his FS costume is just as super duber uber mega sparkly? We loooohohohohoved that so much! I know many of you like the old, less blingy version better, but what I saw is simply a dream come true for me. I love that!). I made an effort not to cry during the EX, but seriously, that is one gorgeous program. He is gorgeous, period. (in theory I'm way too old for this kind of fangirling but I honestly couldn't care less  I don't act my age anyway and gushing over him keeps me young).
And then he can't stop dancing around like the little dork that he is and starts with the air guitar and I honest just cannot with this guy. Winnie was recording something next to me. I may need to check back with her if 90% of her audio consist of my stupid giggles because I just could not help myself. And we even got us a jump fest in the end :dance:Yuzu's quad looked every bit as gorgeous as you would assume from the videos. And when Javier tripled the first jump, he was like eh eh, no señor, we're not leaving until you go out there and do this properly like we all know that you can. And when Javi gets the quad, the little dork stands at the side and jumps like a 5-year-old in the middle of a candy store :laugh2:
I'm sure that gala would have been tons of fun either way (so many great programs) but I'm not gonna lie, this little dork is my personal highlight of absolutely everything. We had such a blast here at the GFP last year. And we didn't expect any miracles after NHK. We would have been more than happy if it all would have been just as good as last year. But this week was everything we could have hoped for. Actually it was all that and even more. We saw so many great performances, but the men's events were spectecular and that FS was just about the most exciting thing in the history of absolutely everything. I feel so lucky that I got to be here for this, and even more so that I got to share it with a friend.
:ghug:

Will the 4 loop cause hip problems?

I worry about the long term health of his body, with all those quads he's doing.

Quads (loop) or not, skating is not very good for the body, as every sport at high level. But we don't want WC to be a competition of cross-oves do we ?

Phil Hersh is a famous journalist about winter sports, please scroll down a bit to see how he reacted to Yuzuru's wonderful performances at GPF 2015. He is often so strict but this time he showers Yuzuru with praises.

I am really curious about what off ice training Hanyu is doing. As much as I love his skating, I do wonder if his legs could use a little bit more muscle for these jumps in the long run.

Oh Patrick, just stop talking.....when I attended that presser with Patrick, he was improving (ie not saying any stupid things)...now after I read his latest comments, I can only slap my forehead!!!!! I think what he said can be taken a couple different ways, but I am sure the Yuzu fandom is gonna freak out about this....regardless of what his actually intended meaning was.

Maxed out?? Yeah, I don't think so! I think I know what he meant....and its not as bad as it sounds...for example, when he says Yuzu has maxed out, he probably means "with the current layout" but he doesnt say it that way..... I am not going to defend him though....Patrick dug this hole, he can get out of it himself...

The Yuzu fandom should just take a chill pill and ignore comments like that  even if he were maxed out - well then, go ahead and have fun catching up with him. 60+ points difference, shouldn't be too much of a problem to get there. Puh-lease
I can actually totally understand that he would tell himself something like that. All the other guys can't just go "ok, that's it, we can all just retire because nobody is ever gonna win anything against this wonder boy from outer space". Of course they have to think that they can still improve and that they can get close to him, and if Yuzu messed up, they can actually win against him. But usually it's better to skip that kind of speech during interviews.

Yeah, I'm assuming that's what he was trying to say. Yuzuru fandom should just ignore this, ain't worth tackling on.

To be honest I couldn't care less what Patrick actually says. It's more that when he says things like this, I don't think he has any respect for Yuzuru. Whenever Yuzu is asked about another skater he is so complimentary and he'll find all of the good qualities that they have and praise them for them. Patrick is asked the same and he's a big ol' negative nelly saying how he's maxed out and he can make mistakes and he's seen nothing special.

He needs to take some time to stop focusing on himself and maybe do as Yuzuru does and look to other skaters in order to help improve himself. Because when Patrick is whining and complaining, Yuzuru is watching and improving and breaking records.

“At the end of the day, he’s pretty much maxed out. What we see today, what we saw at NHK, that’s the best he can do. Whereas this is just my base and I’m building on it. I’m in a whole different strategy plan than he is. I’m not going to try and compare each other because I don’t think we’re on equal terms.’’
What a prick, tbh. Patrick is right though. We shouldn't compare a figure skater with an ice dancer.

“The difficulty of the jumps now and how many quads are in the programs is really unreal. I didn’t expect that. What I find most challenging this year is actually just dealing with my own demons — putting expectations on myself, trying to please everyone. Maybe I need to start learning to please myself first.
“What was a surprise and what I didn’t expect and what I’m learning quickly is how big of a learning curve I was about to experience coming back into competition and on to the international stage.’’

Read: Arrogance. Thinking he'll still have the edge just by working on "artistry" during his year off. Puh-lease.

He has been left behind. He should try ice dancing coz judging by the way some posters talk about him in his thread, it's as if they're talking about an ice dancer.
